Squad Registration

Notts have named their squad for registration purposes. Big surprise is the omission of Jack Hinchy who looks like he's going on loan.

Here is the Notts statement.

"We have submitted our list of registered players to the EFL".

"Clubs are required to confirm a maximum of 22 outfield players aged 21 or over who are eligible to play in League Two until January 2026.The submitted list is as follows: Jacob Bedeau, Keanan Bennetts, Barry Cotter, Matthew Dennis, Kellan Gordon, Conor Grant, Will Jarvis, Alassana Jatta, Jodi Jones, Maz Kouhyar, Lewis Macari, Rod McDonald, Lucas Ness, Ollie Norburn, Matt Palmer, Matty Platt, Scott Robertson, Mai Traore and Nick Tsaroulla. Kameron Muir has also been registered as our club-developed player. Jack Hinchy is the only senior player omitted, with the club currently seeking a loan move to support his development".

Feel a bit for Hinchy, I think when he was called on back end of last season he was pretty good. I think he would've been fine as a squad player, but for whatever the reason we signed a lot of midfields this summer and we have too many players in this position now.

I actually think in terms of his development he'll be better off playing in the National League regularly, look at Ed Francis, similar scenario now playing in League 1 with Exeter (and I think Hinchy is a tad better).

Jack Hinchy still has potential to improve and become a good midfielder; his start at Notts was the opposite of Curtis Edwards, but their worth in our squad was different, too. Curtis Edwards always felt like he was a squad signing, but surprisingly did very well, and early on he really did impress. His desire to do well reminded me much of Jim O'Brien. Just younger, but he did arrive with a smile and some leadership values.

It's a shame his injury lost that momentum, but Hinchy grew into the squad the more chances he had.

I don't think he had the best of starts at Notts, nor did he become someone who looked like he could be a regular first team member. He did well enough, put in the effort, and improved. I do think with the midfield being so top heavy, we were always destined to see some movement in this area. To be honest, I thought Notts would sign a few more players in this area, despite there being zero need now.

I hope Hinchy finds a good loan move, but it's difficult to see how he would fit in without significantly improving.

A field where dreams become reality.

It says a lot about the loan players brought in that someone like Curtis Edwards, who can play in different midfield roles, has been pushed out. Jack Hinchy is less of a worry, but it still shows the club has looked back at last season and is now changing how it goes about recruitment.

If the loan signings do well and Notts can keep improving, I hope it helps us bring in stronger permanent players in the future. That would be a good step forward.

There’s nothing surprising in the registration update. I’m actually a bit surprised the club bothered to post it, since most of it was obvious. Still, it’s good they did. These updates often get overlooked, but keeping fans informed is important.

i cant say i thought there would be any difference from the updated registration, it seemed likely that some needed to go and i am surprise we have not agreed mutual terms for jack hinchy to leave. i dont think he was bad, but he has not been great and is someone we can easily do better replacing.

The club already seems to be planning ahead for January. They're freeing up registration spots and sending players out on loan, which suggests movement is expected. With Gagliardi leaving, it all lines up. I wonder if Paterson had a hand in this, especially after asking for reinforcements and not seeing much happen. Maybe Gagliardi was slow in parts of his role, and things boiled over, leading to his exit.
