EXCLUSIVE: Notts County Exploring Move For Sylvester Jasp...

Notts County pursue Śląsk Wrocław winger Sylvester Jasper, facing European competition to sign the 23-year-old London-born left-wing talent

I only put faith in official sources and PON, but I’m still curious what others make of it all.

Could there actually be something in it, or is it just another name thrown into the mix for the sake of it? The rumour mill reckons he’s signing in the next few days, so it’ll be interesting to see if it gathers any proper traction.

I don't like to speculate when the info is obtained from unofficial sources. I'd rather wait till Notts have made an announcement., but if it did have some truth to it I would regard it as a positive development.

We certainly need another quality striker for this level. I'm not sure that Sylvester fits the out & out striker role, he looks more like a winger.

He hasn't been a prolific goal scorer, but he does fit the type of player with his age who would attract interest from the Notts owners.

Well just have to see how things develop over the next few hours & days.

Wait and see, I never report on speculation because often the stories can't be believed, and you just end up spreading rumours. The only exception is discussing them, although in this case I am unsure where the original source got its information. I only learned about this myself from a chat, where someone said that he would be signing tomorrow.

I guess we will have to wait and see, though researching it, it sounds like Blackburn Rovers have shown interest in him in the past.

Clearly a very talented player, he had a loan in League 2 when he was a lot younger and he did well. He's played in the top league in Portugal and Poland so I would've thought he might be aiming a tad higher than League 2.

And if it did happen I wonder if it would imply we are going to change our formation slightly next season, because like Kouhyar I'd say he's more of a winger/wide forward.

Transfermarkt lists him mainly as a left winger, but he can also play attacking midfield and on the right. Sounds like the sort of player Notts might take a chance on. Not sure if the limit is two or three overseas players. If it’s three, there’s a bit of wiggle room, and that could open the door for him.

A signing like that might even hint at a change in formation, or maybe it’s about having players who can switch roles mid-game to keep things fresh.

He seems like a decent prospect, and time spent in a setup like ours could really help him grow. Whether there’s any truth to the talk, I’ve no idea. He’s versatile too, able to play on both wings and in the middle behind the striker, which would give us some useful choices going forward.

I’m sure not everyone would be thrilled if he signed, but I would be. With the right time and support, he might turn into a real gem for us.

There could have been something to this; we won't know unless someone asks the club during a media scrum. However, he signed 2 days ago for Železničar Pančevo.

FORMER U'S: Ex-Colchester winger joins Serbian top-flight...

Former Colchester United winger has a new club

It seemed like a signing that could’ve happened, and something I’d expect Notts to go for. If there was any contact, we’d likely never hear about it. Best of luck to Jasper in the next step of his career, he might’ve been a really handy player for us.

Just because Notts are rumoured to be interested doesn’t mean it’s true, and even if they were, there’s no guarantee the player would pick us over other clubs. Some of the reaction online has been a bit much, with people tweeting the club after he’d already moved. We can’t expect to match every offer, and even if the league he’s gone to isn’t the strongest, we’re still four divisions below the top. It’s a good move for Sylvester Jasper. He seemed like a decent player, but some people were going on about stats from Wikipedia, forgetting he didn’t exactly shine at Colchester and has been playing abroad, like that proves anything.
