  1. Senior Squad is now down to 20 players again, We certainly need an incoming striker now. Hope that Notts have one in the pipeline. A Squad of just 20 is nor big enough. Stockport, Wrexham & Mansfield proved that last season with their big squads.
  2. Good luck to Junior. Hope he gets plenty of game time.
  3. Looks like financial troubles of clubs are not just in the Football league. It is happening all over. Six-time French champions Bordeaux accept relegation to semi-professional third division after Liverpool owners FSG pulled out of deal to buy the financially-stricken club https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13662761/Six-time-French-champions-Bordeaux-accept-relegation-semi-professional-division-Liverpool-owners-FSG-pulled-deal-buy-financially-stricken-club.html
  4. Very good performance by Chesterfield last night at home to Derby Some very well taken goals against a new Championship side in a 4:0 win Will Chesterfield be one of the teams pushing for promotion this season? On this evidence they might be right up there. Highlights here????
  5. Your Thursday Afternoon Weather.
  6. If there is anyone to blame for the footballers being tired it is the FA Premier League as far as I'm concerned. We've talked about this in previous threads. I totally agree @Wheelbarrow repair man that the Champions League & Europa League should be knockout only, & only champions of the top leagues should represent their league in the champions league. Europa League, which should be changed to the Europa Cup, should be runners up or cup Winners only. No other versions of the Europa league should be allowed. Future Euro international tournaments should be held at the start of the European season, after players have had a month's rest from the previous season. If the top players can't make it, then I'm sure there will be plenty of takers who want to represent their Country.
  7. Yes they are two quality players and are set for big things throughout their careers. I think it was a sin not to include Jack in the England side at the Euro 24 tournament. Jack would have added pace & movement to the England team that was sadly lacking. Nice to know that Notts played a part in their development & that is good, but as you've been saying @Wheelbarrow repair man Notts need to get some of our young players making a mark in the senior side. Notts have done it in the past. Why not again?
  8. If it provides training facilities for the players, & can also make money for the club, I'm all for buying it if Notts have the finances to do it. Most probably, the sale of Macaulay will part finance the initial outlay.
  9. The perils of socialism which leads to uncontrolled spending, which in turn leads to ever increasing borrowing to pay for it. A vicious spiral that can ruin a Country. A valuable history lesson.
  10. Weather for Thursday Morning
  11. Welcome to Notts Carter Foxe. Great to see an exciting young player joining Notts. Good luck.
  12. We were sorted out fine @Chris.thanks. Very impressed with the A & E staff, who work under a lot of pressure to get everyone seen.
  13. Unfortunately the match ends in a 5-1 defeat today up at Moor Farm against a good Derby side, Zac Denman with the goal for Notts. Fantastic again to see 15 year olds Ashton Shaw and Kameron Muir getting minutes!
  14. Sometimes I do miss work, I renewed my HGV licence at the beginning of the year just in case, (once you reach 65 you have to take a medical with a Doctor every year to continue driving HGVs) We had a driver at my old place still working into his 70s.
  15. No wonder the Worksop Town team have done so well these last few years. Must be all down to the kit man. Worksop Towns loss is sure to be Notts's gain. Welcome to Notts Ewan,
  16. Got up early this morning as we had a grocery delivery. Didn't fancy going to the supermarket so yesterday ordered the delivery. Surprised to see that there were slots available, they are usually taken up at the start of the week. Helped the Mrs do the washing & put the washing out for her. It was nice weather this morning & it dried fairly quickly. Afterwards, spent some time shredding old paperwork that we've collected over many years. Surprising how big the shredded paper grows.. Managed to peel some potatoes, prepare the veg & cook the evening meal between the shredding. Then guess who did the washing up? So it's been a busy day one way or another. Talk about being retired, who made that one up?
  17. Chaos at the start of the Olympics in Paris Football match is suspended after Moroccan fans invaded the pitch and we're throwing firecrackers at players after Argentina had equalised in the 16th minute of injury time at the end of the match. The game was suspended for two hours, the stadium cleared, and the match resumed. A subsequent VAR check ruled out the Argentinian goal for offside, and Morocco won the game 2:1. VAR is certainly changing the game, but is it for the better? Is this match and how it finished, setting a dangerous precedent?
  18. I do look back on Notts County's time in the National League with nostalgia. The time in the National League began on a big downer, but we could have easily have been promoted at the first attempt, but just came up short in the playoff final against Harrogate. As other PON members have mentioned, we never finished lower than fifth whilst we were in the National League and we always played attractive entertaining football, to a very high standard. Thanks to Neil, Ian and Luke, Notts were always challenging near the top of the league for all the time that Notts were in the fifth tier. That's some achievement in itself. Being in the fifth tier enabled Notts to get their mojo back and it was great that Notts became a national story once again with their promotion tussle with Wrexham. So pleased that we are back where we belong, but disappointed that our high standards weren't maintained during our first season back in League 2. But hopefully that will change for the season 24/25.
  19. Sorry but I would never have Williams back. He left without sorting out the team's poor form that he was totally responsible for. If the poor form continued he could have been sacked anyway. He was getting bent out of shape, barking at the players during matches and losing his rag so much that he lost his voice. I prefer the Maynard approach, not the Williams approach. I think your trying to compare chalk with cheese here, but there's no comparison between the two. Williams isn't even in the same league as our Jimmy.
