Roberto Gagliardi interview

Featured Replies

My first impressions are that it was a good interview, i believe I got to know him a little & what he is all about. I believe he is just the type of person that the Reedtz brothers would employ in that roll.

I get the impression that he knows what he is talking about, & he has lots of knowledge, especially in date analysis, to fulfil his specific roll.

He's certainly been very busy since he began working for Notts with 11 players being recruited & 11 players leaving including 2 loaned out during the summer transfer window.

I thought He was keen to mention that the club were specifically looking for players that could compete physically in league 2 & he believes that the squad has now been strengthened compared to last season.

Also, the way he was talking we should expect for more players to arrive & leave before the transfer window shuts.

I agree he seems very knowledgeable and I think this interview was a good idea to show fans what he’s like, how he thinks etc., it’s a bit of a moral booster, it certainly gave me hope for the future.

I’d like to see an interview with Dr. David Rhodes to talk about his role within the club.

What a good positive interview, filled with enough information to show that he is a genuine guy with a hunger for knowledge and a great understanding of what is needed to bring success to the club.

He talks well and obviously has the backing of the brothers.

All in all an interesting interview, both allowing us to meet and hear his message and hopefully understand his position and attributes.

I don’t understand how someone new can be this unpopular with fans already. He needs time to settle in. No one is perfect, and he should be given a fair chance to do his job properly.

In time, his love for Notts will grow, and once it feels like more than just a job, things will become much easier for him.

I think if he’s given a chance, he’ll start to make things better. People shouldn’t be too quick to judge because everyone needs time to settle in. I liked the interview. It felt like the club wants fans to go a bit easier on him, and I think stuff like this helps people understand more.

I don’t get why anyone would expect the club’s own media team to ask hard questions. That’s just not going to happen.

It’s encouraging to see the club leaning into data and analysis to shape its decisions. They’re not chasing big names for the sake of it, there’s a clear focus on spotting gaps and addressing them with purpose. That kind of thinking helps you stay sharp in a league where money talks, without getting swept up in it.

The approach to the loan market was a real eye-opener. If the link with Spurs carries on, it could be a clever way to bring in strong players without overspending. So far, it’s been smart business and a sign that the club’s thinking long-term.

The interview covered most of the time between when he was appointed, when he arrived, and what he’s been doing over the summer. I liked hearing that the staff seem to be going to matches and playing an active part in recruitment, planning, and helping with tactics.

Martin Paterson’s recent interview explained his role and confirmed that he makes the final decisions on match days. That shows he’s being given useful information to guide him.

Isn’t this what we wanted for Stuart Maynard last season? For him to have more support, instead of making stubborn choices and going into games with a “whatever happens, happens” attitude.

It's too late for Stuart, but it does appear that the Club have learned lessons from what happened between January & May when Stuart was left on his own.

It’s refreshing to hear someone in a senior role speak so clearly about the club’s direction. Gagliardi comes across as thoughtful and forward-thinking, building a squad that’s not just for the short term. With eleven signings already, he’s still focused on improving the starting line-up without simply stockpiling players. That’s a clever approach.

He also seems to have found the right rhythm with the owners and coaching staff. It feels like a proper team effort, not just people carrying out instructions. The mention of technical board meetings and regular contact with loan clubs is reassuring. That kind of joined-up thinking gives hope for a strong and steady season.

i think the timing of the interview is quite good, with the focus on the weekend coming to make meadow lane a fortress and explaining the thought process behind the signings. i am not one of them to lose hope based on signings, it takes more to chip at my positivity and i think i am quite patient. i do think a lot of notts fans need to be more mindful about how they quite easily go into meltdowns.

That’s exactly what I mean. Fans asked for this before, and now it’s finally here.

We’ve still got a head coach who’s learning, but he’ll gain a lot from the people around him. With his own drive to win matches, having that support should help things go better than they would have without it.

Well, if the club has learned anything from listening to fans pleas, they should be trying to sort out the lone striker requirement.

The interview was decent, most of what you would expect, but the intention for the interview wasn't aimed at someone like me; it was aimed toward his doubters and the fans who are concerned. I thought I read that the club was looking at bringing in another striker; I know they don't grow on trees, but the thought of signing someone who can score 20+ needs to be lowered to someone who can get double digits easily.

So far this season, we don't seem to want to walk the ball into the net, which will make it difficult for someone like Matthew Dennis. I hope Roberto Gagliardi sees that we need someone who can lead the line.

While we relied on what we refer to as "walking the ball into the net," it did lead to a lot of goals being scored.

There's no reason why we need to avoid it; just don't rely on it as the only means of scoring.
