Cal Roberts extends his stay until 2022/23

Featured Replies

He’ll be around for the season now, I thought this would be the case anyway but it makes me even more hopeful he could be with us long-term. Even if he has another particularly outstanding spell and clubs come in for him now, we’ll get a nice chunk of money. Good business all-round.

As for players re-signing, you only have to look at the summer with the likes of Lacey and Brindley and Wootton in Jan was great. I’m trying to think further back but all our good players seemed to leave us!  Bishop must have signed an extension with us at some point, I’d have been pleased with that.

The real elephant in the room is likely to be a "buy out" clause within the contract. I would hope it would be for a million plus 25% of next future transfer fee too. So if he was onward sold for £20m, Notts would get £5m

@Piethagoram: I suspect you're right regarding a buyout clause being added.

I also personally feel his future depends on who's in charge of the club, as I think if Ardley goes, I can see some of his singings wanting out. I know the players are very happy with him, so when I read that Roberts extended his stay and, a friend mentioned that he thought he would be leaving at the end of this season if Notts doesn't get promoted - which is all speculation. I do feel that a player like him would prefer to be settled with a manager.

No doubt, he could be playing at a much higher level but right now he's gaining vital experience.

As a player he'll only develop further by shinning in a team like Notts.

A field where dreams become reality.

It shows a level of forward thinking by Notts, especially Neal Ardley who will no doubt see Cal Roberts as a key member of the squad.

I forget the last time Notts managed to extend a player I felt would likely move on.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

the club have done the right thing, if there is interest it can unsettle players and lead to them refusing to sign a new deal. im not suggesting cal roberts thinks like this but we missed out with alan judge by putting off negations and then leaving it late.

i am so pleased that roberts has extended his stay because it shows ambition from the club to move forward with the quality that we have.
