MAGnet Links - Oldham Athletic

On Saturday Notts take on Oldham Athletic at Meadow Lane. How many links can we find between the two clubs? Owners, managers, players etc.

I’ll start with Craig Dudley who played for Notts between 1996 and 1999 making 31 appearances and scoring 3 goals. After a few loan moves he signed for Oldham in 1999 and stayed until 2002, making 60 appearances and scoring 10 goals.

How many more links can we find?

The one & only Lee Hughes who played for Oldham 2007/9 & scored 25 goals & Notts, 2009/13 & scored 59 goals.

He scored 30 goals in our promotion season.

He scored 347 goals in a career that included 782 appearances.

Nice one @Robbie who could ever forget Lee Hughes and that promotion season.

Andy Hughes - who played over 100 games for us around the year 2000 and went on to play for Leeds among others - started his career at Oldham.

Steve Cherry signed for Oldham Athletic in his later years, but wiki doesn't have any appearances for him, but he joined them in 1999. To be clear, I got this from having read his book, I just wasn't certain about his appearances and I didn't find it by looking at Wikipedia.

Billy Dearden played for Oldham Athletic in 1966, and later managed us in 2004. The unusual link, having no playing experience with Notts, but being in charge of players.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

I remember Billy Dearden managing Notts but I didn’t know he played for Oldham, thanks @CliftonMagpie
