Investment from Hungary?

I was interested to see Ricardo Moniz emerge as the bookies' favourite to be our new manager. I know bookies' favourites come and go, as people lay bets on managers whose odds are already shortening, triggering a chain reaction. But this is genuinely curious - few would have even heard of Moniz, much less have him down as a potential candidate for a potentially fourth-level club. His last job may have ended in failure, but this is still a man with experience of the Premier League and Bundesliga and who won a national championship only recently. So is something going on?

As he managed Red Bull Salzburg to the Austrian title a few years ago and worked for Red Bull in New York, there has been gossip that Red Bull are about to get involved. I hope not: if Red Bull were to get involved, that would be the end of Notts County. It wouldn't make any sense either in view of our bigger neighbours. Coventry strikes me as a far likelier victim of RB - big, ready-made stadium, city starved of success and no rivals.

There might be another clue from Moniz's past though. In 2012-13 he managed Ferencvaros, one of Hungary's biggest clubs. We all remember the outpouring of affection/cringeworthy love-in with about 30,000 Hungarians when Bajner joined the club - maybe one of them is wealthy and is looking to invest?

He does seem to go where the money is - at the start of the season he was hired (and after 7 games fired) by 1860 Munich, who are part-owned by a Jordanian businessman and who had previously tried to appoint none other than Sven-Göran Eriksson as manager.

I would like investors to come into Notts.

However, if those investors are in the form of Red Bull, then I will not support Red Bull Notts County or any other of its franchise variants.

I'm with you there. A Red Bull franchise would not be the club I love.

However, I think it's unlikely. Moniz resigned from Salzburg citing differences of opinion with the board, so I doubt he'd voluntarily work for the same people again.

I've been told the Daily Mail are claiming we are about to taken over, I don't know properly because I just saw a screenshot but I wouldn't want this really. I really don't know what to say, I just hope whatever happens is good news.

A field where dreams become reality.

Only time will tell. We'll just have to wait and see, won't we. Dave Kevan did a good job at Notts before, he knows League 1 as well, so don't see why he can't help us out again.

If you saw the same one I did, it was a fake.

It's certainly very intriguing as to what is going on, the new manager seems to be a very odd choice and I am surprised he is even considering the job, however as always I will give my full backing as I hope others will.

Less than 20% of all statements in that rag turn out to be true of those that can be checked at least.
