  1. So many managers try to please everyone, but he’s up front about the fact his job isn’t to keep players happy. It’s about picking the best team for each game and getting results. I like that he’s prepared to change things based on the opposition as well. It shows he’s not afraid to adapt. Salford will definitely be a challenge, but you can tell from his comments that he’s done the analysis and is focused on what Notts need to do to win. Hall’s arrival is another positive, as competition in the squad is always healthy. Really looking forward to seeing how we perform at Meadow Lane today.
  2. I don’t watch much traditional TV, mostly quizzes and game shows. I do keep an eye out for the occasional drama, so I’ll try to remember this one and see where it ends up being shown here. Stephen King is a brilliant writer, and it’s good to see his work finally getting the proper treatment in TV and film.
  3. I’m really looking forward to seeing Will Jarvis back. Hopefully he can settle into the starting eleven, and if Martin Paterson can get him firing, it’ll make watching Notts exciting. Jarvis probably has the most potential of anyone at the club.
  4. If you look at Sunday league teams, there’s Celtic everywhere in the names. At least West Allotment Celtic reflects its local area.
  5. It’s worrying to think he nearly owned Notts, even with the fake name and all the noise he made about having the money. That radio interview where he talked about being part of a group that saw the club as a Championship side, there’s just that sense he would’ve stripped the assets and moved money out. I suppose he might’ve put some of the dodgy cash into Notts to make it look legitimate.
  6. A draw wouldn’t surprise me, but Martin Paterson needs to go for the win. I think we look strong in every area, but missing Alassana Jatta is a big blow. I just hope Matthew Dennis can step in and offer a threat up front. We do have midfielders who can score. A good start now could make a big difference by the time we reach 15 games. Seeing Notts start well would also give fans more belief in Paterson and the squad.
  7. Rest in Peace, Connie Francis. 💮
  8. Hello, @Andy81. Welcome to the community here and PON.
  9. You’ll probably notice your neighbours starting to fill up paddling pools, spray down their cars, and give their gardens a good soaking with the hose. It’s typical really – people don’t stop to think about what it means when water levels start to drop. I’d felt things had been quite pleasant lately, especially after the last spell of intense heat. But if people carry on wasting water without a second thought, things could quickly become much harder to cope with. It’s not about pointing fingers, but there’s a real need to be considerate. When water’s scarce, using it carelessly makes life tougher for everyone.
  10. Notts County did ask if they could provide accommodation for some of Ricardo’s players when they joined the club. It was meant to help them settle in during the early stages of their time here. Partick Thistle might struggle financially to offer the same kind of support. Signing players and housing them, even for a short while, can be expensive. Offering temporary accommodation might be a way to make the club more appealing to players. If they feel supported from the start, they may be more willing to join.
  11. Such awful news. My thoughts are with those who have passed. May they both rest in peace.
  12. Transfermarkt lists him mainly as a left winger, but he can also play attacking midfield and on the right. Sounds like the sort of player Notts might take a chance on. Not sure if the limit is two or three overseas players. If it’s three, there’s a bit of wiggle room, and that could open the door for him. A signing like that might even hint at a change in formation, or maybe it’s about having players who can switch roles mid-game to keep things fresh.
  13. Make it a three-year stint then, Ricardo. Best of luck to him out at AS Trenčín, hope it works out for the him.
  14. The Lower TiersEXCLUSIVE: Notts County Exploring Move For Sylvester Jasp...Notts County pursue Śląsk Wrocław winger Sylvester Jasper, facing European competition to sign the 23-year-old London-born left-wing talentI only put faith in official sources and PON, but I’m still curious what others make of it all. Could there actually be something in it, or is it just another name thrown into the mix for the sake of it? The rumour mill reckons he’s signing in the next few days, so it’ll be interesting to see if it gathers any proper traction.
  15. Glad to see Sam Slocombe is staying with the club. I do wonder if the club realises just how critical some fans have been of him as a player. It’s always puzzled me how quickly supporters can turn on someone like him. I wish him all the best in his new role, and I hope those same fans don’t start having a go at him now he’s a coach.
  16. Pleased with the fixture list overall. There are a few clashes with Forest, but these could be avoided if we’re marked as unavailable on those dates before the schedule is finalised. The opening part of the season looks promising and should give us a decent start.
  17. As mentioned, I haven't been to a cinema for years. It's been a long time, that's for sure. I never really liked the one in the city centre. Losing the old Odeon and cinemas on the outskirts left me feeling uninterested. People are much rowdier these days. While it can be fun to watch a film in a room full of strangers, it can also ruin the experience. Good luck finding suggestions.
  18. Signing Ollie Norburn presents a mixed bag of prospects for Notts. On one hand, his track record speaks volumes about his ability to influence play positively from the midfield. On the other, with so many options already available, it’s unclear how he will be integrated into the team structure. The injury concerns are real, but with proper management, they shouldn’t pose too much of a hurdle. It's exciting to think of the defensive robustness and the strategic depth he adds to the squad. Competition within the team, while healthy, must be managed astutely by the coaching staff to harness maximum efficiency.
  19. Last time I was in Germany, the food and beer were affordable, and the football was entertaining, even in the lower leagues. I need to check my dates, but one of the two friendlies might be possible.
  20. Thank you for getting in touch by email. I am really pleased with how the Pride of Nottingham is improving, and the revamp looks excellent. I am very impressed by the effort from everyone involved. It’s great to see features returning, and the news ticker is a helpful way to highlight important updates.
  21. Rest in Peace, Brian Wilson. The Beach Boys music will be quite a legacy to leave behind.
  22. Dan Crowley to become the club's saviour by being a player-manager? It guarantees his name on the team sheet, and he can't do much worse.
  23. Maynard's openness about the team's challenges is appreciated. Colchester is in great form and their defence will be tough, but we can find gaps. It's good to have Platt and Abbott back, as depth is crucial. Crowley's return will boost our creativity. Fans' support at Meadow Lane can lift the team. With unity and focus, we can get a result against Colchester
  24. Enjoy your birthday, Neil! Thanks for giving Notts fans so much to cheer about!
  25. I’m optimistic about our chances against Peterborough, but we’ll need to be much better defensively than we were last time out. They’ve got players who can punish any lapses, so staying switched on for the full 90 minutes is a must. Offensively, I’d like to see us use the flanks more effectively, crosses into the box could be our best bet. It’s also a great opportunity for our squad to show they can compete with teams from a higher division. I’m hoping Dan Crowley is fit because his energy and creativity could be a game-changer. Regardless of the outcome, this is a match to look forward to!
