Good morning it’s a bright start here in York but it’s forecast to rain later.

Yesterday we went to the Yorvik Centre to learn all about the Vikings, it was fascinating stuff, we boarded a “Time Machine” which was like a dodgem car and we were whisked back in time travelling through the streets of York as they would have been during the Viking times, there were moving mannequins depicting people going about there everyday business.

Today we’ll go to the castle museum to see more modern history.

Have a good day everyone.

Good afternoon everyone. It was a nice morning here with unbroken sunshine until the middle of the afternoon.

Still buzzing from the transfer of Mai Traore to Notts yesterday & relieved that no late bids were accepted for our best players..

I think there is optimism in the air that we can look forward to a good second half to the season.

Just one defeat in nine games is something to build on and continue. Can't wait for Saturday to arrive.

I have not been up to much, not a lot going on and I am just recovering still from my leg break. I am hoping to be aid-free in a month or two, but the most frustrating part is the time it takes. It's worse than watching paint dry.

boring day at work but i think some of @Robbie sun has finally reached me. it was a bit nicer today at first, least before it started to rain. not much to say but i am feeling much better. i hope every other member reading this is avoiding bugs and having fun!

Sorry to hear about your leg break @CliftonMagpie, I broke three of my fingers last summer (garden DIY paving stone accident) and had to have them taped and splinted so I couldn’t bend them for weeks. That was frustrating enough for me having never broken a single bone before!

I can imagine and feel your struggles, it’s no fun when you can’t do the things you usually do. I will say not being able to drive was really inconvenient at first, but I quickly got used to being ferried around by family and friends!

I've had a quiet couple of weeks really, no big changes in my life. I’m currently looking into having a holiday at some point next year at about this time, I’m not someone who enjoys the colder weather. Canary Islands seem ideal just need to find a good deal!

Good morning, yesterday was the 13th Anniversary of the death of our son which is one reason we always take some time away from home this time of year. What do you do on such a day, we have two choices we can sit at home and have very sad thoughts about how he died or we can go out and think positive thoughts, be thankful for the time we had with him and celebrate his life. With that in mind we went to the York Castle Museum and had a nice day wandering round, in the evening we went to a restaurant to have a nice meal and raise a glass or two to our departed son.

I demand that you start bringing me along with you and Mrs T, @Fan of Big Tone. I'll sleep in the car, bring a tent... I will find some way to camp, but your adventure looks awesome. I'm very envious! (in a good way).

I try to refrain from posting in here, as there's not much I can say on a daily basis, also who wants to read about me complaining about my health? 😂

Unfortunately, I will do that a little. My left hand, having dislocated about two weeks ago, is still giving me great pain. I tried to soak it in a nice, warm bath earlier in the week, but the bloody thing isn't happy. That's hEDS for you, whereas @cheeky~k8's proud of her hypermobility to the point I have nightmares. I really hate it, and can see just how much of a toll it took on my mum in her lifetime without her ever being diagnosed with it. The similarities in her declining health are very reminiscent of my own.

Positive things:

I am trying to multitask today, with effort going into the dev site and eventual upgrade. Very important prep work for that, which is quite exciting. I am focusing some time on communicating with newly joined members. I have only had one response, and despite writing each message personalised to that new member, I do think I should persist without feeling downhearted.

I'm also hoping to find some time to go see the old GOAT. ;)

Good morning, it’s a chilly start here.

The last day of our holiday today, so we are going to have a bit of a gentle day, we’ve walked lots during the last week, yesterday we walked into York along the River Ouse and back again, it’s longer than walking along the road but more pleasant.

@CliftonMagpie glad to hear you are on the mend and also pleased to hear @liampie is feeling better. Sorry to hear the gaffer @Chris is suffering though, I hope things improve soon.

Nice pictures @Piethagoram a friend lives in Bourton on the water the Cotswolds is a lovely area of the uk.

@menzinho we love the Canaries in winter we sometimes go in February but this year we are going in March, it’s great to get away from the winter gloom, I hope you get something fixed up.

Keep posting folks it’s great to hear your news.

@Fan of Big Tone I always remember the Castle Museum, the recreated streets seemed to me in my childhood, ahead of its time. Museums tended in that time  to be bland..but Castle Museum was great.

It's a lovely morning here. The Sun is strong & bright, but it is cold with a large amount of frost on the grass.

Have just completed my two mile walk, being well wrapped up. Have been taking a bit of a rest from walking since the beginning of the new year but It's time to get back to it.

I've put on several pounds so need to try to work that off & watch what I'm eating going forward.

Today's one of those I wish I could just get over with. I have nothing of relevance or interest to say personally. :(

Thanks Tone, keep updating us on your adventures because I will keep an eye out for them. I really hope you are enjoying it.

The first image reminds me of a village (I don't think it was a town) that I stopped at when we played Newport County in 2018.

It's nice to go explore areas.

Great news, Robbie! (on the weightless/walking front).

I try to have walks when possible, as I have also put on way too much weight. I feel like I am trimming down, but would be glad to get back to my old self. Do you have a goal on how much you wish to lose?

@Chris When I retired I was a steady 12.5 stone. I used to walk probably 5 or 6 miles a day being a multi drop delivery driver.

Since retiring I've tried to walk a few miles a day. That went down to 1 mile several weeks before new year then I took a rest from it.

I tried to be relatively active in the meantime, but having a few health conditions it takes effort some days to get the exercise I need.

I need to get below 13 stone again & get back to a healthy diet. So I need to lose 7 or 8 pounds.

After saying we were going to have a relaxing day we changed our minds and walked into York again because we wanted to walk on the walls, however I don’t like heights and they were very high in parts with no rails in parts so we walked part way then as soon as we could we got off with my legs feeling like jelly.

We walked around the rest of the walls on ground level which I was much happier with. Once we’d done that we had lunch in a lovely old pub and I had a pint of Timothy Taylor’s Landlord.

Back home tomorrow and back to reality after a lovely holiday.

@Robbie it sounds as if you are around my weight, I too would like to get under 13 stone but every time I get somewhere near I have a holiday and eat and drink more than I would normally. ☹️

i stayed behind work doing overtime to help out some late deliveries so that the morning shift would not be a mess, i took a college home too as i did not think it was fair they got made to stay on too. which meant they missed their bus and with it being one of those longer to wait ones, i offered to give them a lift home. im back now, still feeling a lot better. i decided to treat myself to chips from my fav chippy too.

@Fan of Big Tone your issue is you go on holiday more than you have your jogs on a weekend. get back to jogging. ;)

I visited  the Castle Museum with the rest of my class on a junior  school trip to York in 1958.I agree with you @Piethagoram the museum was great I remember seeing the streets you mention and being really impressed.I also remember there was a machine that played recordings of people speaking in various Yorkshire accents. This appealed to me a lot as my mother came from Bradford and I sometimes had difficulty understanding what relatives were talking about. One of the teachers with us at the museum,a Mr.Whitfield ,was also from Yorkshire and helped interpret.

Not so quiet this morning .Loud repeated tappings on the party wall began at 8.25 and continued intermittently all morning.I thought I'd listen to The Stones 'Beggars Banquet' loudly and then 'The 1812 overture' with cannon and bells afterwards. The next door noise continued but at least my music was louder and more enjoyable.

It's very overcast here and it is cold too.

I can identify with your frustration @super_ramwe have had our fair share of noisy neighbours. Usually it has been doing house improvements

It's sometimes funny when one neighbour blitzes their kitchen, they sell the house, then another new owner moves in & blitzes the kitchen once again.

It's happened several times over the years. It has been fairly quiet for several months though.😊

i dont know if its me but today feels very cold, even this morning i felt like i had woken up on one of the coldest days of the year. im trying to keep warm, so for dinner i went to look around nearby shops and decided to eat out instead having my packed launch. i will have it once home, where i can keep nice and warm.

@super_ram @Robbie sorry to read about the noise problems, i live next door two elderly couples and they are great.

i dont like loud noises so i can understand the annoyance when it happens very often and without warning. i personally think excessive noise should be treated more severely by noise polluion.

Excellent choice @super_ram I love that album. :clapping:

We are back home now it was only 1 hour 40 minutes so not too long a drive, the house is freezing though, after having had the heating switched off for a week, I think I’ll invest in one of those gadgets that lets you switch the heating on remotely.
