  1. I believe the result was fair. There weren’t many clear-cut chances, but you can appreciate the work that has gone into the squad. Luke Williams has done well to recover from the opening defeat and lift the players. The win against Grimsby proved to be vital, and Morecambe could have been another three points, but it just wasn’t meant to be. The players will dig deeper. As long as we are safe, I am happy.
  2. I agree with Luke Williams’ thoughts on the game. We played well and had opportunities. The defence is improving, but some of the mistakes made by Aidan Baldwin and Kyle Cameron need to be reduced. They are good players, but they need to focus more and think about their actions. I hope we can involve Macaulay Langstaff more in the play. He puts in the effort and runs around, but so far, we haven’t included him in the action as much as we should have. Otherwise, it’s all quite promising.
  3. The live match discussion tonight was a real touch of class for PON; it allowed comments to be received and reviewed more conveniently, even while at the match. It's a fantastic concept and one that I'm eager to support and endorse!
  4. Ha! I don't intend for it to come across as us being resentful towards Tshimanga for joining Chesterfield, as we likely were never genuinely pursuing him despite the rumors that circulated at the time. His transfer to Peterborough should have been more successful, but I suspect it's more related to their failure to secure promotion. He's a skilled player and would certainly perform admirably in League Two. If he ends up signing with Wrexham, we wish them the best of luck, because there's no need for us to be concerned.
  5. A goalless draw isn't the worst outcome; it was a satisfactory trip and we returned with a positive result. At this juncture, considering our uncertainty about Notts and other League Two teams, achieving a clean sheet feels like a significant accomplishment, particularly after the performance against Sutton. We are making gradual progress, and I am of the opinion that we are becoming a stronger team. Just because we controlled the game doesn't necessarily guarantee that we'll find the net.
  6. Notts have struck the crossbar! A highly promising opportunity, but we must persist in our efforts. The team seems to be growing in confidence following that chance, and Jodi Jones is striving to create a breakthrough.
  7. I feel a bit nervous as we are approaching, and I am also hoping that the Grimsby win propels our team towards back-to-back victories. The first win away from home is important, but with Morecambe being a strong League Two team, they may present challenges. Every team at this stage is unfamiliar to us, but I think Luke Williams will have the right approach.
  8. I hope he manages to come back stronger. It's a setback for him, and much like Tobi the other season, Baj will miss his opportunity to establish himself in the starting lineup. I am more so disappointed for him due to this reason.
  9. I hope it's not a draw, but I must admit it has that outcome all over. I hope we can start positively because when we do, Notts often control the game and handle the opposition much better. Morecambe won't be any pushovers, but we have the quality to test them, so hopefully defensively we are robust enough to handle them.
  10. The result for me is the main thing, I wished we could be more positive in our attack in the first half. Scoring always seems to give Notts a boost and then our confidence comes from that, but whenever we attack the KOP, Notts just seem to control the game and it almost becomes routine. I really felt like we always stood a chance of winning, we just needed that quality and it's largely down to Jodi Jones that we did pick up the points. I find comments about Arron Nemane to be very misleading, he wasn't wasting time. He literally had no good options to throw the ball, Grimsby made it a point to close down any options, and our players were way too static in this department. Aidan Stone should have been warned, but I think his drink of water leading to the yellow card was just the referee being trigger-happy with his cards. Yes, the backward passing needs to be stamped out. Just hit the corners in, I don't see why we always insist on taking them short.

  12. @MagpieRoy, welcome to the Pride of Nottingham.
  13. To be fair, I didn’t hear as much nonsense after going behind or due to some of the mistakes, which was good. I think the majority of the Kop just wanted to support the lads, and the support wasn’t just when we scored or led the game; we sang throughout, despite a few quiet spells. I think that’s the encouragement the players need. It was there at Sutton, but I think nerves got the better of them. Jodi Jones showed his class as always; it was such a pleasing sight to see him take on the opposition. Hopefully, this result will be the boost we need to crack on.
  14. In the first half, I thought we looked quite decent. However, we were very indecisive when going forward and played the ball back too many times, which killed any momentum we had gained. Instead of opening up the play, it became frustrating to see us get somewhere on the pitch where it looked like we could make something happen, only to bring it all the way back to the keeper or last defender. This tendency of not making space or having players move can cause unnecessary problems. In the second half, things were very routine. I think David McGoldrick played very well in both halves. He and Jodi Jones linked up nicely, allowing others to get more involved in the game.
  15. Hull City 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday Ipswich Town 0-3 Stoke City Leyton Orient 1-2 Portsmouth Joker Peterborough United 2-2 Charlton Athletic Harrogate Town 1-0 Forest Green Rovers Swindon Town 2-0 Crewe Alexandra Dagenham & Redbridge 2-1 Southend United York City 0-0 Kidderminster Harriers
  16. It is commendable that Notts took some time off after the last season to rest and recharge before resuming their training. This demonstrates their understanding of the significance of balancing hard work with rest and recovery. Such an approach is likely to benefit them in the long run. By allowing themselves time to recuperate, the team can return to training with renewed energy and focus. This can help them to perform at their best and achieve their goals for the upcoming season.
  17. It is crucial for Notts to start the season with a positive result. Securing that first victory can provide a tremendous sense of relief, and I don’t believe we will have an easier opportunity for an opening game. This is not meant to be disrespectful towards Sutton United, but they will be fortunate to finish near mid-table. It is commendable that they have managed to retain their place in the EFL and even build upon their debut, but I suspect they may be one of five teams that might struggle as the season draws to a close. It is important not to underestimate them, as Notts did when Sutton United beat us to secure promotion, and it would be painful if history were to repeat itself. We have a strong squad that needs to fight for each other and for us, in order to secure those vital opening day points.
  18. This is an excellent and detailed preview, far superior to most that I have come across to date. I appreciate the fact that there is no apparent bias towards any particular team, and the writer appears to have a natural understanding of the league.
  19. This was a very good article, gaffer! The pre-season has been more successful than some fans might think. We lost to Stoke City and some fans lost their minds over it, but that’s just the nature of fickle fans. Every club has them. But if we go on to do better as a result of what we learned from that game, then those same fans will be the first to forget what they said. They’ve probably already forgotten or deleted their comments, just so they can say “I knew this would happen” later on. I’m thankful that Luke Williams doesn’t pay any attention to social media.
  20. I’m also happy to provide updates on my fitness activities, such as when I go for walks, runs or bike rides. The latter isn’t something I do very often, but I do enjoy keeping fit and staying active.
  21. Paul Mace comes across as a very bubbly and jolly person, with a friendly and approachable demeanour. The way he speaks to people and respects their views is commendable, and it’s always good to see someone who is able to engage with others in such a positive manner.
  22. Jayden Richardson is certainly a talented player, and I agree with your assessment of him. He received some criticism on social media for a poor decision he made, but it was just a mistake. A momentary lapse in judgement, a rush of blood to the head. I’m sure that if he had the chance to do it over again, he wouldn’t have made that challenge. He probably didn’t even realise how dangerous the situation was when he gave away the free kick.
  23. The season preview was quite brief and to the point, with a bit of talking but not much in the way of an in-depth look at the upcoming season. It was more of a catch-up with the players who were interviewed, who spoke about their thoughts and expectations for the season ahead, but not in great detail. Nevertheless, I appreciate Charlie’s effort in putting it together.
  24. Blackburn Rovers 2-1 West Bromwich Albion Plymouth Argyle 1-1 Huddersfield Town Carlisle United 0-2 Fleetwood Town Shrewsbury Town 3-1 Cheltenham Town: Morecambe 2-0 Walsall Tranmere Rovers 1-0 Barrow Aldershot 2-2 Oxford City Gateshead 1-3 Boreham Wood Joker
  25. The signings and squad look good on paper, and the whole club appears to be in a great position. If we can start the season off well, I think the momentum will grow, allowing things to build naturally. With this being our first season back, there’s no reason why we can’t do as well as Stockport County. Good teams need to play against them too. The fact that our standard has improved, as has the opposition, means I think we will rise to the challenge.
