Aidan Stone’s contract has been mutually terminated to allow him to pursue opportunities closer to his family home in the south-west

Pity that it didn't work out for Aiden at Notts. Hope it works out for him & he does find a suitable  Club nearer his family home in the south west.

Good luck to Aiden I hope he finds a club near his family etc., family is more important than football and it wasn’t really working out for him here.

i think we have treated him a bit unfairly, but its what it is and i wish him well. with his contract now being closer to expiring i assume it makes it cheaper and easier to mutually agree terms. i hope he manages to prove himself, hes not the worst keeper we have had.

I agree @liampie about him being treated unfairly.

I wonder how he would have performed with our present defence and central midfield in front of him?

I'm sure that he may have performed better. Some players do perform better when they are surrounded by good players.

Imo he wasn't the best goalie. His reaction were slow and he just wasn't great

Aiden Stone looked promising when he arrived, but there were warnings about his ability from Port Vale and Mansfield fans.

That said, I thought he was pretty promising and decent with his hands. The ball at his feet being a plus, because he could actually pass it around unlike Sam Slocombe who struggles with this. I think Stone being pushed out of the team and being given a chance to redeem himself is a shame.

He did get off to the worst possible start by getting sent off 10 minutes into his debut. That can't have been good for his confidence. I do remember some howlers in his first season as well but I agree the defensive in front of him was hardly rock solid. Unless Bass got injured he had pretty much 0% chance of playing, it's probably for the best.

With a crap defence in front of him it was hardly surprising.

Wish him all the best wherever he end up.

Not a great keeper to be honest. As @Sophie dsays, he had slow reactions and was also poor under the high ball, choosing to stay on his line rather than coming for any crosses. His kicking wasn’t that great either, yes the defence was terrible in front of him granted but he did nothing to inspire any confidence.
