Ray Trew interview

Just heard a clip from the interview with Ray to be aired on Radio Nottingham tomorrow and he says that Notts have cost him £19 million so far. If that's true it's a staggering amount for a league one side, did I hear it right or was it £9 million?

You heard right. Lots of accusations flying around the net regarding whether the club is poorly run if it costs that much because the munto debts weren't that bad!!

Considering where we are currently playing wise it doesn't make good listening!

What did he say in our interview? Why does everywhere else claim exclusive cover when we have it on here.

I'm shocked you forget @tonyhateley.

Question from TonyHateley's six year old Grandson George: My Grandad says you bought Notts County for a pound, the tooth fairy gave me £2 last week can I buy it off you?

Its very easy to buy a football club but its no so easy maintaining one. Whilst i may have brought it for a pound i have spent over £18million to date either in direct cash or through sponsorships directly and indirectly by companies under my control.

*sigh credit to the BBC for being another place to pick up on an amateur site.

Damn, can we not copy or protect anything we put on here?

You mean like? Oh wait... I'll be sued won't I.

If he chooses to sponsor Notts using one of his companies, I don't think this counts this as a cost that he has put into the club. That's a cost of that separate business.

Is the interview saying 'Look how much I've put into the club, give me credit'. If so, this can easily be turned round and saying a lot of this expense is his own fault, especially the last couple of years through bad appointments (Curle, Kiwomya, Short, etc...), and allowing those managers to sign rubbish players on astronomical wages (e.g Danny Haynes).

I'm all for club owners revealing costs of running clubs, but if you buy a football club, you know you are going to lose money.

Nothing wrong with the way the clubs ran. its smart clawing back the money but I hope its spent in the squad and given to Derry to spend (not to pay him off).

You should know me @notts-joe if it's longer than yesterday I'll forget.

In fairness to the BBC this hasn't been pinched from this site it's an interview with Ray Trew which is being broadcast tomorrow.

The full interview can be heard here https://audioboom.com/boos/2879354-ray-trew-full-interview?playlist_direction=forward

Main points I found interesting were that our player budget is 18th in the division last season it was 6th, Bristol City's budget is 6 times our budget.

Shaun and Greg will be here for seasons to come. Greg applied for the job in his own right, then Derry came along and said he wanted the job with Greg as No.2.

Appointing a manager is always a gamble but they took a punt with SD & GA.

All we need then is patience then?

I see his philosophy with bringing in Youth. To make this club sustainable, Also i like how he is seeing the winds of change in regasrds to football.

14,000 & 8,000 is what the Strike Force is on at Bristol City, Almost our entire squad is on that much. ha ha ha

"Build it and they will come" .

P.S How long will it be before Mr Al-Hawawi pulls the Plug? You don't say words, if you don't mean it.

Interesting times ove the next couple of Decades.

The Munto debts were just over 7 million. So that aside, we've set him back 12 million over five years. That includes the investment to bring the ground up to scratch (MLSB, conference and banqueting) and paying off 54 sacked managers.

His idea to make Notts sustainable by increasing off-the-pitch income, which doesn't fluctuate with the team's fortunes, is a good one, but you can only take a team with our support so far.

Is that the full interview? I thought people were banging on about this 19 million figure.... and he didn't mention it once.

The 19 million segment has been published for awhile, interesting it wasn't included in the full interview.
