I'm not sure I understand all this Schofield stuff, he's a good keeper.

I didn't see Lewis Ward so I can't really comment, however we should be keeping an eye out on keepers like this. The way the club sourced the signing of Bartosz Bialkowski is exactly the model the club should be using to find suitable first team goalkeepers. Prior to this season I felt the finding of Ross Fitzsimons was on par but I am afraid I no longer think this, I do feel he could become what is needed but I worry about his mentality to conceding goals.

To be honest, I think if Ward is head and shoulders above Schofield - I dread to think what those who don't rate Fitzsimons would say.

People really don't know though, sometimes true potentials can be masked and you really need to factor in many different things.

not a fan of schofield then? would you rather fitzsimons play???

Our new goalkeeper is much better than fitzsimons. He focuses more on whats going on so makes him much better at getting to the ball in time.

Where do you misread "not a fan of Schofield then"?????

I was only pointing out that this Reading keeper is far superior, what is wrong in that?

Just think to the time when every shot Ross Fitzsimons fluffed and he was described as 'good enough'. He'd fail with the newly signed players and once one or two goals are conceded, the teams morale would fall and the pressure would be straight back.

Keepers get no credit unless they're show stoppers.

I think the fact he's been capped at under 21, under 20 etc and is only 19 speaks volumes. Lewis Ward is two years older, and has much more experience with being shipped out on loan. Over 60 appearances, he should be more polished. I don't understand the heat either, I think it's coming from the Ross Fitzsimons fan club TBH.

No way, how many times do I have to say , I am only pointing out that this Reading keeper, oozes class. Schofield's performance on Saturday cannot be deemed as "rock solid"

Everyone has their opinion. In comparison to the other keepers we've had this season, Schofield is much better. Keepers also need the defence to play their part.

I think in order to evaluate a performance of a keeper, we need to drop this ridiculous 'do you want Fitzsimmons back' line.  It's been pulled out every time someone remotely criticizes Schofield or an aspect of his performance.

It seems Schofield has become a cult hero for some, I'm not entirely sure where it comes from, maybe intense dislike of Fitzsimmons, because it hasn't been Schofield's performances.

Agree with @Piethagoram, their keeper had a great game on Saturday, I thought it was going to be another case where everything went against us, but thankfully we did enough in the end to get the win. Not even Schmeichel was saving the winner from Enzo.

Both keepers played well. Theres always going to be critism but the game went well for us.

Both keepers played well last Saturday.

I would also rather have Ryan Schofield in goal, not because I dislike Ross Fitzsimons but because he's been piss poor all season.

I would rather have Schofield than Fitzsimons, too. However, it was Schofield's mistake that led to their goal. As it goes, it doesn't matter, but it could have been 2 points dropped.

Virgil Gomis should have scored an hat-trick  but let's not split hairs shall we?

If we held everyone accountable over the odd mistake none of the players would have any confidence, I am sure he's beating himself up but more than ever determined to keep a clean sheet. That's the difference for me between Ross Fitzsimons and Ryan Schofield, one wants to improve and the other just bottles it up.

All keepers at this level make mistakes, it's the rare ones that don't. Darren Ward used to make mishaps and Roy Carroll was prone to them but it's how they react. Ryan Schofield played well, I do not understand this critical view on him by some people.
