  1. Palmer’s comments about the changes in the squad hit the nail on the head. It’s never easy to integrate new players, and it does take time for everyone to get on the same page. But having someone like Matt, who’s been through it all and remains such a steady presence, is massive for the club. His leadership style, leading by example, works well, especially when there are so many new faces in the dressing room. We’ve started the season well, but as Matt says, there’s still a lot of room for improvement, which is exciting because we know the squad has even more to offer. I’m really optimistic about where we’re heading this season.
  2. It’s interesting to see how Maynard has evolved as a manager. He seems to have a clear vision for how he wants the team to play. His emphasis on working together and communicating on the pitch is essential. Players like Jatta thriving under his guidance shows how well the squad is responding to his tactics. I hope we can keep the winning momentum going, especially against tough opponents like Port Vale. It’s crucial for building confidence in the team.
  3. I’m really looking forward to seeing how Alassana Jatta performs in this one. Since returning from injury, he’s been superb, and his goal against Carlisle showed he’s got that natural scoring instinct. With Crowley behind him, I think we’ve got the creativity to break down Port Vale’s defence. Their unbeaten run is impressive, but I don’t see them as unbeatable, especially not at Meadow Lane. We just need to make sure we’re solid defensively because Stockley is a handful. If we keep him quiet and take our chances, this could be a great win to keep us pushing at the top.
  4. Port Vale will be a tough nut to crack, no doubt about that. They’ve got quality in their side, especially in midfield and their attack. I’m curious to see who starts for them, their starting 11 could be quite strong if the players are fit. The midfield battle will be key, and with Ben Garrity in their ranks, we’ll need to stay sharp. But I trust our lads. Crowley’s been fantastic for us, and if he gets the ball in the right areas, we should be able to create chances.
  5. It's intriguing to hear Steven's views on Port Vale's style. Our squad has been focusing on enhancing creativity and pace lately. I'm eager to see if these elements result in a proving victory.
  6. Looking at their line-up, I do feel we have an edge in certain areas. Our attacking intent needs continuation from previous matches. Tsaroulla's abilities on the flank, when on form, can create pressing issues for Vale's full-backs. Likewise, Gordon has looked good in recent games. The home crowd’s energy should feed into players’ performance, as they thrive on support. It's about playing smart and being clinical with opportunities.
  7. He’s got the experience gained from his time at Crawley but pairs it with a grounded perspective on life thanks to his return to Nottingham. Family matters, and having his loved ones nearby can certainly be a game-changer. His positivity regarding the team’s capabilities is refreshing, and it comes across as sincere. It’s as though the stars have aligned for him, family, football, and aspirations all converging at once. There’s something poetic about that. It’s not just Kellan Gordon who stands to gain from this setup; the fans and the squad are just as likely to benefit from his thriving presence.
  8. I would have said Jatta if he had managed to stay on, but since he went off to a standing ovation with his name being chanted, it was great to see. However, Alex Bass deserves it.
  9. Thank you for recognising this. It was a pleasant surprise. I just post and share my thoughts when I feel I have something to say, but it's nice to see they do matter.
  10. What an assist from Alex Bass, his long balls really impressed me, and it’s something we should encourage from time to time. I thought Notts worked very well in the first half to secure the 2-0 lead, with solid build-up play for the second goal. Kellen Gordon did well in my eyes; yes, he played it back at times, but he always looked for the right decision. It was great to see Jatta back in the team, his goal was route one football at its best. Our second goal showed a different style of attacking threat, but the second half was definitely nerve-wracking. I’m pleased for the players to get a good win, especially at such a tough ground.
  11. Another away game presents a formidable challenge. Stuart Maynard’s selection will be pivotal; we have to strike the right balance between defence and attack. Ensure the backline is resilient while allowing our midfield the freedom to support forwards on the break. Highlighting Didzy’s knack for clutch moments, his presence might just be the spark we need in a close contest. Given our recent results, coming away with a point would be a positive step. Football is unpredictable, so we always have a chance. Let’s hope for an uplifting performance from the lads!
  12. It’s always tough to see a game slip away, especially when Nick had such a golden opportunity. We dominated the match and created plenty of chances, but Nick’s miss was particularly unfortunate. Stallard is right about Tsaroulla and Abbott needing to take their chances, but Nick’s miss stands out. Gillingham made it difficult for us, and once they scored, they shut down any openings. We have the quality to break teams down, but today just wasn’t our day. The most frustrating part is knowing that Nick’s chance could have been the difference. These games are crucial in a promotion race. Still, it’s a learning experience, and hopefully, we can take those lessons into the next match.
  13. It’s an interesting question, one I am unsure about what could be the cause. I do think training has become more demanding, that is a fair point, but at the same time, looking after players has improved. Pitches are much better these days, no longer resembling mud pools, but we still have awful ones like Bradford’s sandy pitch. It does make you wonder.
  14. Dan Crowley has made some good comments in his recent presser. I think a lot of professionals try to make sure they are focused on their performances ahead of transfer talks. Extending a contract might not mean he will see that length out, but not having him under contract means we risk further competition from teams looking for a bargain. The thing is, he’s here now and he’s doing well. Nothing in his performances suggests he will be leaving any time soon.
  15. It does look good for Morecambe, but it should pick up. Not that they won’t be dragged into a relegation battle if they don’t improve beyond just getting results here or there.
  16. I think clubs just have to focus, but with talks at times about creating a super league and people hell-bent on ruining football, there’s no doubt going to be complaints of fixture congestion. I think teams need to balance their squads, but it is mostly just an excuse.
  17. It really is a must-win game. Meadow Lane will be packed with fans, and it is important that we continue to win games on our own soil. I would take a point, but a win would be far more important to keep morale as high as possible. We have the likes of Jones, Crowley, Jatta, and McGoldrick, who, if on their day, are very difficult to play against. Gillingham might have injuries within their squad, but so do we. I think it’s important that Notts tries to maintain a winning record, at least at home. At the same time, I respect how we are unbeaten so far. I hope the players can avoid that come kick off.
  18. At least we are aware of what the injury is and roughly how long it should take to recover. I hope Curtis Edwards heals well and comes back stronger. Best wishes to him during the recovery period. I hope it’s treatable without much hassle.
  19. It’s heartening to see Notts perform like this. Maynard's approach to each game has been refreshing. The team’s diversity in attacking options keeps opponents guessing. The resilience they've shown, especially when coming from behind, is admirable. It’s clear they have a winning mentality instilled in them. The improvements in defence have been crucial as well. With a solid backline, we can take more risks going forward. The upcoming game against Gillingham will be a real test, but with the confidence the team is showing, I believe we can come out on top.
  20. Brilliant interviews with the Gillingham fans, excellent questions too. They seem to share similar thoughts, perhaps because they are mature fans who have been around the club for many years. It provides good insight into what they feel about their team and the upcoming game against them.
  21. Marathon bars, which became Snickers, don’t seem the same now. Zoom ice lollies, Banjo bars with peanuts, Caramac bars, a more recently discontinued snack, and fruit-flavoured Polos, which were a nice alternative to the mint ones. Does anyone remember Pacers?
  22. I don’t think we can ignore the importance of the cup, but we should be careful about fixture congestion and the risk of injuries. It could also affect our form in the league. If Notts can focus properly, it would be brilliant to see us doing well in the FA Cup. Some teams thrive on winning and that can boost their confidence in the league. So, yes, but we need to be mindful of what could happen and make sure it doesn’t overshadow our progress in the league.
  23. It’s been a squad game for years, but Notts have put more focus on having a competitive squad. The players can come in and out, catering for better tactics. There are key players, but at the same time, there are people who can be replaced and rotated. It’s good for Stuart Maynard to have these options.
  24. One of the best. I enjoy Moonraker, but I do like my sci-fi. Roger Moore was also a very good James Bond. I also liked Sean Connery, but I couldn’t choose between them.
  25. Happy Birthday to you, @CliftonMagpie. I hope you had a wonderful day.
