Notts County v Leicester

Featured Replies

I thought we played quite well in the first half and were unlucky to go in a goal behind. We created at least as much as they did in the way of chances. Their first goal was a deflection in the box after a corner that fell perfectly for Wes Morgan, the second was as a result of us farting around near our penalty area and gifting them possession. The noticeable thing after the break was how quickly they broke when we lost the ball, one minute we were around their box, a few seconds later they were having a shot on our goal. Good experience for the younger members of the squad, but no indication as to how it will go when the real thing starts.

What right do you have to tell me I'm wrong?  You're not my Granddaughter.

I felt proud of Notts today, the Derby game had me feeling depressed and somewhat annoyed but this wasn't the case against Leicester.

The opening football was entertaining, Notts got stuck in and worked the ball well. Leicester looked good going forward, yet slow at the back despite Wes Morgan being a powerful figure. Defensively, Notts mopped up the play quite well and took the sting out the attacks we faced. I have to give Richard Duffy praise, he played very well and for me it's his best performance (although I didn't like some of his moaning or constant know it all attitude towards Pindroch about what he should do).

I will however give him credit for his play and ability to organise the defence - he really stood out.

Having scored, Notts just seemed to feel like they didn't have to push for the second despite having chances. The equaliser is a mix of things, yet if you watch Pindroch's positioning is very inexperienced and outright naive for me. The fact Morgan placed the ball exactly where he stood moments before, well it just highlights how Pindroch is a potential hazard in goal. Literally he never caught anything, he punched thin hair and times it was borderline dangerous.

The squad seemed to dismantle after Leicester scored, you could tell they would get a second and again I felt it should have been handled better. Notts still played well, just the fact they seemed drained and unmotivated towards pulling things back.

Second half was good, Dongda He looks a class prospect. The way he torn Leicester to pieces and just ran at them, he's someone who should be allocated game time this upcoming season because he's special - yet I feel we shouldn't give him too much expectations and just remember he does need to develop.

Credit to Leicester and their fans, I felt they played well and entertained the fact it was a friendly. The banter was enjoyable, there was nothing untoward like how Derby fans sang about Kevin Nolan being a w****r. It was just a very promising football match and, at times Notts more than matched them. 4-1 was very flattering, yet it does show that we have some things which required time to resolve.

Also, I forgot to praise Kane Hemmings. He was marked by some very tall lads but won the majority of balls - he looked a useful threat.

A field where dreams become reality.

Sadly I couldn’t make the game but managed to watch the second half live on Leicester City’s Facebook page, the commentary was very pro Leicester obviously but they had some nice things to say about the Notts performance which was pleasing to hear. I agree with @Chris from the little I’ve seen so far Hemmings looks a quality signing.

Far better performance, I would say it was all round in comparison to Derby. Who has the more expensive players?

Good game, class opposition and Notts trouble them at times.

I watched the live stream on my tablet and I felt impressed by Notts, the quality in the passing seemed brilliant at times.

David Vaughan looks a robust player for his age, his distribution and calm down the midfield. I think he will be a key player in any promotion push this season. The young Chinese lad did well, also I would agree with Kane Hemmings being a handful.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

Great game, both sides taking it semi seriously, you could see the development from the Derby game in terms of passing and more importantly out of possession work, Duffy was class again today, having him & Vaughan in the team will be our secret to success next year, both Brisley & Hall looked good, to save me from typing loads I'm glad that we have genuine class in every position, we also seem to have it in reserve also which is the biggest plus point going into the season.

Exciting times ahead me thinks

Much better performance today but our defence needs sorting fast. I know one needs patience with new players blending into the team but I cannot accept the lapse marking that our established "defence" showed today.

The Morgan goal was shocking!

Generally I think we did well. Poor defending for the Morgan goal in my opinion but at least we tried to move the ball well.

I tried to count the balls launched from the back ( without pressure, from both teams). In the first 26 minutes there were 6 launched balls and every one went to the opposition. Why do teams do it !
