  1. It’s disappointing that they didn’t honour your win, even with your parents’ permission. I don’t see why your age should have been an issue, especially with your dad’s support. It’s simply wrong that they let you enter, announced you as a winner, and then let it amount to nothing.
  2. Hello, @Mark Holland. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. Would you tell us a little something about yourself, such as how long you have supported Notts?
  3. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @jake008. Not only a fan of Notts but James Bond also? Tell us something about yourself, if you would.
  4. I believe we likely signed Jatta with the anticipation of receiving offers for Macaulay Langstaff at the end of the season or during the pre-season. He had once again scored a significant number of goals, demonstrating his adaptation to life in League Two. I doubt that everything would have been finalised back then, and I’m sure the media would have speculated if they had any leads. I do think Notts retained Macca to boost season ticket sales, all the while knowing that appointing him as captain might give us fans false hope of him staying. At this point, I just hope the deal was ultimately worthwhile. He was bound to leave at some point, and I understand why some fans might feel disappointed. Personally, I’m looking forward to the new season and wish Macca all the best at Millwall.
  5. I watched the linked vlog. Notts seemed to ease off, possibly due to the weather, but it’s just a friendly at the end of the day. The penalty awarded for a foul by Adam Chicksen seemed harsh. Their player appeared to be all over him, and it looked more like he was pulling himself down by holding onto Chicksen. I won’t complain, but it felt soft. The referee’s decision seemed to boost MSV’s morale. @Robbie, the old Notts site did feature a live update ticker. @DangerousSausage, are there any fans of our very own Manuel Neuer, also known as Sam Slocombe?
  6. Ryley Reynolds is a promising player. From previous season friendlies and glimpses I’ve seen, he seems like a capable young player who would improve significantly with more game time, much like James Sanderson. I hope we don’t just loan them out but find a way to give them first-team experience. Reynolds appears to be a promising future player.
  7. It's always difficult for a team like Crawley to keep their players. Being promoted is a great achievement, but we benefit from it too. Two of their better players have come our way, and both are very good. Kellan Gordon is a great signing for us, adding much-needed depth. Fans saying we don't need many players should remember that our form suffered last season from tiredness and a lack of reasonable options. It's a good thing!
  8. You wouldn't have guessed this, but if it happens, it's a good move for him. The French league isn't as great as people say, but it's a good opportunity.
  9. How about a former player? Your old choice, DeadlyDennis, still works. He was a good striker for us. He just needed more time on the field, as his finishing ability was never in doubt.
  10. I haven’t visited, but many of these types of islands seem to offer a more relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, which is very appealing for escaping the hustle and bustle of modern life. How many times have you visited, @Piethagoram?
  11. I don’t believe he should have stayed, but I concur with others that it would have been nice to see him compete for his spot. I get the impression that Kyle Cameron might sense his days are numbered and wanted to move before he became redundant. We have been somewhat more ruthless in phasing out players from the team and listing them for transfer, which is the preferred way for the club to manage player transitions.
  12. The move didn’t pan out solely due to Will Randall’s approach. He didn’t seize the early opportunities he had and seemed detached. I understand that it can take time, but he never appeared to be catching up with the team’s style of play. He did alright at times, with very limited involvement, but considering the anticipation surrounding his arrival, it ended up being a letdown. I wish him well, but I’d prefer someone with less skill but more passion to play than Randall.
  13. I need to update my display picture! I’m really upset, but I have the memories and all the matches from last season to remember his skill. It’s been a remarkable period, but I think the club is much better at discovering players now. We may not find another player quite like Macaulay Langstaff, but there’s no reason why we can’t find another player who can score 20+ goals a season or give Cedwyn Scott more opportunities to display his talent.
  14. I believe we missed an opportunity to give him some playing time last season before we signed Lewis Macari. Notts could have let him play a game or two. However, I can’t envision any young player getting much of a chance when the stakes are high or if the club is under pressure to perform well. We’re not one of those teams that gives a young player a fair shot. It’s easy to say they’re not up to the mark, but how do we, as fans, really know? No one would have anticipated this move.
  15. Macaulay Langstaff’s time with us has indeed been a bustling period. His knack for scoring goals became a familiar sight, and every time he had an opportunity, we felt certain he would seize it. We consider ourselves fortunate to have witnessed his tenure at Notts, as players of his calibre don’t come around every season. He leaves as a hero, and while his move may have been a surprise, we need not dwell on the decision. Instead, we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
  16. Don't get me wrong, I anticipated this would occur eventually and I believe it’s a positive step for Macaulay Langstaff. Although it’s unfortunate that he’s moving to a club like Millwall, I’m confident he will excel there. That being said, I don’t think Notts should have hurried to make him the captain. In retrospect, they should have been patient. This has resulted in a wave of negativity, which is a clear sign of poor management.
  17. This transfer was unexpected. It appears that Notts County is planning to invest more in the first team with the transfers of Lucien Mahovo and Tiernan Brooks. This is a great opportunity for the young player, one that neither he nor the club could turn down. I wish him all the best.
  18. There are specific areas in Australia where I wouldn’t fancy being stranded in a car, particularly some of the more secluded and dark locations. I’m aware that Highway 66 in America is well-known and has a reputation for being unsafe for solo or duo travellers due to the horror stories associated with it. However, in terms of places you might regret visiting, Australia just about takes the lead.
  19. The images of the football ground, The Nest, have an eerie quality and seem like they’re straight out of a nightmare. However, I appreciate Notts’ decision to name their fan zone after it. It’s a clever move and provides the hub with a social function, encouraging fans to interact and bond.
  20. At first, I made the same mistake, interpreting “their” as referring to Notts. I was puzzled as to why Crystal Palace, known as the Eagles, might have had a ground called The Nest. I had the impression that they resided in a nest known as an Eyrie.
  21. Regardless of what others may say about Gareth Southgate, I believe he’s performed admirably in his role. It’s true that the team hasn’t lived up to expectations in this tournament, but a competent manager knows how to steer the ship in rough waters. I’m aware that some outspoken supporters attribute the changes to fan pressure. However, even Ivan Toney has expressed regret to Southgate for his late entry into the game. Initially, I might have agreed with the fans, but it’s clear that Toney understood the reasons behind the decision afterwards. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and this is mine.
  22. Notts had a ground known as The Nest? If that’s the case, I must admit, I wasn’t aware of this either. I thought I was familiar with all the grounds where Notts has played. Could it be possible that he's referring to Park Hollow?
  23. I recall hearing that he had been substituted, but I didn’t realise the severity of the situation. A broken skull is enough to cause nightmares, and it’s incredibly brave to return to a sport that requires good heading skills, especially as a defender. I hope all his worries are now in the past.
  24. He appeared to be a robust player with considerable strength, from what I’ve seen, and he had an amazing knack for scoring goals. I’ve read about Tony Hateley here and at Liverpool. I know he’s greatly admired by the Scousers, perhaps not as much as us, but he had a remarkable stint with Notts. His return worked out well, which is rare for good players. Even Ronaldo wasn’t as impressive during his second spell at Manchester United, but Hateley played for Notts as if he owed them something.
  25. It’s easier to say yes when you’re in the semi-finals compared to the group stages, but I genuinely believe that England are starting to believe in themselves as a squad. They seem to be improving with every game. I don’t see it happening, but I would bench Harry Kane and give someone else a chance. Then, knowing this won’t happen, he will score one or two goals, but he’s been underperforming. Cole Palmer is such a talent. In my opinion, he’s more gifted and confident beyond his years than Jude Bellingham. I think England will reach the final, but winning is a different matter.
