Ricky Ravenhill & Junior Brown join Mansfield Town

<!--url{0}--> Mansfield Town have signed midfielders Ricky Ravenhill and Junior Brown on contracts until the end of the season.

Ravenhill, 33, has not been a regular for Northampton Town this season and left the Cobblers on Tuesday.

Brown, 25, had been on loan from Oxford United since late November, and left the U's by mutual consent.

"Ricky will add a wealth of experience. He is someone who has achieved success in League Two previously," said Stags boss Adam Murray.

"[He] is a leader and organiser - specific qualities which I think we needed. Ricky will raise the standards."

Ravenhill began with Barnsley and has made a total of 488 appearances during his career, scoring 23 goals and gaining four promotions.

He also won the League Two title with Notts County in 2009-10.

@Dan - Week seek a Stag insiders view of this deal. ;)

Personally I think he'll be a good signing for Mansfield, he has that experience and work ethnic that will work well with them. I hope he becomes a fan favourite with them because he could do with settling now, so if he keeps his head down and attributes I can see it working.

I wish him all the best.

Good luck Ricky, Not a bad word to say.

Mansfield need a Boost in that department

I was a bit concerned when I heard we were in for him as I saw him deteriorate during his time at Notts & if he's not good enough for Northampton I'm not sure why he would be good enough for us. That saying I wish him all the best and hope he proves me wrong.

@Dan it does help when teams know your strengths and of course you play with better players, a part of me hates to admit this but Mansfield are far superior than Northampton Town.

At least for this season! ;)

Great signing for the stage imo. An excellent player who got over shadowed at Notts by Bishops ego. Ricky was always the better player who grafted and put more of a shift in imo, but at the time a lot of Notts fans were still involved with the cult 'I love Bish'

Fortunately I was deprogrammed very early on by a cult expert who locked me in a room until I could no longer utter the lie of "he covers every blade of grass" so saw the real ego on the field.

i liked him, i think he will do well with them. hope he enjoys his time at the club and perhaps who knows we may see him back at the lane with them, as we beat the stags again. :D

Tough tackler, leader and someone who gives no less than 100%.

He should do well with them.

Sensible in my opinion, you know what to get and what to expect. Hope the Stag fans warm to him.

I hope you're right @notts-joe

He'll get on ok with most of our fans I think if he keeps giving that 100%, that's all we want to see from them at this level isn't it?

I gather he wont be earning a great deal which will be less of risk for them.

He should prove himself to be adequate signing, in league two you just want someone who can give steady performances and you will get this from ravenhill. What else would you like within January @Dan

Well the gaffer is doing the business for us at the moment. He's signed us a left back on loan from Leicester today, along with Billy Kee from Scunny on loan as well as sending a few others out, he's doing a quick rebuilding job in a few days to try and keep us up before a complete overhaul in the summer. We could also be getting Michael Raynes from Oxford & we've signed Junior Brown who is a great little player, so we're all really happy at the moment.

A great game is to bet at what minute Ricky will inevitably get a yellow card.

Don't you go putting our RIIIICCCCCKKKKYY into any betting scandals @Super_Danny_Allsopp
