I am hoping for a budget whereby... those who "choose" to stay a home, cannot possibly have more in the bank than I do....

that is currently not the case.

Not getting into this one because the Tory myth of millions choosing to stay at home is pure rubbish. The welfare state is there to catch people when they fall. The problem now is the myth that millions have chosen to throw themselves into poverty is exactly that a myth.

I expect a lot of people who voted Tory because they were scared of the snp will tomorrow find themselves in a horrific situation. Let's hope they remember that in 2020.

Cutting the ability to live for the majority of disabled people in this country is nothing to be laughed at. Millions in poverty is not to be mocked.

Tories may mock the campaign of Jeremy Corbyn, but has anyone taken the time to listen to the actual words?

I just hope it remains kind to people, do not just target people on disabilities or the unemployed. Cut down on foreign aid, people in this nation require that support.

I want it to target the career unemployed... and yes there are still some! However it must be JUST!

Tax credits which are likely to be the biggest target and disability money. Tax credits are for people already in work, but wages have stagnated so their wage isn't enough to live on. Thats why it is called working tax credits.

I hope the budget doesn't effect the police force, they're already failing quite badly around here and we have more CPO's than actual officers. I am concerned about the benefit system, as I know it's largely put troubles on disabled people and most of which are vulnerable.

We should support the disabled and vulnerable, I do not care about those who try to live off government hand outs - Make them work for it.

Just take care of our own.

Th problem has been in the past few years the tories have taken the idiots of programmes like Benefit Street and sold it to the nation as anyone on benefits is like that. Living with  disability is hard enough, but then to know your own government isnt willing to support you through the difficult times is ridiculous. This is the bit where I find politics difficult because try as I might I just cant see a reason for punishing these people in a modern day society.

And there was me thinking you may be able to just answer the question... and not go all political.

I agree that people on benefits have been stigmatised by some sections of the press and I think that is a deliberate policy so that when the axe falls on the most needy in our society then people who have listened to the propaganda will say "it serves them right they are all scroungers". 

 

I don't think this budget will do anything for people who need help to get by day to day in fact their situation will probably be made a lot worse, whilst the people at the top of the pile will be unaffected.

How can you answer the question and not "go political" @PTID1862? The budget is inherently political.

 

The problem is that wages have stagnated, and that's a consequence of austerity. It's a vicious circle. The whole talk about the "living wage" is simply an admission that the minimum wage is not enough to live on, and the government is spending billions subsidising business that do not pay their employees a proper wage. Far more money is spent this way than on out-of-work benefits! These companies are the real benefit cheats.

 

The government could cut its spending here by raising the minimum wage to a sensible level. But instead it's going to attack working people, and Labour will nod away in agreement.

It's a funny world when a lot of people have a witch hunt for the few benefits cheats knocking round. Saving what, £200 a fortnight for each person caught? Yes, I agree fraudsters should be caught, but let's look at the bigger picture.

Let's throw the corrupt bankers in jail and strip them of all their assets they fraudulently own from tax payer money. This will generate billions.

This won't happen though, as they are all Tory chums. You are being deceived by the mega rich into turning in on your own society when the criminals are the ones at the top.

This is why forums should never discuss politics because the communication starts to become like school yard disagreements.

How was the budget for you?

If you really want to know, I don't like budgets in general. I don't like the way they sit there silently, then suddenly decide to sing loudly when your favourite TV programme comes on. Or as soon as you pick up the phone. Or when they fly over, sit on your head and promptly have a crap on it.

Unfortunately a lot of people tend to look upon politics, and budgets, quite selfishly. It's understandable, but I find it better to look at it with a wider scope.

Tory's and their budgets will always amount to one thing - the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Obviously increasing the gap between the two. 

It's not the first time. 'Maggie Thatcher gave us the opportunity to buy our own home, so we like her.' - Discounting the fact that social housing has been in deficit ever since, and the people that actually need this service can't get it.
