  1. W Wasn't the offside rule different with a blue line midway between the halfway line and penalty box? I seem to remember Roy of the Rovers being caught out by that in his brief sojourn stateside!!
  2. Where is that? If you want good coffee - Lankmark blend from Heartland Roasters is very good, and their Monsson Malabar is fab. I have just started using Bird and Wild Espresso Blend which is nice too. They use shade grown coffee which is grown under the rainforest canopy and is more environmentally friendly as it encourages wildlife and birdlife to live alongside the coffee plantations. You can buy all of those online. I love my coffee!!
  3. Thanks, I'm using Edge, but there must be a similar way.
  4. I should have been clearer... I was thinking of the original US league with Pele etc involved. This version seems much more organic and sustainable.
  5. Costa would be our go to if we don't know an area, but in Canterbury 'Ginge and Fringe' and 'Wildings' are both excellent, so we go there most weekends, Some tips for Nottingham would be handy though!
  6. Aging players looking for a last pay out hasn't worked before in the US or China, and I can't see it this time. It may be different if players in their prime start getting lured over - a Haarland or a Mbape, but why would they go to a mickey mouse league? The Saudis have enough money to buy golf, I'm sure they have enough money to collect players at their prime if they chose to. I suspect they will continue to financially dope clubs in other leagues for now though.
  7. I managed it in 4 goes..but I'm still not sure how to post the pictures.
  8. It's sports washing pure and simple. It's no different to the financial doping of Man City and Newcastle. It should be called out, but won't be.
  9. I think it will be tough, but not impossible. I think it may depend on how many of those left to sign we keep, and Macca. My concern would be bringing in too many new faces at the same time. Scott is a ready replacement for Macca; I actually think he is probably more clinical, and I wonder if Morias was brought in late with one eye on settling him in for this season prior to Macca's departure. If we can keep the team that won us promotion last year largely intact and the augment this with a few new players with an eye on bringing them into the team during the first part of the season rather than having to throw them in en masse, then I think we could be in a good position. It would also help to have favourable games at the start of the campaign to build some confidence and momentum before facing some stiffer tests. With a fair wind we could be there or there abouts. I don't think we will struggle though.
  10. Haha... it was mainly spent sitting in hospital waiting rooms as my partner was called in for multiple (unrelated) tests!! We did get a day in Dungeness though which was great. That has to be one of the strangest places in the country and well worth a visit if you get the chance. It ended up being more some time off work than a proper holiday.
  11. I guess the thing is friendlies are there to achieve definite outcomes, the fans wishes probably being the least important. Teams will be chosen for a variety of reasons, style of play, locality, testing out new things, standards setting etc. I think last season's match against the lot over the river was there so the players could see what standards they need to aspire to, and proved to them that they could meet those standards. I would think the Stoke game is similar this year, whilst games against lower league opposition would be to test new systems etc. I don't think pre-season friendlies really give any indications individually, or collectively until we are several games in and can see what lessons were learned during that period. So I don't have a problem with any game. Mind you, I live so far away I can't get to any anyway (unless we play Gillingham, Ebbsfleet, Dover, Maidstone or Margate!!), so it probably affects me less.
  12. Thanks for the welcomes. I was on holiday last week so didn't see a lot of what was going on.
  13. Welcome @McSwegansRightPeg. I'm looking forward to your thoughts and opinions. This is a very friendly place.
  14. They are lovely pictures. You are clearly very talented.
  15. Are you using the NY Times Wordle?
  16. Welcome from a fellow newbie!
  17. @DangerousSausage they may be, but right now are they any better proposition than us? We are going places too. I would say we are very much on a par, or just behind. They don't really represent a clear step up. That said, you are right, the interest probably came when they had a chance of going up, and if that had happened they would have been a clear v benefit in the move.
  18. I think we were always going to attract attention given the nature of the football we play and that, compared to Wrexham at least, we have a lower budget and so would be more likely to be open to offers. That said, the recruitment has been spot on so far and I would be surprised if ready made replacements aren't on on the radar (no pun intended) for all the potential leavers. We have TAR for Nemane, Boston and Austin for Rodders, Scott for Langstaff already. I am also sure that we are looking to strengthen other areas anyway. What would be disappointing is if anyone goes to another L2 rival as that shows a lack of ambition in their part... which doesn't strike me as being consistent with the behaviors we've seen on the pitch all season. I also suspect that the search has begun for Luke Williams successor as a good start to next season will put him firmly in the frame for a bigger role once the new seasons sackings start... if he's not already there. Anyway, I think whatever happens we will be fine. Blimey that was long... sorry!!
  19. @Fan of Big Tone that's great going. Well done. I'm trying to lose a few pounds myself.... but it's slow going.
  20. Thanks.. it's nice to be here. Don't get your hopes up!!! They won't be that interesting. Thanks! I'll do my best.
  21. I loved the way that you knew where the ball was going to end up when he cut inside... and the defence did and couldn't stop him. That said, Iain McCulloch was always a bit of a favourite too... and Mick Vinter, and Arthur Man, and Raddy Avramovich....... the list goes on!!! Me too... but my thoughts are often few and far between!! I'm am not renowned for thoughts or thinking, but I'm sure it will be fun!! I'm sure I will, thank you.
  22. Thank you. I'm glad to be here.
  23. Thank you. I have been a Notts fan since the early 70's when my dad sat me on the wall in the corner of the County Road stand and The Kop. I was so excited and immediately hooked. Nearly 50 years later I enjoyed trips to the plethora of NFL teams here in the South East...next year my local match will be Gillingham and, probably, Sutton. I am.. I forgot to mention. The name...my sister used to fancy Tommy Johnson rotten, and as she couldn't drive I had to drive her to various places after the two promotions under Warnock so she could swoon at him!
