New Hartlepool United manager Craig Hignett could name an unchanged starting line-up for the visit of Notts County in his second game in charge.

The North East side, who parted company with Ronnie Moore last week by mutual consent, made a winning start under their new boss in Saturday's 2-1 home win against Yeovil Town and have no new injury or suspension concerns.

Right-back Michael Duckworth remains sidelined with a stomach muscle injury and fellow defender Harry Worley is working his way back to full fitness following ankle surgery.

Midfielder Michael Woods, meanwhile is expected to resume after returning to the starting XI at the weekend after a back strain.

Mawouna Amevor is a doubt for Notts after sitting out Saturday's 2-1 defeat at York City with a shoulder injury, while Scot Bennett also missed the game following a knock he suffered against Luton Town.

Midfielder Rob Milsom remains doubtful with a knee injury and faces a fight to be fit for Jamie Fullarton's side, but former Wycombe Wanderers winger Jason Banton is likely to continue in the side after his debut at the weekend.

Hartlepool are 21st in the table and have only won five out of 15 home games, although Notts have only won three times on their travels in League Two and lost to York, who had previously won just three games on their own patch all season.

Sorry @Dripsey3 if I stole your thunder!

I'm hoping for a win again, though I can't say I'm looking forward to the game, we have a terrible record at Victoria Park. Even an improved (more creative) performance would be progress.

Head says we'll get beat, but hoping for a 2-1 Notts win. YP

I'm not confident, Hartlepool are a decent side - who are just struggling.

My concerns are if they score first. I hope those who attend are treated to proper football, which entertains and delivers a decent performance. I'm not sure this will be the case, JF is still experiencing a transition.

Between what? Are you implying he played attractive football before?

@Super_Danny_Allsopp transition of him taking over.

Previous manager played attacking minded football, which was largely better than it wasn't - new guy is defensive but it will take someone without experience to get things working as he wants. It may be a case of seeing more of 'his players' also but that will be more next season. So, no - I'm not suggesting he's got his side playing attractive football but it's been vastly better than York City (Which we did start off quite brightly).

The thing about Hartlepool is they are no push overs and of course they do know how to win.

In my opinion they are far more dangerous than York, so if confidence is low and we don't come out 'prepared' we may be stung again on the road.

Considering Hartlepool away is a bogey match for Notts recently, I hope the team put in 100% and aren't lacking in confidence after Saturday's match.

Ah right.

Someone at work today asked me what the new managers style of play was, we often talk about football related stuff and obviously Notts naturally comes up being the worlds greatest club. The conversation went something like this:

Me: 'well so far, defensive and dull by the look of things'
Colleague: 'weren't you playing full out attacking under your previous manager?'
Me: 'yep'
Colleague: 'so you have a squad full of attacking players who are now being told to play very defensive'
Me: 'Well, we signed 2 squads, previous manager signed one and this new transfer board of whatever signed the rest, but yeah, they aren't great defensively'
Colleague: 'Weren't you saying you played defensive football when you got relegated?'
Me: 'Yep'
Colleague: 'Somethings not right with your club. You're changing styles every time you change a manager, no wonder you're on a downhill spiral'

Can't really argue with that. That's why I think this transfer panel is doomed to failure. It would maybe work if we had a common style of play, regardless of manager, but that's not the case. Each manager will want different types of players to fit their tactics, and seeing as our tactics/philosophy changes every-time we sack a manager (frequently), we will continue to have this massive transition period between managers. This is what the transfer panel is supposed to avoid but it's a complete failure due to no top-down direction/philosophy/style of play. This is why we see players such as Aborah who were the first name on the team list now not even in the squad. It's costing the club money, but mostly it's costing us success.

We haven't beaten Hartlepool at their ground since 1959.

I had a dream ( No....not Martin Luther)......that we were beaten 3-1 at Hartlepool.........2-0 down at half-time, a few changes by JF,...... 1-1 2nd half.......JF did an interview with Uncle Colin, stating how impressed he was with our 2nd half performance and how he was really looking forward to next season.....yawn!

Just call me Mystic Tarkers!

After witnessing how poor we were at York, only a miracle will see us win this game!!

Hartlepool 3 Notts 0

0creativity noble on the wing Curtis all running smith no legs mcleod will not give a crap back four will just hoof it 90 mins.

We will sit back and defend try Nick it like I said no Stan 0 creativity they will show how crap Fullarton and his style of play really is

in fact in my honest opinion I don't think Fullarton ever has seen us play like he stated becuase if he had he'd realize that stan is a creative passer of a ball and Burke can have the odd flash.

he has took all the creative spark out of this side and removed it noble can't do much from the wing Curtis is good but not a creative player smith is past it.

there really is no creativity when you read the team sheet even Campbell has a good assist record on the wing I can't see nothing but a another 2-0 or 3-0 to Hartlepool plus history speaks

Piethagoram's angle on the team that should play today:

Loach

Atkinson Hewitt Hollis Adams

Campbell Aborah Thompson Noble Valencic

Stead

Probable Jamie's team:

Carroll

Hewitt MacKenzie Hollis Adams

Campbell Thompson Noble Banton

Izzy Stead

Doubt it, the weather in Hartlepool is forecast to be no lower than +4 degrees tonight.

I spoke to a group of Pool fans earlier, they said it should be fine.

Supposedly there's been little attention to suggest anything differently and that the pitch should be perfectly fine. For some reason, they seem more concerned that we will go up there and spank them after losing to York. If I was them, I'd take strength from knowing if they hold the midfield - they will the game. Hartlepool have a good midfield which is hard working, decent wingers who can be lively. Defence could be better, yet upfront they could change each game and still score (unlike ourselves).

I'm still very nervous that they could do what Carlisle Untied did to us at Deepdale.

Not another footballer in court I hope!
