Posted July 18, 20168 yr #1 how do you feel things are coming along at notts now? i just wondered how the general opinion here is of the club at the moment. i think sheridan is doing well, we seem to have some good experienced players and i think a few more additions we would be set for the season ahead. what signings do you feel if any are needed? have you been impressed during pre season? any newcomers caught your eye?
July 18, 20168 yr #2 I've not watched the friendlies but the signings make me optimistic for the new season.
July 18, 20168 yr #3 I would sign a DM, ST and CB if I had preference. I've heard a lot of good things, however I haven't yet attended a pre-season friendly - my daughter became ill last Friday and obviously this ruled me out of attending the Long Eaton game and the Ilkeston friendly. Forte for me, with his pace and energy should be a key signing for us. I think pre-season has gone about as can be expected, I am hoping we start to see a starting 11 form from here on. I'm also in @Riverleeno camp, optimistic is a good word.
July 18, 20168 yr #4 Im very optimistic, i think things are coming along smoothly and the signings we have made all seem to be better than what we had last year!
July 18, 20168 yr #5 I'm now on the verge of my 47th season supporting Notts, and I honestly don't have a clue! There is never, ever, a pre-season where the majority of supporters aren't optimistic. June and July seem the have the weird effect of making the horrors of the likes of 0-5 v Carlisle a distant memory. We appear to have made some decent signings, but nearly everyone was saying exactly the same 12 months ago. My logical head says we'll finish 14th, but I've never been good at predicting our fortunes before a ball has been kicked. Can't wait for it all to start though, the beauty of football is that you never know what will happen next. Let's hope it's one of our rare good seasons, we certainly deserve one!
July 19, 20168 yr #6 Wycombe away on 25 March 2017, will complete my 50 years to the day of supporting/ suffering Notts. The one thing that does give me some optimism this season are that the signings by JS come with some track record. It's good that we have some "leaders" in there. Agree with @Elite_pie we are deserving of a good season
July 19, 20168 yr #7 Quite well I reckon. I'm not "feeling" it yet I must admit but that is just me. I'm quietly confident that Notts will be promoted this season. I'm not broadcasting it though. Not after what happened last season!
July 19, 20168 yr Author #8 promotion this season would go a long way, we are bound to have a good one sooner or later.
July 20, 20168 yr #9 I'm not sure this season is it. Last year's midfield was awful as shown second half last night at Alfreton. I'd be happy if O'Connor and Milsom had had some game time already but they've had zero so far this preseason and I just worry next year we won't start with a better midfield which will hurt us

We cannot go into the season with last season's midfield, last night the three on show managed to be none existent against a non league team.
July 20, 20168 yr #12 There seems a minority of fans on Facebook who don't understand fans having their own opinion, likewise there are some who have gone into doomsday mode just because Izale missed a penalty and we drawn to Alfreton Town. Pre-Season is important, its where coaching staff and John Sheridan will access things. However nobody really should be worried, as the results have been decent so far and the performances from what I have seen (highlights) show Notts are making progress. I do think Sheridan should settle the squad down, so that he can establish his starting 11 - then he can make changes to that to see how things are mixed up but I am optimistic. I think some Notts fans are just disappointed by our inability to strike a ball on target.
July 27, 20168 yr #13 ..doomsday because Idle missed a penalty... What do you expect when you pay 100k + for a striker However what I would like to say that it is good to have a manager that looks at the players he has available and designs a system around them. Countless managers before have preconceived notions to play 4 4 2 or 4 5 1 and then shoe horns players into the system. Hoping Stanley will lead the assists this season.
