  1. Only 2 - 0 is a decent return considering recent form and heir first one was a fluke so all in all better than I would have expected. Happy to be out of the cups anyway , it’s all about survival now and we can concentrate 100% on that.
  2. For me, this could be the appointment that gets us on the right road. Alan thought he had cracked it with Nolan and to be fair he had until recruitment was needed. He then put his faith in his judgment of Kewell which again looked like it was going to pay off after 5 games unbeaten; sadly that also turned sour very quickly. Now, he has realised that an experienced head is the way forward and I totally get what he was and is trying to achieve. I’ve said many times that we all have perfect 20/20 hindsight and with this appointment I feel he has got it spot on. good luck to Neal and let’s all be positive and give the boy our full support, even if he can’t revive this old creaking shambles of a club, I am sure it won’t be for the want of doing his absolute best.
  3. I sincerely hope I’m wrong but I Can’t see us getting anything tomorrow other than Adam Collin shoving it down our throats. I just hope its not another humiliation.
  4. It would have been more convincing if Bamby (Duffy) hadn’t been playing. Loved how he let one in then started pointing the finger & bollocking someone else, classic Duffy.
  5. The difference ? 442 no hoof up the middle.
  6. It’s amazing play to a 20 goal a season striker’s strengths and you get your reward. Would like folks to get carried away though Doncaster still managed to get 2 and should have had more ( as should Notts in fairness). now wait for the “give Chettle the job” brigade the same ones who were saying we need a proven manager !! Well done though boys, a win is a win.
  7. I would have gone tonight but can’t make it.
  8. Of course all the odds are against us and to be honest I am not fussed about cup competitions at our level. Yes, if we progress a bit we gain some much needed cash but along the way we also gain injuries, player fatigue and in the end probably a sound thrashing that helps no one. I’ll be happy if we come out of it having played well with a respectable score line.
  9. I can’t see me being confident in us winning a game again as long as we have Fitz in goal. He can’t command the area in any way. Can’t come/won’t come for a cross. Can’t take any ball above shoulder height. Only a matter of time before someone robs him whilst trying to dribble out of the 6 yard box. A total liability.
  10. Kevin Nolan said on many occasions that “he wouldn’t accept interference from a Chairman on recruitment or team selection”. The Chairman doesn’t select the players to be signed. He puts his faith in the manager he appoints and backs his decisions by funding the transactions. There are people still saying Nolan shouldn’t have been sacked and yet (other than 3 defenders who have performed really well in a short space of time) this is still the majority of Nolan’s team, which is mostly underperforming. Harry Kewell wouldn’t have been my choice to replace Kevin but again, the Chairman pays the bills so calls the shots on who he appoints. I didn’t hear many complaints from fans about the signings made over the summer and other than the obvious moans that Forte should have been retained, all seemed rosy in the garden. Yes, now we have a bloated squad because a revitalised defence was required (again, the majority of fans would have agreed that recruitment was needed) and again, the Chairman backed the manager! Of course as fans we are all hurting but we don’t have the fan base that affords us the luxury of buying and paying wages that will give us an easy pathway out of this league. It’s a long hard struggle and yes, recruitment of the right players is vital but there have been many clubs much higher up the pyramid than Notts who have come unstuck in that department and finished up with a bloated squad and not much improvement to show for it. We need to be patient, get behind the club, Chairman and manager. Try to stay positive, this team has the potential to do well in this division and if Harry is the coach everyone says he is (and the first half performance against Swindon shows he might be) then we will be in a decent position to make a challenge for promotion next season.
  11. Depends how you view the season going. If we still have any aspirations of it being a successful season the next six games are all winnable and are indeed must wins for us to make any progress towards the playoffs. If we are in a mind set of just staying in the league, or making mid table, settling for a draw and scraping the odd win might be acceptable. For me, we need to go for it. Give the fans something to cheer about. We need to get the strikers scoring regularly but I worry (although no one can question his heart & passion) Stead’s goal return is not good enough & Hemmings ain’t breaking any pots either.
  12. If there is any morals in the game, the bloody idiot ref should admit he ballsed up and get it rescinded.
  13. I don’t think we are bad enough to go down but we certainly ain good enough to get to the playoffs, or anywhere near. We might beat teams in the bottom third but unless something drastic happens in the January window this season is a write off and we’ll be lucky to make mid table. Another 4 - 0 pasting tonight I’m afraid.
  14. Towards the end of last season we were in free fall and people’s predictions kept saying we would win the next game, then the next until we eventually fell off the edge. People are still full of this blind faith that we will all of a sudden turn into a league 1 challenging outfit....... it ain’t gonna happen fellas. Mr Hardy has got to dig deep to get us anywhere near successful. Its another arseholing tomorrow I’m afraid.
  15. Getting rid of under performers is easier said than done if they have a contract and no one want’s them...... !
  16. I hope those picked to play the game are as embarrassed as I am !!
  17. We’ve got to give the squad players a full game. Yes, we have some promising youngsters coming through but the squad needs to be kept ready for first team action. An injury or injuries could happen any time and to maintain our recent progress we need to keep players chomping at the bit to win a regular first team place. Giving the Youngsters a chance is all well & good if you’re flying high but we aren’t and we need players ready to step in and maintain our push up the table.
  18. I dared to dream we could win again and the dream come true .... just hope we don’t lose momentum now. Fantastic 9 points!
  19. Sad to say I know, but I can’t get excited about women’s football. There’s no justification in it; just doesn’t do it for me.
  20. Wow, what a game this is ! Not in terms of quality necessarily but in terms of what a win could mean; of course it isn’t make or break but as a springboard to a decent run. as for the Rob Milsom situation; one man doesn’t make a team, but continuity is important when momentum is required and that’s the worry for me. Husin will probably be Harry’s choice, the other alternative is Vaughan of course but somehow I don’t fancy him, he’s not a ball winner any more than Husin is, so where do we go ? Alesandra dropping into midfield and Thomas on the wing ? Or, he change tack and simply bring in Kellett. it will be interesting but we really need to win this game, I think we are at a crucial point which could be the catalyst for how well we continue to improve. my predictions are very rarely accurate, my heart says we’ll win my head say something else. Fingers crossed for the former
  21. i enjoy these interviews and for a 19 year old to be able to put together an articulate balanced opinion without stooping to abuse and partisan comments is really refreshing.
  22. I really don’t want to be negative but I can’t see us getting anything from Crawley. The display on Saturday was an improvement but some way off a dominant display. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think the come back is on yet.
  23. Relief all round I think ! However, let’s not get carried away. There were elements of Saturday that left much to be desired. Although everyone is willing Fitz to regain the form of last season he is still way off the mark... a save that was going yards wide, giving Crew a corner and that ridiculous attempt at a punched clearance was frightening. The defence looked much more assured but we still look like we could concede at any moment. By stating the above I am not feeling too negative, I hope & pray that we have turned the corner and we can now look forward to some decent results and a rapid climb to safety.
  24. This is a heart V head call for me I’m afraid. Of course we are all desperate for that first win and improvements have definitely been made but I just can’t see us being blessed with another clean sheet. I am hoping upon hope that we can pull it off otherwise things begin to look very worrying.
