  1. It's sad to see Charlie leave Notts County's commentary booth. His voice, full of passion and apparent love for the club, has been part of every win and loss, every joyous cheer and painful sigh. It's hard to imagine the commentary without him, it was always so apparent that he really cared about Notts. Now that he's decided to leave to pursue other opportunities, it feels like we're losing a part of the club's spirit. But, Notts County supporters understand that such a talented person like Charlie can't be confined to a single role forever. We'll miss you, Charlie, but we all know you have a bright future ahead of you, and we can't wait to see where it leads you.
  2. There’s no need to be abusive during a friendly game. I could understand if it were a difficult league game like Swindon away and the players let the fans down, but not in this situation. I think some fans can’t help themselves, and while I would understand in rare circumstances, I still personally wouldn’t be abusive. However, if fans where I am sitting decide to pipe up, I will quickly tell them to pipe down. Call it out; if you don’t feel comfortable being direct, tell a steward.
  3. It’s very positive news that there are a good number of prospects, and I wish each of them well. Like others, I have hopes for a few of the names I have seen pre-season. Hopefully, we can get them close enough to be squad members and see what happens from there.
  4. Charlie Slater grew into our fan base. I remember the complaints about him being a former Mansfield commentator, but he ended up winning fans over. I think his decision to stop covering Notts is a shame, especially with NEP letting Ollie King go and it being our first full season back in the Football League. It’s all the more of a shame. I wish him well.
  5. Hello @Bryn Roberts, welcome to PON.
  6. Hello @Kevin May, welcome to PON.
  7. I admire Williams' frankness and how he acknowledges the areas for improvement in a very constructive way. There is no cover-up, no false bravado, just straight-to-the-point realism. This is a man who understands that admitting weaknesses is the first step to addressing them. His strategic approach using the back four formation clearly shows his understanding of the game and his ability to adapt. Looking forward to more great matches under his leadership.
  8. Tobi's interview was very heart warming. It's impressive that despite everything he's been through, he's maintained his positive spirit. It's clear that he appreciates what brings joy in life, even in difficult times. Stay strong, Tobi!
  9. I can’t imagine Marc Bola playing in Turkey; the heat and dryness alone are enough to make even the fittest players think twice about running. I do hope he does well; he put every effort into his time here at Notts.
  10. It seems very suspicious. I don’t agree with point deductions, but if they are guilty of breaking rules, they do need to be punished. Restrictions on their activities and signings should suffice. If it’s to be a level playing field, points would be added.
  11. What a fantastic blog! I love the optimism and enthusiasm that comes through. Notts County's preseason preparations sound impressive and it's good to see how well the new faces have integrated with the team. The diversity of skills and previous league experience brought in by players like Jones and McGoldrick can only boost the squad's performance. A seven-way tilt at the title isn't just possible, it seems plausible. Let's get ready for a thrilling season and hopefully, back-to-back promotions.
  12. Friday is the only day I can make it, and it leaves me rushing to get to Meadow Lane, which will take 20 minutes after work, provided I finish on time. I’m not too bothered, but the club may want to keep this in mind for other fans who work throughout the week. Ideally, there would be a time slot where you could book for it to happen on the same day as the Forest friendly. I understand that this would be difficult to do otherwise.
  13. I am pleased that Archie Mair has found a good club to sign for. He should do well for them. They can bring out the best in youngsters, and at his age, he needs to be playing week in and week out to improve further.
  14. Williams' confidence, despite the pre-season injuries, gives me a lot of hope for the upcoming season. Can't wait to see the boys back in action, showing the same energy and passion that they exhibited last season.
  15. Doyle's experience is incredibly valuable. Given his stalwart abilities and leadership, his new role in mentoring young burgeoning talents at Portsmouth is fitting. Under Doyle's guidance, these young players will have a unique opportunity to learn from one of the best. Not to mention, Doyle himself gets the chance to further his career past being a player, embarking onto a potential coaching role, which is exciting in its own right.
  16. Hello, welcome to PON @Michael D P. Do join in when you have chance.
  17. Hello, @rohan. Welcome to PON. Do join in and share some interests.
  18. Notts' opening against Sutton United does present the perfect opportunity to establish some early momentum. Given Sutton's form in the tail end of last season, I'd expect Notts to capitalise and set a positive tone for their campaign. Winning the initial games always helps with the morale of the team.
  19. This was a fantastic start to the pre-season for Notts County. Three goals, none conceded, and a striker in Langstaff already in scoring form. It's games like this that breed confidence within teams, and this should serve as a morale boost as they continue prepping for the new season. Stoke and Forest will be interesting games to see how the players cope and handle a real challenge.
  20. I believe that until the season is underway, no one knows what will happen. We had a good squad on paper when we were relegated, perhaps lacking in pace and defensive minds, but if it weren’t for AH, Notts might have stayed afloat. This could happen to Gillingham if they spend beyond their means or to any number of teams.
  21. Well done, Stoke City! This makes us feel proud to be a part of the Football community.
  22. Russell Hoult is the only other player that I can think of, that hasn't been mentioned already.
  23. What stands out to me is Luke Williams' focus on individual performances. It's great that he recognises the capabilities of each player on the team like, Dan Crowley’s ability with the ball and the confidence of Macaulay Langstaff and Cedwyn Scott. This level of understanding builds a strong foundation for a successful season.
  24. Thinking about the wider competition, Boreham stands out as another strong contender in this title race. Whilst Oldham and Chesterfield hog the limelight, they've quietly been carving out some impressive results. If they keep their composure and deliver consistent performances, they will be a force to contend with and could give the main contenders a run for their money.
  25. The match should be a good kick-around for both clubs. I won’t be going, but I’ll be keeping an eye on what those who do say about the squad. I’m more interested in the home friendlies, but I’ll be making the others. I just can’t commit to this one, despite my interest in seeing the new players in action.
