  1. I have read alot more in the past two years since I purchased my kindle. Now moved onto the hdx version and really enjoy reading all sorts.

Does what you read represent the person though?

I've just (15 minutes ago!) finished the Marco Pierre White autobiography. Now I have the choice of going Sci-fi again or the new Roy Keane book from a few weeks ago.

Thinking about it i'm going to go Sci-fi. In fact I've really enjoyed reading 'young adult' novels recently such as the hunger games trilogy and am going to plump for Divergent now. Not sure why they are termed YA though as they seem fine for old adults too!!

  2. Just read the report that this pm he has left by mutual consent.

Can understand their fans reactions that they were lucky to have him two years ago to get promoted, but they've not moved on at all since then.

Just shows how all managers fall on their swords eventually, regardless of achievements.

Who should replace him at the helm at Field Mill?

  3. Notts County teenager Colby Bishop has signed his first professional contract with the club.

Keith Curle: Handed Bishop his first contract

The 18-year-old striker, named on the substitutes' bench for the first team on five occasions, has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal.

Bishop signed a scholarship deal with the club's academy in December last year and will now work towards making the step up to the first-team squad.

He will be available to play for County's youth team for the rest of the current campaign before joining the first-team squad full-time ahead of next season.

    Thoughts?

  4. It's a cold, frosty, foggy morning here today. We haven't got any grandparent duties to perform until the weekend so we were presented with a choice.

Should we go away for a couple of days in our campervan or should we bite the bullet and start the decorating that we've been putting off for weeks? We chose the decorating, so today we will be stripping, papering and painting.

What are your plans for the day, work, college, school? Or just a lazy day keeping warm? Let us know.

  5. People are already putting their decorations up, what is going on!?!?

First thing this month the shops started their pursuit in profit, I hate to moan but this is what ruins the festive period. People celebrating early!

    Am i alone?

  6. So, at six we are still looking good right? I'd say so.

    The Table;
    10407454_10153601644965961_6417357711862

    A run down of our fixtures;

Sheffield United (A), Swindon Town (H), Rochdale (A), MK Dons (H) and Bradford (A).

Big fixtures huh? Questions is where do you see Notts being in the table after this run?

Ignoring Yeovil, in my article "Is all really lost?" I predicted 9-11 points (which would mean 3 wins and 2 draws at the most) however realistically I said 7. Simply that would be 2 wins and 1 draw from the 5 fixtures. I think we will be 5th, I think we'll drop out of the play offs after playing Sheffield United and Swindon Town but come back against Rochdale and the others.

    What about you? Thoughts?

  7. If Notts could give you a Christmas present - What would you like?

This is especially for @BromPie. ;) PoN's talking things like a win (not promotion), items like a signed shirt, a chance to meet a favourite player or even a free match day experience.

This is just to see what people say! Let us know. You Pies!

  8. I meant to ask this after the Yeovil match, at a point during the game lots of people put lights on, I think they used their phones but I wasn't sure what if anything it was all about, nobody round us seemed to know. Can anyone on here shed any light (if you'll forgive the pun) on this matter.

  9. ....................has been recinded.

Still had a big influence on the game though, they should take the 3 points of Yeovil and replay the game.

  10. Well, having fluffed the first of my prediction league selections, I thought I would share this, hoping for a much better outcome.

Last season the bet from a few of the natives up here, was that they would do us and finish higher in league.

What a happy day I had this May collecting all of those pints.

It did however somehow mess with my already cotton wool brain, by enticing me to make another...

This season then, the bet is that Notts will finish higher in our league, than the cumbrians will finish in league 2.

First thing the next morning I was regretting this thinking, crikey its a no brainer, of course I am going to lose...

The table looked good for sooo long, and then along comes Curly Wurly...

Notts County have revealed a significant drop in the amount paid to agents over the past year...

Notts County can confirm that the club spent £21,686.67 on agents’ fees during the period 1 October 2013 to 30 September 2014.

In accordance with FA Football Agent regulations, the club are required to make the amount spent on agents’ fees public each year.

The fees for the current reported period cover seven transfers and represent a marked decrease in the amount spent on agents’ fees by the club in the same period last year, which totalled £77,910.

Notts County Chief Executive Jim Rodwell said of the latest figures: “I think this shows considerable progress in our mission to streamline running costs at Notts County.

“As this large reduction in fees clearly demonstrates, we are doing our utmost to control costs whilst maintaining our competitive edge on the pitch by recruiting wisely.”

    Thoughts folks?

  12. I was interested to hear one caller on Radio Red's Matchtalk Programme say he had taken his son to watch the Accrington match and he sat behind the dugouts, (which is where I normally sat but wasn't for this particular match), he said he was appalled by the foul mouthed language that both managers and their assistants used in the dugouts particularly when speaking to the 4th official. He said he wouldn't want to expose his son to that kind of language again and the managers should be ashamed.

I have noticed this too and have wondered about the wisdom of letting my grandson hear the language but I don't think he is really old enough to understand yet.

What do others think, should managers set an example, not only to the players but also the young fans who look up to them? Or is it a part of everyday life that youngsters should get used to these days?

  13. It's Mrs. H's birthday today and we were going to have a trip into town and have a meal but we realised it was the Christmas lights switch on and would probably be very busy so we decided to go to our local Thai restaurant and have a meal.

We started the night in Wetherspoons and had a lovely pint of Blakes bitter, a very dark bitter, which Mrs. H. particularly likes and then went on to the Thai Restaurant. Mrs. H. had a Red Thai Curry and I had some kind of chicken dish which had been cooked over a charcoal fire and was really nice. Its; the second time we have been to this restaurant and although we aren't really used to Thai food I must say we really enjoyed it.

Total cost £3.45 in wetherspoons and £44 in restaurant which included a starter and a bottle of house red, not a bad night out.

    Happy birthday Mrs. H.

Don't waste your time watch all of this but 3 minutes is good! ;)

  15. Please join me in wishing one of our star members a very happy birthday.I hope you're having a really good day @PTID1862 :birthday: :birthday:

  16. As requested, here is a quick run down on the trip out.

We dropped the kids off at my parents for the day/night and zoomed up to Buxton. Absolutely lovely place. Never been before , but will definitely go back. Old Spa type town with wonderful buildings wherever you go and no more so than the hotel, The Palace, which we stayed in. Quite a contrast to the hotel we stayed in at Dublin last November which was The Gibson next to the Eire O2. That was built for luxury fo the 21st Century so everything was perfect and so modern.

The Palace was like stepping into the set of Downton Abbey! Very grand and well, old!

Lovely place to soak up the history and the things like the wonky stairs add to the charm of the old place, but for me I prefer the more modern approach and the Palace must be due a refurb soon I would think.

The Opera House (Buxtons version of the Theatre Royal) was lovely. Again a traditional theatre with the full cherub and gold leaf decoration etc..

The 3 ladies themselves, fascinating Aida, were brilliant. Their satirical humour matched only by their wonderful singing voices made for a laughter filled evening. Might go and see them next year as the our has been so successful they've extended it again to continue to Easter 2015. Not bad considering they've been playing sold out theatres every night of the tour since it started in Autumn 2013.

( Must be hard being on the road for hat amount of time considering we are talking about ladies of the mature variety, not a pop band!)

Would highly recommend it to and and all, but be prepared for fruity language.Amazing how three ladies in ballgowns with wonderful singing voices can make you feel so at ease with the expletives they use!

  17. I am sure all fellow Pride of Nottingham members would love to join me in wishing our Garry, Many Happy Returns, for his birthday.

34 Years young is Garry, and born up here in the "old Grey Town" that is Kendal.

    Happy Birthday Garry.  :birthday:

  18. So, losing to Accrington means we are out of the FA cup at the first hurdle and wont be hosting Yeovil in R2.  However, some consolation is that we play them on Saturday back in division three action when we look to build on a season that overall exceeds expectations, regardless of early cup exits.

    So, connections?

Connor Clifford bizarrely springs straight to mind, a Chelsea graduate, courtesy of Ince who also failed to convince...

    Anymore?

  19. The crowd was quite lively, it was bursting with life once it got closer to kick off. Spoke to many fans yesterday, again I spoke Joshua and his grandmother. I am pleased to see young fans like Joshua enjoying Notts, as they're our future and it sort of reminds me of when my Grandfather got me involved.

Family club! It makes me PROUD.

  20. I've read some comments which have concerned me about how some of our fans view Yeovil, they've earned their right to play in this league and I do not feel for a second that they're punching above their weight. They are a very good side on their day, I fully expect them to turn it around and progress back towards mid table.

Adjusting back to League One isn't easy, Bristol City, Coventry, Barnsley and so many others have struggled to adapt.

It's an hard league! The problem Yeovil are having is scoring, they made a mistake by selling Paddy Madden. Jordy Hiwula isn't a bad player, he's on loan from Manchester City and can be a tricky player - Liam Davis, Joel Grant, Kevin Dawson, and Sam Foley are players who I'd make Notts aware of for starters.

If Notts play to the way we know they can do, I don't see Yeovil being much of a problem but they will play similar to how Accrington did. Physical, playing to their strengths and not allowing the ball settle.

Key players for us will be our wide men, Yeovil's defence is the weakest area but they have a decent keeper in Artur Krysiak. Our strikers will need to make runs which will draw Yeovil's defence to follow, which I see allowing our midfield into the game. I expect players like Gary Jones, Liam Noble (whoever plays CM) to get the chances to score.

It's about time we stuffed Yeovil and if we play our cards right, I could see us scoring 3.

    That probably won't happen though.

What formation would you play? Are Yeovil punching above their weight? Score predictions? Thoughts?

Seem like great value, especially as the match-day program is still included.

In the Kop, it works out at £16 per game. It's worth it if you currently don't buy a program if you can make 10 of the last 13 games, and if you normally buy a program it's worth it if you can make at least 9 of the last 13.

If you can afford the upfront cost, why not give it a go and support the boys in black and white!

  22. I've started watching the missing, its about a little boy who's been kidnapped. Some may feel its sort of like Madeline McCann - Its very good.

    It stars James Nesbitt.

I generally like his work, anyone else seen it or watching it?

Its currently on the IPlayer, all 4 episodes to date. No idea how long the first two will remain but I recommend it.
