Some of the comments on that site are vile. A while back I read a comment suggesting that 1000 Muslims should be gunned down in an act of revenge - the comment was left up and no-one even took issue with it. That's when I decided I was done with it. The board clearly needs modding but it sounds like things have now swung to the other extreme.

Really never want to see anything like that here. Let's just draw a line under the message board politics and get on with whingeing about Notts, football and the world in general!

Agree with @DangerousSausage. Everyone welcomes the influx of Notts fans on here, regardless of if they posted on Mad or not tbf.

I appreciate some newer members may still feel 'rankled' by bans etc...form there, but guys and gals, lets move on from there now and ensure PoN is the place where people want to come and discuss all things related to Notts.

Many thanks

HD

Couldn't agree more, this thread has gone way off topic and the majority on here arent in the slightest bothered about what is going on at Mad.

There is a personal message system if you guys want to discuss it further.

Elite, I seem to have gotten unbanned - tried logging in all of a sudden and it worked (whereas the last time I tried logging in a week ago or so, I was still banned).  So what's it all about?  If you're not inclined to post it publicly, would you mind emailing me with a general synopsis please?  Use my username here @ gmail.com.  Cheers!

I don't want to bring it to this forum andy, so I'll mail you later.

What right do you have to tell me I'm wrong?  You're not my Granddaughter.

How does the personal message system work?  I notice if I hover over someone's username, a little 'message' option appears.  Is it as simple as that, If I click the envelope thingy then it will be a private message to only them?

Thanks Tony, that's just what I want.  I'll keep it to those who are interested and leave the rest of you in peace!

lol The point of being happy we have all the new posters is so the board keeps going throughout the day, not leaving in peace! Just leave the mad bit out lol!

ok, thanks everyone!  Nice to see Dangerous here too.

As for New Year's resolutions, I've been meaning to take another stab at quitting smoking for some time.  Not necessarily as a resolution, but just 'because'.  Some recent research suggests that people who quit by the time they're 40, on average, have the same life expectancy of someone that never smoked.  Well, I turned 40 in the summer, and being a single father of a daughter who is now 8 - I want to be around for her as long as possible.  The downside is that I actually really enjoy smoking, have access to cheap cigarettes, and turn into an even bigger jerk than I already am when going through withdrawl.  I was considering getting a vaporator device to aid in quitting smoking, but I tried one belonging to a friend and it was horrid, plus new research is also indicating that the flavoring chemicals they use to enhance the flavors are carcinogenic - probably not as bad as smoking, but still bad nonetheless...

Have a word with @tarquinbeech Tarkers might build you a diy vap one and send it over for you. (At extortionate prices one would assume because I get the feeling he is a man with an eye for a deal!)

Apologies for my stupidity, but I was on another site when a notification popped up that I had received a reply to a message I sent to another member earlier.  How do I read that reply???  I've clicked on my profile but can't see an option there, how do I get to read the reply please?

We bought a new (to us) motorhome just before Christmas my new Years resolution is to go away at least once every month in it.

Being the shy retiring person I am i 'm not keen on parties so we went away at new year to a farm site and saw the new year in with just a couple of horses for company. We are actually away in it  now as well so that's twice already in January.

Andy, re your New Years resolution.........I would try to stick with the vaping.

The first time you try it, your body is not aware of the new substances inhaled, which are basically two different types of glycol mixed in different ratios by different juice makers.

The first time I tried, it took me 2 or 3 days of constant vaping, trying different mix ratios, to get used to it......then your lungs start to clear of black tar (2 months?), then your sense of smell and taste return......it is a strange experience but well worth the effort.

After 2 years of vaping I can honestly say it is now an absolute pleasure to keep trying new flavours, different strengths and glycol ratios....my last batch was Tutti Fruity, Bananarama, Apple Rings, Strawbana, Afternoon Delight etc etc

Try a cheap CE5-type model first (10 USD?) and a few different mix ratios 50/50 or 80/20............in no time you will be building your own coils and wrapping your own wicks!!

ps I have replied to your Personal message so as not to bore everyone on here with the other matter.

There's a shop up the top of my road that sells them and I believe you can try out some of the various models.  Here they're not cheap - around $80-100 to get set up.  At some point I'll walk in, try things out and go from there.  For now I'm still enjoying my morning coffee with a f*g.

Funny story on the word f*g:

In Canada that word is never used for cigarettes, and only means homosexual.  When I was in university, my father didn't know I smoked.  He was a prof at the university I attended, and the main building was shaped like a massive 'U', with a courtyard for smokers on the inside of one side of the 'U'.  Classroom windows all faced towards the inner courtyards.  So there I am in the smoking section, puffing away with a few friends and little to my knowledge he was teaching a class at the other side of the 'U'.  He spotted me from his lecture podium, stopped his class and said he'd be right back.  He walked all the way around the 'U', by which time I had finished my smoke but was still standing out there gabbing with friends.  Suddenly the door swings open, he sticks his head out and hollers in front of 50-60 people:  "Andy, I saw you sucking on that f*g!"  The whole smoking section erupted in laughter and he had this little satisfied grin on his face.  Well played, sir.

Luckily I only ever tried one f*g (the cigarette kind).  Somebody brought a packet into school, we all gathered eagerly behind the bike shed to sample this forbidden treat.  What a letdown!  I had a couple of puffs (the smoke kind), thought it tasted like shyte and have never been tempted to try another one.  Unfortunately drink was a different matter - even though the initial taste wasn't too pleasant to a 16 year old palate the 'happy' feeling that followed was too good to resist, and I've been a regular drinker ever since.

I was 56 years old before I had my first cig....a Pall mall, after I ran out of vaping juice here in Mexico.....I honestly thought it was the most vile experience ever, I nearly puked and it took me hours to get the smell off my hands, hair and clothes!!

I went straight from being a non-smoker at school to smoking a pipe at 24......an ex-wife suggested I might "look cool" smoking one!!.......30 years later, I had bought enough aromatic pipe tobacco to fund a NHS hospital

There are definitely cheaper models than that. You can order them on the t'internet and get them delivered to your door. I'm sure there's a number that would deliver from the USA to Canada. I also suspect there will be a fair few Canadian websites aswell.

I also smoke e-cigs/vape. I started off with a CE4. For the first few days I smoked less real fags alongside the vaping. After about a week, I ran out of fags and because I'm so lazy, I couldn't be bothered to go to the shop. So since then I've smoked e-cigs only.

I've tried the e-cigs and they did nothing for me - I felt I had to draw so hard on it and it still didn't have that 'throat feel' to it.  But I'm willing to give vaping another go.  I've only tried one puff on a vaporizer and it reminded me of the first time I tried a cigarette - made my lungs feel on fire and I coughed like mad.

Here's a tangent:  Ordering stuff from the U.S. to Canada can be extremely frustrating.  Not only is the CDN dollar very low right now (wiping out any gains we would have made in price difference), but the taxation at the border issue is randomly disastrous.  According to UPS (one of the postal services), whenever anything crosses they have an assessor go to the border, examine the package, and tax it according to its normal retail value (so if you bought something at a discount then you are taxed at the higher value).  Quite often, this means that you might pay 80% of what you initially paid for the product in taxes and fees to UPS.  And it seems to happen randomly - 2/3rds of the time the packages come through untaxed.  When an item does get flagged, you pay through the nose.  So much for 'free trade'.

You can get in Canada.

I would recommend starting on something like this: https://www.canvape.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VVBEGINER
