Jim O’Brien praises Notts County’s new signings

As Jim says, now with David McGoldrick, we have all the experience needed. Connell Rawlinson worked hard, as did Jim. I do agree that it was probably his best season despite some fans having opinions that I won’t repeat. I don’t think it was a fair reflection, but Jim tirelessly puts effort into the pitch and he’s right; we have the quality needed to go forward.

My takeaway from this is to give players all of your support, even in difficult times because they will pay off. Jim O’Brien has been a good servant to the club; he has everything you would want in a player. Having him in the dressing room, on the pitch, using his approach to help those around him is a great gift that he has. Just look at how he speaks about the players around him.

I like what Jim expressed in his interview. He’s a calm head but has a fiery passion that makes you warm to him. His rage at times when he makes runs but doesn’t get spotted can be quite funny. If Notts stuck a camera on him for a whole game, fans would see what I mean.

He may not hold the title of captain, but he is undoubtedly the leader both in the dressing room and on the field. It’s fortunate that he has decided not to retire just yet, as his performance last season was impressive. He even earned several Man of the Match awards.

I agree with @BlackandWhitePie Jim is definitely a leader you can see when he’s on the pitch how he helps the younger team members and hands out rollockins to players when necessary. He’s definitely got another year in him at least and then maybe coach.

I believe he has the potential to be a good coach and possibly even a successful manager. He is always considerate of others and knows how to motivate and uplift them. If you watch the videos about Wembley, you can see how supportive he was to everyone. I appreciate this aspect of his approach, but I also think he is a valuable member of the squad.

Jim always presents himself well. I appreciate everything he says, and while others may consider him past his prime, I do not. I believe he performed solidly last season, but not everyone values ageing players. I hope he enjoys playing in League Two and helps us achieve a top-end finish.

I found it interesting how Ruben matured as a player while at Notts. I think Jim’s comment was classy. I bet Ruben appreciates it, but Jim said so many good things about other players too. He focuses on the right things rather than himself or criticism.

I wouldn’t blame him if he decided to retire and leave the position for someone else to fill. However, I am delighted that he has signed a new deal. He’s a squad member who gives his all, plays to win and tries to help those around him. These are all worthy reasons why the club has offered him a new one-year deal.

This article has many noteworthy points and Jim provides a polished and focused interview. I must say that when he eventually retires, I will miss seeing his name on the team sheet. On the other hand, I am excited to see O’Brien and Randall back in a Notts team again.

I started working on a JODI display picture, but I’m happy sticking with JIMBO. I don’t think Jim gets the praise he deserves; he’s always the one giving it out.

I do think that with the advancements in training and physiotherapy, some players are managing to continue their careers. The point Jim makes about Connell and MG is a good one. We need experience in the right quantity and we have it now. I’m looking forward to seeing some new faces and Kyle Cameron signing on for 2 more seasons.

It’s good to read about his self-confidence in his ability. I think he’s a superb footballer and his experience is very handy to have in our squad. I hope he thrives this upcoming season and proves to those doubters that he still has it.

As long as there’s fuel in the tank, you have the desire and ability to play. Why retire? Age is just a number and he will once again demonstrate why he has been one of our best players in the past 5 or so years. He may be at his peak, but he has matured well with age.
