  1. The Nest probably made a good profit during the Euros. It was always full, with demand exceeding its capacity of 1,000. The club would have understood the importance of the competition for success. So, it seems unlikely that we sold Macaulay Langstaff at a low price just to recover some money. Regarding the pitch, it wouldn’t be the first time Notts might have sold a player to fund or pay for changes to the ground. But surely, Notts would have wanted more for a player who had two successful seasons. I don’t think it’s worth worrying about now. What’s done is done and we can’t change it. The total fee might be more than what has been reported.
  2. I propose that the rules for guessing should allow for three guesses per day. However, after making the first guess, you should wait for three other members to make their guesses before you can proceed with your second and third guesses.
  3. It does annoy me when we see heritage and things you can be proud of about Great Britain stop in favour of cheaper options overseas. Certain things should be made with pride and under our own mint. I don’t like the news of this because it’s taken 1,000 years to stop something which we have always done to a high standard. Every day, I see a new novelty coin for sale in an advert encouraging people to get one for keepsake, proudly saying it’s made in Britain and by our royal mint. Now, our coins are likely not to be.
  4. Martin Allen, a manager known for his humour and charm, was someone I greatly admired. Yes, he used his charisma to distract from the results, but that only made us focus on more important aspects. Luke Williams is an excellent communicator. I enjoyed his press interviews and listening to his insights. He has a genuine, friendly approach that seems to bring out the best in players. These two are the only ones who have stood out as particularly good managers during my time so far. Please don’t bring up Kevin Nolan. He treated players poorly and had one good season thanks to two promising Forest youngsters. His loyalty to his drinking buddies caused us a lot of trouble. Also, listening to Ricardo Moniz was enjoyable - he spoke about football properly and came across well. However, our defence wasn’t great under him. I don’t care about seeing attacking football when the games are very tight, even when you score 3 goals! He’s a good coach, but not the best.
  5. As a club, I believe we’ve built him up a bit, but I have faith in our recruitment process. He’s had a few games in the Championship, a history of injuries, and spent a lot of time below the Football League. This is the kind of signing that you’re pleased to see become a valuable asset, that’s all I’m saying. I’m not particularly concerned about a player’s past, even though our club tends to hype up the fact that they’ve had a stint with bigger teams, as if the Championship label is supposed to signify something.
  6. Over-mining, or the overuse of any natural resource, is a problem. Sooner or later, these resources will deplete, and we’ll have to depend on something else. If the money earned from these resources is spent wisely, things can remain as they were. However, many places don’t manage their funds well. When crime escalates and the authorities become corrupt, it can ruin what is still a beautiful place.
  7. Whether it’s a pre-season friendly or not, @super_ram, your team has disappointed us. Could you help us make sense of this result? Did you field all young players? We need some explanation for this outcome. ????
  8. I’m considering reviving this, assuming there’s still interest and members are up for challenging the likes of Tone and Fozzy. I plan to conduct one round per week, unless no one can guess the answer, in which case it might extend beyond that. If that happens, I’ll quickly move on and post a new ‘guess who’. Here’s the updated table following Piethagoram’s round. Points Table: @Fan of Big Tone - 9 @Fozzy - 5 @Piethagoram - 2 @super_ram - 2 @KB1862 - 1 @liampie - 1 For those who are new, you’re welcome to join in when new rounds are posted. Existing members, please do participate. In each round, I’ll provide a description of someone previously associated with Notts. The clues will be vague, but you can ask questions for more information.
  9. If they had managed to retain more of their top players from the team that won the promotion, it might have been beneficial when bringing in new players. Nothing is impossible, and while it’s unlikely, they might have been able to compete at the higher end of League One. It would have been a challenge, but with the unity their squad developed in League Two, it could have been achievable. In our first match against them, they seemed average, but they improved significantly in our subsequent encounter. Adam Campbell was particularly challenging.
  10. Swindon Town could be a suitable team for John Bostock. He deserves the opportunity to play for another reasonably large League Two team. It’s hard to imagine him playing regularly in League One, but in football, you never know. It would be unfortunate to see him move down to the National League, but the right project could greatly benefit the later stages of his career.
  11. This could potentially be a beneficial move for both footballers. However, there are some concerns regarding Will Randall’s motivation to excel in a team like Swindon. Swindon has a reputation for cycling through players at a faster rate than we were accustomed to in the past. It’s something to consider.
  12. Honestly, offering cheaper soft drinks could potentially increase revenue, assuming Notts can partner with a suitable company. It could be a win-win situation for both parties. Given the high cost of soft drinks at the club, a more affordable option that meets the club’s demand could be worth exploring. The challenge lies in finding a supplier, placing a substantial order, and ensuring the taste is appealing. Just because something is cheaper doesn’t necessarily mean people will buy it. However, if it’s tasty and offers good value, it could be a hit. @Piethagoram https://www.refresco.com/en/stories/refresco-completes-acquisition-cotts-bottling-activities/
  13. Volunteering at Nottingham Hospital is commendable, and something that Notts fans who are patients there will surely appreciate. It’s lovely that Ian has fond memories of his trips to cover the games, even if his time at Wembley for Notts was in an empty stadium. Wendy’s struggle with her brain tumour diagnosis is distressing. I empathise with the family and hope they continue to bravely confront this challenge together. It’s undoubtedly tough, but I’m certain that I’m not the only fan sending well wishes to the couple.
  14. It’s evident in your videos that you’re sometimes affected by your health issues, and I must admit, I’ve been worried since you mentioned your breathing problem. We’re all part of the Notts fan community, and you’re no different. If you ever need to talk, feel free to message me on Twitter or here. I don’t mean to intrude, but it’s clear that you’re a good person with a deep love for Notts. Your content is a joy to consume, but please don’t stress over maintaining high standards. Chasing perfection can lead to unhappiness, but if your viewers are enjoying your content, that’s a special achievement. I’ll be honest, I don’t follow many vloggers because I often find them uninteresting. But you’re different. You connect with people, sharing your insights and experiences as a fan. You have a balanced presence that never crosses the line. You may be known in the Notts community for your videos, but it’s you, the person behind the camera, that we connect with.
  15. It’s disappointing that they didn’t honour your win, even with your parents’ permission. I don’t see why your age should have been an issue, especially with your dad’s support. It’s simply wrong that they let you enter, announced you as a winner, and then let it amount to nothing.
  16. Hello, @Mark Holland. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. Would you tell us a little something about yourself, such as how long you have supported Notts?
  17. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @jake008. Not only a fan of Notts but James Bond also? Tell us something about yourself, if you would.
  18. I believe we likely signed Jatta with the anticipation of receiving offers for Macaulay Langstaff at the end of the season or during the pre-season. He had once again scored a significant number of goals, demonstrating his adaptation to life in League Two. I doubt that everything would have been finalised back then, and I’m sure the media would have speculated if they had any leads. I do think Notts retained Macca to boost season ticket sales, all the while knowing that appointing him as captain might give us fans false hope of him staying. At this point, I just hope the deal was ultimately worthwhile. He was bound to leave at some point, and I understand why some fans might feel disappointed. Personally, I’m looking forward to the new season and wish Macca all the best at Millwall.
  19. I watched the linked vlog. Notts seemed to ease off, possibly due to the weather, but it’s just a friendly at the end of the day. The penalty awarded for a foul by Adam Chicksen seemed harsh. Their player appeared to be all over him, and it looked more like he was pulling himself down by holding onto Chicksen. I won’t complain, but it felt soft. The referee’s decision seemed to boost MSV’s morale. @Robbie, the old Notts site did feature a live update ticker. @DangerousSausage, are there any fans of our very own Manuel Neuer, also known as Sam Slocombe?
  20. Ryley Reynolds is a promising player. From previous season friendlies and glimpses I’ve seen, he seems like a capable young player who would improve significantly with more game time, much like James Sanderson. I hope we don’t just loan them out but find a way to give them first-team experience. Reynolds appears to be a promising future player.
  21. It's always difficult for a team like Crawley to keep their players. Being promoted is a great achievement, but we benefit from it too. Two of their better players have come our way, and both are very good. Kellan Gordon is a great signing for us, adding much-needed depth. Fans saying we don't need many players should remember that our form suffered last season from tiredness and a lack of reasonable options. It's a good thing!
  22. You wouldn't have guessed this, but if it happens, it's a good move for him. The French league isn't as great as people say, but it's a good opportunity.
  23. How about a former player? Your old choice, DeadlyDennis, still works. He was a good striker for us. He just needed more time on the field, as his finishing ability was never in doubt.
  24. I haven’t visited, but many of these types of islands seem to offer a more relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, which is very appealing for escaping the hustle and bustle of modern life. How many times have you visited, @Piethagoram?
  25. I don’t believe he should have stayed, but I concur with others that it would have been nice to see him compete for his spot. I get the impression that Kyle Cameron might sense his days are numbered and wanted to move before he became redundant. We have been somewhat more ruthless in phasing out players from the team and listing them for transfer, which is the preferred way for the club to manage player transitions.
