For anyone of my age, a favorite viewing was watching the weekly antics of potential escapees from Stalag Colditz.....and the ingenious methods used.

Picture, in your mind, Meadow Lane as Colditz......the music plays, the cameras zoom in......all is quiet as the German Camp Commander sounds the klaxon for morning roll-call.

Nothing....silence.

Slightly concerned, the commander and his guards start opening doors....nothing, nobody.

Finally they find one person, huddled beneath an army-issue blanket.....sat alone in the corner of a room.

"Ver is everyone?" (spoken in my best German accent)

"Ver is Rodders and Winters, ......ver is the new Media guy?, ..........ver is Hughsey and Spencer, Schmeichel and Bart, Judge and Davis, Bajner and Showunmi"

His voice starts to get louder, concerned that the whole camp has escaped

"Ver is Cotterill, Allen, Short, Kiwomya, Curle....Derry and Abbott?".......panic starts to set in.......

"Goddamn it man, ver is the Dutch prisoner Herr Moniz?...or the Camp Jester, Fullarton....we cannot even find the new guy Coops?"

The face beneath the blanket turns slowly towards the camera

"They have all escaped...........there is just me left" uttered the lonely figure

The Camp Commander looks closer into the drawn features of a troubled man......"Who are you?"

"My name is The Phoenix.....I am the escape co-ordinator!!"

"Why are you still here....all alone?" asks the Commander.

"Don't you start" .........said The Phoenix as he turns back to stare at the wall.

For the fans, Meadow Lane is very much like Colditz at the moment, we just can't wait to get out!!! Every January we hear the same thing, "For you, the season is over!".

 

This needs sharing later, I'd love to see how long people can refrain from laughing.

PON is a bit quiet as well........has everyone disappeared?

Seems to me that this season has knocked the stuffing out of a lot of posters (or maybe my insane ramblings and home movies have bored everyone to death?).......what we need is a good argument to get this place buzzing.......I'll start.

What are the chances of Trump becoming US President?.......50/50, 40/60?

The guy is wackier than me.......sounds interesting?

 

He has his supporters , don't think I would like him in charge of a powerhouse like the USA like you say @tarquinbeech he is wacky ,     and it is so so quiet on here at the moment .

If the Republican Party were serious about upsetting his Presidential campaign, why have they not found a powerful, credible alternative?

Surely with the vast funding that could be mustered, they could out-spend Trump who is using mostly his own cash....I am starting to wonder if they actually want Trump to win after all.

My main concern, being just south of the border, is his verbal attacks on Mexico.

Building a new wall, sending back illegals, stopping US investment down here.......it's almost like talk of war, albeit an Economic War.

When people talk about "illegals" they don't understand that vast areas of the South-West USA, were actually Mexican up until the US-Mexican war and are still Spanish-speaking.

When Mexicans cannot get visas to visit friends and family there, or go looking for work picking Californian fruit, they cross illegally because they have always historically done it.

I'm not saying it's right....but has anyone checked to see what the US farmers think about a ban on Mexican labour

Noble escaped from Colditz in plain sight of the commandant and thousands of witnesses!

Trump is exactly the kind of man who needs to be kept as far away from power as possible. I think if he gets elected and is surrounded by advisors he'd tone down his positions a lot, but I'd rather not take that chance. The Russians seem keen on the prospect, but only because they'd run rings around him.

Going back to the original post, I can't help thinking of the scene where Indiana Jones encounters the ancient knight who guards the Holy Grail. Except in the future it'll be Mike Edwards in the ruins of Meadow Lane, many, many years from now ...

I think people are fed up of this season and have switched off for the time being. Bring on summer!
