  1. Points Table: @Fan of Big Tone - 5 @Fozzy - 4 @super_ram - 2 @KB1862 - 1 @liampie - 1 I am sorry! I forgot all about this. Don’t worry, I will make sure to post two timely rounds per week. The Gaffer told me that @super_ram has asked about it. I didn’t give up on it; I just became busy with work and the start of the season. As I said, I will post two rounds per week. I encourage all members to try to take part. I will post a new round tomorrow, along with the second on Thursday if the first is guessed correctly, of course. The table is updated now.
  2. The game was very entertaining. A neutral would be content with both teams’ performances, but I think Accrington Stanley fans would have hoped they could have tested Aidan Stone a lot more than they did. They are a good team and work well for each other, and Stone did make some superb saves. Yet, with two or three chances, they should have punished us. For example, when Stone kicked the ball straight to their player, who went clean through and ended up striking the ball towards Stone instead of one of the corners. I thought we were classy, dominant, and calm. The second half was a much better showing from us; we did very little wrong, and David McGoldrick worked well to bring in Macaulay Langstaff. Also, Dan Crowley placed pinpoint passes that went through Stanley’s defence with very narrow space for perfection, yet he made them look simple. Fantastic win! We are top of the league!! ????
  3. I try to balance criticism with positives. I always try to see the brighter side of situations, and although that can be hard, I feel it’s something I do well. I can perhaps be a little critical, but I would never let it cost my enjoyment. We have had our ups and downs, mostly downs, and it’s nice to have a club that is trying to move forward in the right way. I do think we have some massive idiots on social media, people who take joy in picking at the players and moaning. They’re extremely critical, but I don’t focus any energy or time on them.
  4. This is brilliant to see, @Chris. I am also glad to see you taking the pictures. I noticed you going up the top half of the Kop. Thankfully, you didn’t see where I was sitting, but I do like going through the gallery. It’s great to see the faces of PON. Keep going, mate.
  5. A very good victory and performance against a decent Accrington Stanley team, you can tell they are a good side. They played well going forward, as their statistics show, and could have easily controlled the game after equalising. The warning signs were creeping in almost as soon as we scored. We played very well in the second half, more determined and better in control. Langstaff getting yet another brace is great to see, our team pulled off a good victory today.
  6. I want Notts to go into the game and prove themselves. I don’t think Accrington Stanley should be a team we fear, especially at home. A good performance and result will be another bonus, especially after the opening game. I am hoping that Macaulay Langstaff can find the net, but as long as someone else scores for us, it will be all good.
  7. It was a moment of pure excellence when Connell Rawlinson struck the ball into the back of the net. Notts had been putting pressure on Tranmere, but the second goal seemed to be eluding us. I also felt very happy for Connell. He’s a brilliant squad player, and if you take on board everything he says, you can see more of what he brings to Notts.
  8. Whatever the team has been practising in training, it evidently paid off as the squad had the best start to a game so far this season. I concur entirely with @TheSkipper’s analysis. It was a highly entertaining match, although the referee did overlook some crucial moments. This was true for both teams, but he seemed a bit more lenient with Tranmere. I believe they should have received a yellow card for the early challenge, which was quite shocking. The player also clearly voiced his disagreement, but regardless, Notts won. Aaron Namane’s footwork is faster than most players. He is truly effective when crossing.
  9. Fantastic collection of fan photos, boss! There are so many splendid images of the supporters thoroughly enjoying their match day. Keep up the sterling work.
  10. Connell Rawlinson truly found himself in an optimal position to score, and when he did, the KOP erupted in a thunderous cheer of joy. I believe he performed quite well. Despite some people suggesting that he’s not a footballer who passes, he executed some impressive passes yesterday. The majority of his actions were indeed positive. He dons his shirt with pride, and I am thrilled to see him experience such a moment. These moments don’t come around often, so I am genuinely pleased for Connell.
  11. Luke Williams is truly exceptional. While some are criticising his decision to make five changes, it’s important to remember that it was due to an unforeseen accident. This is similar to last season when we found ourselves without a goalkeeper due to limited substitution spaces. Mark Stallard’s perspective is worth considering; he suggests a rethink rather than mere complaints. It’s a discussion worth having. However, if Williams believes that we are not at risk of games turning against us due to potential late injuries without a substitution option, then that’s his decision. The team put on an excellent display and I sincerely hope that Cedwyn Scott is alright. His effort is evident and it would be wonderful to see him rewarded on the pitch for his positive attitude.
  12. The painting is appealing, although it’s somewhat challenging to distinguish the players on the pitch, and the details within them aren’t as prominent as those of the spectators. However, I understand that this might be intentional so as not to detract from the stands or the pitch.
  13. Mike Dean has always been somewhat of a contentious figure, a grumpy, block-headed individual aspiring to look like Jasper Carrott. He’s attempting to downplay the situation, claiming his comments have been misconstrued. This is difficult to believe when you consider that he was quoted directly. No one suggested that his actions were due to a close friendship; he himself used the term ‘friend’. In this video, he seems to be trying to accept responsibility without actually admitting fault. He insists that he was penalised at the time by being made to miss games following the incident. However, he comes across as someone unwilling to fully admit his mistakes or accept that he was truly in the wrong. He points out that no one questioned his decision, leading him to believe he had made the correct call (despite admitting he knew it was wrong). He mentions that a team is in place to assist and yet none of them raised any concerns (despite him being in charge of VAR decisions). He dismisses the technology as being ‘almost Mickey Mouse back then’. Most people would have made the correct call; he simply appears to be an individual who needs to step out of the limelight. https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/12947952/mike-dean-i-tried-to-protect-referee-as-var-i-was-wrong-i-made-a-bad-mistake
  14. My prediction for today’s game is 2-0, with goals from Langstaff and Austin. I’m looking forward to the match. The weather seems uncertain at the moment; I haven’t seen any rain myself but I’m hoping for brighter conditions.
  15. I certainly believe that Tranmere Rovers have a squad capable of causing us problems, although it seems they have yet to reach their full potential. This always makes me somewhat cautious, but I feel more confident knowing we are playing at home. If we were playing away, our performance might be affected despite the incredible support from our travelling fans. However, at home, I always have the feeling that we can perform well enough to secure a victory.
  16. I agree, he excels in the centre, while his defensive skills could potentially be enhanced, his role in that position is to orchestrate the game and dismantle the opposition’s strategies. His endeavours are difficult to overlook, as he consistently performs with a sense of pride and it’s evident that he puts in a great deal of effort. Ultimately, that’s all we ask for from a player.
  17. We’re aware that Luke Williams sets a high bar in terms of performance and results. Currently, as Notts acclimatise to competing against a superior calibre of players, it appears that Luke is choosing to concentrate on the end result rather than obsessing over the performance in his interviews. He will address these points in his post-match reflections, but beforehand, it’s as if he’s attempting to alleviate any pressure on the players. The progress we’ve made in such a brief period is commendable, and we simply need to maintain this momentum.
  18. I’m eagerly anticipating our return to Meadow Lane. A sunny day like the one we experienced in Doncaster would certainly lift spirits. Apart from night games, there’s nothing quite like a dry, sunny match to foster optimism. I have high hopes for Notts; while Tranmere Rovers aren’t a weak team, they seem to have taken longer to find their footing. We definitely need to see an improvement in our defence compared to the Grimsby match. With two strong teams for our first home games, a win could provide a significant morale boost.
  19. I perceive Sean McConville’s injury as a significant setback for Accrington Stanley, given his status as a key player. Being sidelined for three months in football is quite substantial, so I sincerely hope for his swift recovery. Sam Bellis appears to be a promising acquisition for Barrow, who could benefit from a trialist in the forward position. If Graham Coughlan were to voice concerns about delays and other issues, rather than criticising high-profile managers, his complaints might carry more weight. His current approach seems more resentful than reasonable. Ben Foster’s retirement elicited laughter from me; it seems to be a hasty decision on his part and a disappointment for Wrexham. Had Wrexham been performing better, I doubt he would have chosen to retire. His claim of playing for the love of the game seems more about personal victory than team spirit. It’s intriguing to see our local rivals recruiting young talent. I hope Alfie Bradshaw thrives and avoids the fate of many academy players who are exploited and then discarded.
  20. Anticipating with hope, Macaualy Langstaff is likely to enjoy the rendition of his chant at Meadow Lane this Saturday. Undoubtedly, it will leave a strong impression. I appreciate his remarks regarding Sam Austin; it's a touch of class that he acknowledges and praises us fans for our unwavering support. This recognition is not lost on the fans; both the players and the club are actively fostering this camaraderie, and I hope we can sustain it throughout the season.
  21. Luke Williams demonstrates eloquence in the manner he conveys his thoughts. He refrains from hasty reactions and articulates his ideas thoughtfully, rather than speaking out of frustration. Despite a simple mistake from Jim O'Brien, it's evident that he didn't do so intentionally or score an own goal. From Luke Williams, nothing less than providing the deserved support for O'Brien can be expected.
  22. While I can only recall a small number of players, I still acknowledge the value of the photograph and I'm grateful for its sharing. I encourage fellow members to contribute their memories of their favourite player from that season, as it would render the experience much more relatable.
  23. I'm genuinely delighted for Macaulay Langstaff; he's truly earned this goal. His relentless work rate alone is commendable; he never seems to stop and consistently seeks opportunities to engage with the ball and take a shot. While things might not have aligned previously, I thought that this particular match marked his best performance of the season so far – and I've followed every league game. I hope this achievement bolsters his confidence and encourages him to continue scoring in the upcoming matches.
  24. The insights offered in this comprehensive article regarding the game are truly valuable. I derive great satisfaction from delving into these in-depth pieces that delve into tactics and personal viewpoints. Both @Chris and @TheSkipper present highly logical perspectives. I wish more fans would share these articles, amplifying their reach beyond a few likes. Most of PON's content deserves wider recognition, and I'm pleased that the hard work invested by the team is gaining traction on Twitter, largely thanks to the remarkable efforts of the manager.
  25. I believe Luke Williams might be slightly stringent in his reaction to conceding a single goal, even considering the way it occurred. It's evident that he holds himself to high standards, reflecting a clear perfectionist streak. While this inclination isn't inherently negative, I wonder if comments about the goal could have been omitted by a more seasoned manager, given that we did secure the win. You know, perhaps reserving such discussions for the privacy of the dressing room while maintaining an optimistic outward appearance. Then again, it's worth noting that Williams consistently upholds honesty, a quality that I deeply respect.
