The poll ha now closed. Thanks to all who voted. I'm pleased to announce that Rory Finneran has been voted the Pride of Nottingham's Man of the Match v Sheffield Wednesday.

Ok. They had a poor run in to their League 2 season but they only lost 7 of 46 games which was the least losses of any club in League 2 that season. Looks like a Manager can guide a team to League success just like Stuart Maynard did at York City but it didn't save you from the chop nowadays.

I was stuck on the 2nd letter which threw me out.

Just three defeats on the bounce and he's gone. There is absolutely no loyalty in Football nowadays. What the man has done for his club over the last 5 years is beyond measure. In his defence there is a massive step up for clubs from League 2 when they start life in League One. Bromley had 23 incoming players and 18 going the other way. That's a big change round. Players have to gel together very quickly. Sometimes I wonder if a club would be better off just recruiting & releasing a few players but keep the core of the squad that did so well the previous season. At least the players are well gelled & know each other well.

Another tough match awaits Notts at Meadow Lane when they entertain top of the table Stockport County. Notts will be bouyed by their excellent performance against Sheffield Wednesday who they totally outplayed for most of the match, coming away with a win & a first clean sheet of the season. Stockport have a good recent record against Notts with two wins from the two matches they played in 2023 & 2024. Stockport have won their last 4 games on the bounce Their record this season in League 1 are 7 wins 1 draw & 3 defeats from the 11 matches played so far.. They have scored 23 goals & conceded 11& earned 22 points. Stockport have some very good players at this level that will pose a threat to the Notts backline. Forwards Kyle Wootton, Jack Diamond & Mikael Mandron & Midfielders Oliver Norwood, Lewis Bate & Ben Osborn can unlock most defences. Notts will have to be at their absolute best to keep them at bay. After their excellent display on Saturday, Head Coach Martin Paterson could be much closer to knowing who his best eleven is. If all the players are fit after their exertions on Tuesday I expect that Martin will name an unchanged first eleven with a similar bench. Notts demonstrated on Tuesday that they are a match for any team in League 1 if they are on their game & start on the front foot from the word go. Stockport should bring a good following with them, so it should be a good atmosphere with 12 to 13 Thousand in the ground. If Notts can play like they did against Wednesday I think that Notts can get another win which will be very welcome. At this stage I think even a draw would be a good result against a form team. Hopefully, Kyle Wootton won't have a happy return to his former club
