Bugs, Issues etc (Upgrade)

It's to be expected that PON may face a few issues, such as bugs and things that are not quite right. I ask members to notify me in order for anything to be resolved, if I am unaware of problems then it is likely that they may go unnoticed.

If you could post below any matters which may arise, I will investigate and have them resolved ASAP.

Members who are unable to respond to this topic, feel free to PM me directly or you can also e-mail me - Here.

I hope that PON will resume normal service within a couple of days time, so please do bare with me whilst these changes are implemented and the sites operation is handled as smoothly as possible. This is more a scenario of 'what if', however since the upgrade is a major one - I do expect a few problems but nothing in which PON cannot handle.

Regards,
Notts-Joe

This is the first time I've been able to log on and post without any issues. I am using my kindle at the moment so s the mobile view working better than the main cpu one? Or have the gremlins been ironed out @notts-joe

Not fair on the prediction league though as I couldn't get on to post my predictions!!! I call for an admin to rule on this!!!

It's the same theme, just responsive mate.

Still a few concerns but it's getting there, I wouldn't mind gremlins though - I enjoyed the film series!

Sorry about the PL, though you could have messaged me. I'll leave @weymouthPIE to decide what happens. :)

I'm going on holiday tomorrow and I haven't had much time to play with the new layout but one thing I noticed on the mobile site I can't find any moderation options.

I don't either, in fact I don't show as a Admin with full powers but I expect this to be resolved soon enough.

I'm sure it's only  teething problems and will all be sorted when I get back.

Still awaiting for a fix for the home part of the site, it looks like this may take some time.

Tapatalk is also playing up for me, I will try to get to the bottom of this and anything else which is noticeable. The good thing is the chat is live!

According to the home page the site will be fully up and running by 2012

The layout of the forum is a lot cleaner and it seems to be faster now too (I found the forum a bit slow and clunky before). Looking forward to seeing the finished article!

That is a message written when the site was first started.

Unfortunately that cannot be edited easily, so it has been left whilst more pressing matters are dealt with.

I firmly believe this will be well worth the hassle and believe me, it's been a lot of hassle! Hair pulling moments and I now resemble Homer Simpson or more famously @super_ram. Haha!! Yes, it will be fester and smoother, even when everything comes back - you should like the mobile view (that is lightening fast and fully supported).

Onwards & Upwards,

When I logged on just now I pressed the "Unread content" button and I saw that we had beaten Sheffield United 2-1. Could it be true? Has the last year just been a terrible dream? Alas no, it was just an old post. I got all excited too.

Not having a go, I realise it's a work in progress and the forum is working very nicely. It's not your fault we got relegated.

Edit: when I go into my search settings, I just select "topics", then I don't see the old articles that are being put online again.

Ha - I am having to edit every single article submitted to the site, myself and @cheeky~k8 have almost completed this process.

Yet when we edit them, the new content streams automatically think they're new.

Today should see things go back to normal, I know I've been saying this for the past few days but we have almost completed the tiring tasks. Once we have, I can finally roll onto project madness! *hears music.... No... Turn it off!! It's not that type of madness. :P

Getting a cookie warning every time I visit? Even after clicking ok thousands (ok a few) of times???

Any ideas @notts-joe

What browser are you using? Chrome? or this happening on your Kindle?

Can you try deleting your cookies and then seeing if the message goes a way? It should only show once and once clicked, it's gone until your browser decides to clear itself/user does so.

Let me know please @hissingdwarf.

chrome. I'll clear now and re-enter

Gone now, but i'll monitor over the next few days as it seems to reappear when there is an extended time between visits.

I saw a very smart PON when I logged in this morning. Particularly like the option to change the background. Nice work!

However, I'm never happy unless I'm picking fault with something, so ... posts in the forum now have a black bar across the top, which makes it hard to see the names of posters who aren't admins as the text is black too (see my and liam_pie's names). And I'm still really missing the "View new content" button. I know I can set "Unread content" to display all recent content, whether read or unread, but I have to go into it and click the "Everything" box every time, which is a pain. Or maybe I'm just missing something?

Actually, scrub that. I've just discovered the "All activity" in the "Community" menu, perfect. Maybe you could put it next to "Unread content" on the forum home screen to help the dense ones like me?

@DangerousSausage - It should respect your choice, so if you change the settings it should always keep them that way until you decide to alter them. Are you always having to change them to your preferred setup? If so, I will look into why this is happening.

There's still a few things with the layout we are tinkering with. You will notice a few things still requiring attention - though I do agree with you it is hard to see. I may simply change the usergroup colour to something else - yet the bar may see additional work or css added. Please do keep pointing things out, as myself and @Pete T are eager to see what people think.

Good suggestion regarding the 'All Activity'.

@hissingdwarf - That would probably be wise, yet if it popups up once - this could be my fault for flushing things. If it persistently shows, even after clicking okay - then it will be a bug.

Cheers!

Yesterday I used "Unread content" a few times, and each time it went back to default. Since I found "All activity" I've set it as my default and now it's always there at the top of the screen and works very well. Would just be good if it were easier to find for the newbies.

So far, not happened since with the cookie warning reappearing.

Agree with @DangerousSausageabout the black header on forum posts. Impossible to see his name! Some of the others stand out on the black, but some don't.

Activity centre seems fine to me. A straight swap for me from live centre to this.

Moods not working yet. Can't think of anything else tbh. All looks good to me, but I only use the forums so really we need others to comment on the main part of the site.

No, I agree with you.

I'm not sure if the breadcrumb (what the bar is called) is able to have another link without making things seem a little ugly. See the bar collect the location of members, which extends quite long and adding another link my break things a little. I will speak to @Pete T - He's done the skin for us but it might be a case of swapping the links over, so the 'unread' is then found inside the navigation and the activity stream is placed within the breadcrumb.

We'll also look into the header, I think at this stage just re-styling or changing colours would work.

Moods will be fixed asap, I wasn't aware of this but will look into it.

I have managed to fix the Tapatalk issues - Yet I could do with this confirming by normal users, as I can't fully strike it off without knowing this isn't just repaired for my usergroup.

@DangerousSausage, @hissingdwarf, @Dripsey3, @Canadian and @liampie.

Would the above members be able to help me out by checking? (The app informs me you are all users of it)

Cheers!
