Notts County have signed goalkeeper Harry Griffiths, who joins Notts on a two-year contract after leaving Nottingham Forest

Director of Football Roberto Gagliardi said: "Itโ€™s vital that we create sufficient competition and support within the goalkeeping department and, as well as signing Alexโ€™s replacement, weโ€™ll be looking to add a third player in this position before the end of the transfer window.โ€

Welcome to Notts County Harry.

Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest have both shown interest in him, as did AFC Wimbledon prior to them, and it seems like he could be a brilliant keeper in the making. I wish him every chance of enjoying success for us.

Everything I am seeing suggests he's "naturally gifted." League Two, as our next first team's number one, could see him flourish with an understudy.

Even if he does well and improves, Notts will probably bring in another keeper, and like Tiernan Brooks, Harry Griffiths could end up moving on. I hope Iโ€™m wrong, though, and I do wish him all the best while heโ€™s with us.

@KingofCounty, i know. Tiernan Brooks could very well have been pushed this season but alex bass did seem like he would be here for a few more seasons. all we can hope is harry griffiths has been signed to be pushed into first team football nearing his contact expiry. 2 years, plus a one year choice to extend. he could be in line to be our future goalkeeper.

We are going to be signing three goalkeepers, maybe Iโ€™m in the minority here but Iโ€™d have thought the youth-team keeper could be used as the emergency and then youโ€™d have a first choice with a back-up who can potentially push him. I'm just thinking about maximising that wage budget, a third keeper seems a luxury to me.

No idea about Harry, whether heโ€™s the back-up or back-up to the back up, hope he can eventually make an appearance at some point. I guess weโ€™ll find out how likely that will be come August when first subs bench is announced.

Iโ€™m not sure where Harry Griffiths fits into the team right now. He looks like he needs a loan to get some proper game time and experience. The problem is, our level might not be quite right for his development. At 20, he really should be playing regularly or at least starting to.

Maybe Notts are thinking about sending him out to an Irish club. That could give him the minutes he needs without dropping too far in quality.
