Prediction league 24/25 round 3 - Saturday 24 August
????♂️I can’t believe I forgot again. I’m really disappointed to have missed another round, but I’m pleased to see my mates @liampie and @Joshua doing well. Also, what has gotten into @super_ram? He’s been flying so far this season!

Notts Alumni: Tom Keetley
Seeing Macaulay Langstaff reach the record was something I might only witness once in a lifetime for Notts. It truly adds to the appreciation and respect that Tom Keetley’s name deserves. He must have been a brilliant player in his time, and his achievements at Doncaster are nothing to overlook either. I hope Doncaster fans get a chance to read this article because players, even after they retire, can bring fans together, and the memory of that player continues to shine brightly.

Faces of PON 24-25: Grimsby Town (H)
The Faces of PON is back! So pleased, as always, to see the pictures you take at games, @Chris. Everyone seems very much up for it, as you would expect. It’s good to see The Navi and The Nest being locations you visited. I bet the faces grew bigger as the game progressed. It’s good to have such a convincing performance. Well done, mate.

The Pride of Nottingham Launches Monthly Fan Appreciation Initiative
This is a very good idea. It might not be for everyone, but no one needs to change their habits just for a print. It’s not for that reason; it’s to give back. I know this is something @Chris feels strongly about. It’s clear he cares about Notts and us fans, so I think it’s super cool that he’s gifting some of his work to fans. I hope those who end up winning appreciate it.

Stuart Maynard Calls for Better Officiating to Protect Jodi Jones and Other Players
It’s going well, despite the draws. Tonight, Notts could really do with a win just to ignite the season and make things easier. The confidence of winning does tend to build, and I think the squad is more than capable of being up there, but Notts needs to be more ruthless. There’s quality throughout the squad. Stuart Maynard seems to know his best 11 now. With strength on the bench, we need to kick on now.

Fake Football Merchandise.
I don't think it should come at the expense of a fan enjoying their team. Removing people based on what they are wearing, even if it's a fake shirt, seems wrong. I am talking about fans who are sensibly clothed. The issue shouldn't be with those who wear them, but clubs could discourage the purchase of fake shirts. It's a double-edged sword. You can limit those who own or would wear them, while promoting it to people who didn't know.

Wangiri Phone scam
I have a lot of time and respect for scam baiters and people on YouTube who try to take down or cause trouble for scammers. I think phone operating systems should consider an alert feature that informs the caller that the number is a premium phone line before it allows any ring out, with a popup displaying more information to search the number for known scam calls.

Match Discussion: Game 3 - The Mariners (H)
I have a strong dislike for Grimsby Town. I don’t like their fans or their club. They have this unbelievable self-worth, thinking the club is much bigger in their heads than it ever has been. Though this is mostly the loud ones you see, not like the two who featured in the recent opposition view. Still, I would love it if we could comfortably hammer them and keep a clean sheet. A positive win like this could give Notts a lot of encouragement and create that buzz to start a run.

Jodi Jones: Players Player Of The Year.
Yes, Jodi Jones and Dan Crowley! I’m so pleased for them, representing Notts despite last season’s outcome. The fact that these two, along with Macaulay Langstaff, got named shows it wasn’t all that bad of a return to the English Football League.

Match Preview: Notts County Seek First Win Against Grimsby Town
I remember when Craig Mackail-Smith and Jon Stead gave us hope when we played them. But the last time with Jim O’Brien in charge was unpredictable and all over the place. It wasn’t his fault; I thought he did well to take temporary charge after Luke Williams left. I wouldn’t mind a boring draw, provided we played well and caused them headaches. There’s no reason why Notts couldn’t get the first win of the season, but I am mindful that if we try to throw everything at Grimsby, with it being one of those games where we want to win as friendlies due to our rivalry, it might not work out like that.

David McGoldrick: Ready and Waiting to Shine at Notts County
I have been impressed with how sharp he looks. Like others, I thought he had a poor time in the back half of last season, but I always felt it was due to how many minutes he was picking up. His role is to use his experience and start when given a chance. I’m sure he will get goals, but I see most of them coming from off the bench. He will probably start more games in the cup, at first.

Opposition View: Grimsby Town Fans Share Early Season Insights - Standout Players and Team Morale
This is great, gaffer! I am pleased to see the effort you have put into this. Asking two fans gives a more in-depth look into what fans are thinking. I am looking forward to the game. On paper, I think Notts should expect to win, but with local derbies, you never know. With it being on a Thursday, it’s going to be a bit unusual. I hope Notts are fully focused and defensively strong against Grimsby.

Match Preview: Magpies Target Early Season Win Against Fleetwood Town
It would be good if the crowd, new pitch, and players all clicked and made it easier for the game. I am sure the squad is confident and focused. Fleetwood most likely won’t be worried based on our start, but tomorrow it’s two teams who haven’t met this season working each other out and trying to test each other. I think we stand a good chance of making the most of the occasion.
-
Dan Crowley to MK Dons?
Losing two players to MK Dons, who are tipped to win the league, would be frustrating. We shouldn’t be strengthening opposition teams in the same league as us, especially with losing talented players who could be difficult to replace. Dan Crowley is a workhorse and unlocks moments in games. Losing him would be a major loss to our creativity because last season he was part of what made us do well in the beginning and maintained that when others struggled.
-
Conor Grant. Who is he?
The indication of the signings suggests Stuart Maynard sees him having an important role at the club. After his move from MK Dons, he really could do with a run in a team where he can settle and just get back to playing. I think this is another good read, so thanks again for sharing and writing it, @Robbie.

Match Discussion: Game 2 - The Fishermen (H)
I am hoping Notts can start similarly to how they did against Shrewsbury. Taking an early lead would be nice, and seeing the defence able to maintain and protect it would be even better. If Fleetwood commit players to defending, they might prove to be a headache like Tranmere, but I am sure it will be entertaining.
-
Jacob Bedeau. Who is He?
I am enjoying reading your “Who is He?” series, @Robbie. Jacob Bedeau looks like a quality player at this level. Very calm and collected. I hope to see his performance continue to flourish as we have needed solid centre-backs for a while. I think he and Matty Platt give us a great foundation.

Conor Grant Excited for Meadow Lane Debut: 'The Pitch Looks Beautiful'
It’s good to see a new player coming in and working hard. It’s still very early, but the signs are positive. Conor Grant will hopefully thrive playing for us. If he continues to put the effort in, I see no reason why he wouldn’t make our selection and impact the club further than he has already. Attacking midfielders that suit your system and can instantly settle usually show further quality. I hope this is the case with Grant.

6000 Season Tickets Sold
Rebuilding a fan base that has been declining over the years isn’t easy, but it’s great to see the numbers increasing. Even the match attendance is impressive. If we want to compete at higher levels, this trend must continue and be repeated. Notts is lucky to have a close-knit group of fans. Also, well said, gaffer! You posted a great comment, mate.

Mark Stallard: Notts County Fans the Backbone of a Promising League Campaign
I think Stallard is spot on. We’re all disappointed, some more than others, but we need to focus on what really matters now, and that’s the league. I’m over the defeat, and I reckon most people are too. Our focus should be on promotion, just as Mark Stallard said. I’m glad we have a BBC correspondent who talks sense.

Notts County Head Coach Stuart Maynard Reflects on Heartbreaking League Cup Defeat
Stuart Maynard needs to stop this 3 subs on, 3 players off. Bring players on with gaps, give them a chance to get up to speed. I am not that disappointed; penalties are a horrible way to lose a game. I think Notts should have made the second round, but unfortunately, a good second-half performance from Shrewsbury and some defensive wobbles caused it to go to penalties. I don’t think Alex Bass would let two in, let alone three.

Match Report: Notts County Fall in Dramatic Penalty Shootout After Six-Goal Thriller Against Shrewsbury Town
Tuesday night, away from home. It was great to see Notts take the lead by two goals. I think we should have maintained that, but we had the chance to win on penalties. I don’t agree with any criticism towards David McGoldrick or Curtis Edwards for missing. It’s difficult, and while we should have done better in the actual game, I am still proud of the showing. I just wish we had weathered the storm Shrewsbury threw at us as they grew into the second half.

New Signing Jacob Bedeau Thrilled to Be Part of Notts County's Journey
From what I have read and seen, he had a great debut. Looking at pictures of him and the highlights, he seems very solid and comfortable on the ball. It would have been good to see him, as well as the game against Tranmere. I like that he praises his teammates and respects us fans. We need to handle the ball the way he has talked about. It makes little sense to play ourselves into trouble by insisting it stays on the ground or must be passed.

American Pie
I’m saddened to read this. Please let @AmericanPie know that we are thinking of him and hope he is as okay as he can be. Many of us will miss his contributions, but also his personality.
