Does Notts market their history and heritage well?

Featured Replies

Being a young supporter, I have only seen a few good seasons and the best time was during the 2009/2010 campaign when Munto lead us on the amazing but disappointing dream of making it to the Premier League.

In college today, I have been assigned to write about the "history and heritage" of Nottingham.

It got me wondering about Notts, a part from the 2009/2010 season and the 150th year, Notts hardly market anything to do with our history or heritage. I mean we are the oldest professional football league club, yet there's very little highlighted about this. Does anyone else feel the club should do more about this?

"Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value."

i dont think the club does a lot about the history, i mean the trophies are not accessible to be seen by regular fans.

the walls in the cup could be filled with fan and player pictures, it could show our history and really give us that feeling of wanting to achieve better. the club shop only sells lame tshirts with 1862, the ground has signs about us being the oldest professional football league club but its never used in marketing. i think its something to be proud about, something that can win over potential casual fans or those looking to support a team.

There is only so much that can be done before it seems all rather too cheesy.

I do think that there is things which can be done around this area, at opening days you usually can do tours and things like that. It might be worth Notts starting to do stadium tours during the week via bookings like many other clubs do.

Also when the players or club go out into the community, perhaps they could give out a fun activity pack and have this as something which shows young fans who we are.

Well there is something being done about this.

I think it's something which needs to be balanced, you can't go all OTT as it wouldn't be effective. The club does well with the opening days and, I think stadium tours would be interesting but I can't see how the club could charge for it. There's just not enough interest IMO! There had been talks of using the 'Broken Wheelbarrow' as a temporary museum on week days (certain ones) but I think this got scraped due to costs of staffing it.

There's things which can be done to showcase the history and heritage of Notts County, it just takes some ironing out.

A field where dreams become reality.

It is what it is I am afraid.

I can't see Notts doing stadium tours unless its part of the season ticket offer, school are a lost ground unless the child has family who support Notts. The club just needs to market itself as a trendier club on the up, this would draw fans especially students.

The club could do with keeping hold of memorabilia better, along with the items found in the trophy cabinet.

I'm not sure at this level there is much else they can do with the fact Notts are the oldest professional league football club.

County don’t showcase history the way they should ..! They are the oldest league team 1862 most of the big teams show case theirs I think County should as well we have more to be proud of.

I have to agree.

There are things that can be done, just look at what Alan Hardy's done in terms of events. Why not take the 2009/2010 League Two trophy into the market squad with the players and let the people of Nottingham know we are taking the league seriously?

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!
