Rolls Royce Friendly

I've been weighing up I would be attending this, yet I have a fair few things which require being done and so I have sat this one out. I'm hoping to hear further good news about the style of play, not that we should gauge the squad based on the standard of opposition but more to see who's doing well within the early stages.

Anyone going? Are you there?

I am waiting for the bigger games myself, I don't want to get carried away by beating teams we should regardless by 8 or more goals.

Still, I am interested in hearing how we do and other fans opinions.

2-0 up, Spencer seems to be having a good game.

Quite a positive start from the first team, hopefully plenty more to come. :D

Good result, always one you would expect but pleased to see us knock 9 goals past them.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

I know it is against lower teams but they have impressed me some good passing and not eveng giving them chance to do anything on the ball when we was to lose it lets hope we can do the same against Grimsby, port vale and Scunthorpe as then we can see what they are like against better teams.

On another note i asked Lennox when he was signing after the game, he said he don't know and its hard to impress when you're a trialist with nothing to do so lets hope he gets more of a test in the future so we can judge him and jalal properly.

Goals coming from Stead x2, Spencer x2, Valencic, Adams, Snijders, Sarpong and a trailist.

Thanks @notts-joe obviously we can't read too much into these games against opposition like Arnold and Rolls Royce but from the reports I have read I think we have grounds to be quietly optimistic for the coming season.

Spencer and Stead two each eh? The new SAS?

Scoring will breed confidence, that will encourage the style of play which Ricardo Moniz wants and in turn I suspect each player will want to try getting on the score sheet. It makes a change from trying to pass the ball into the back of the net, only for one of our strikers or advancing players to be nervous about shooting but yes, we can't read to much into it.

As I say, Port Vale and Scunthorpe United will be the tests.

If we can beat them convincingly or just by the odd goal, it should mean we have a decent season ahead of us for once. Obviously football is about 'surprises' and 'shocks' but I am quietly confident myself.

@notts-joe Grimsby will also be a good test don't forget they were in the conference play of final so a good result against them would also make me optimistic.

Ha yes! Alfreton also to some degree, they are not a bad side but struggled with returning to being a semi-pro club.

Grimsby should be the comparison to the lower half of League Two, whilst the two teams I mentioned will be test more on par with those capable of promotion from our division but again, we know friendlies are not always taken seriously.

At least we are doing that.

Poor Rolls Royce, if Arnold could not handle us these won't.

RR played better than Arnold did.

We play these games because of the connections we have with both.  You can't read anything into these games other than its helping to get the players fitness levels up.  If anyone does want to read into them last season we beat Arnold 4-0 and RR 4-1 so from that perspective we have done much better.

The tests will come and it will be a good measure for us is when we play Port Vale and on paper a good Scunthorpe team
