Notts Heritage 1862

Featured Replies

I'm really pleased the the Club has announced this today. Notts do have a very rich history to be told and celebrated.

I am sure that there will be lots of interest & I hope that dozens of artifacts will be collected that will be eventually displayed in a museum at the Ground.

The fact that we are the oldest professional football club in the world gives us a unique status and this new venture is way overdue, it’s high time we started celebrating our heritage and bringing tourists to Meadow Lane, well done Notts I hope it’s a huge success.

All this is actually coming from the old supporter meetings which I used to be a member of; it's nothing new. It was said in one of the first meetings by Matthew Rimmington back when Sarah Gooding worked at the club. It's good to see it finally here, as it's been years in the making, but I thought, based on the last meeting I had attended, that Alice Kelk had found a club historian to help curate items for a museum.

It's good news because we should be preserving the club's history, and there are a lot of knowledgeable fans out there who could help with this.

A field where dreams become reality.

Feels like it's been something a long time in the making.

I’d be interested to find out about the really early days, in the build up to the League forming and how Notts were involved with that. And the idea that we could’ve then been voted out of the league after that first season for some reason!

The recent history section from about 2000-2020 will be pretty bare, we’ll have the infamous Munto season along with the League 2 Title… Maybe a picture of Russell King as Public Enemy No.1. Oh, and a plaque for the time all we had to block the whole of Hungary to stop our website from crashing after we signed Bajner!

its typical of notts to take their time to finally do something, its good to see but i cant help but feel we should have been working on this sooner. i guess its better late than never at all.

I’m interested in how Notts plans to go about this and how it will be done properly. If there are items in private collections, the club should try to buy them if possible. But what’s to stop them being sold again later if money becomes tight? It sounds good in theory, but it needs careful thought.

Long overdue, a lot of clubs have been focusing on this sort of stuff for years. It's like the memory club with ex-players, though, and the Young Pies. If they don't commit and make sure it is done properly, it will lose focus and become a waste of time. I haven't seen any news about the memory club for some time, but I know the Young Pies are finally back on track.

Preserving the clubs history and having a museum would be of benefit to all Notts fans.

The club are doing very well with many of the fan driven initiatives. They do need the right people though, and it should always be done for the good of the club and not for personal egos.

I am sure most of those who help want it to be a success for Notts. At the same time, I am mindful that some might see it as a chance to boast about their part in it or even about things they might borrow.

It is great to see the Reedtz brothers and Notts working to bring more of the club’s history into Meadow Lane. This matters because we often take seasons for granted, especially when the team is doing well on the pitch. I hope fans who own memorabilia will be willing to loan those special items to the club at no cost.

There are many collectors who hold winning medals and historic keepsakes that deserve to be shared with everyone.
