Notts County will travel to the Eco-Power Stadium to play against Doncaster Rovers.Β

The Magpies will be looking to build on their recent win and draw, which included a win and a clean sheet, whereas the Rovers will be wanting to get their first win of the season and climb the table to build some momentum for their season.

Notts go into the game with four points from a possible nine, after losing 5-1 to Sutton on the opening day, beating Grimsby 3-2 in their second match, and, most recently, drawing 0-0 at Morecambe.Β

One thing that Notts need to be doing differently against Doncaster is creating more in possession and being more clinical, as despite having 75% possession against Morecambe, both teams registered the same number of shots and shots on target.Β

If Notts could do more when they are on the ball then they could dominate score lines.

A big positive from the game on Tuesday, however, is the fact that the Magpies managed to keep a clean sheet. After conceding seven in the first two, with a few defensive mistakes leading to goals, it is good to see an opposition fail to score and for Aidan Stone to get his first clean sheet for his new club.

Doncaster currently sit second from bottom after three games and one point, that draw coming in their most recent game, in a 2-2 game against Mansfield Town.Β

Tom Nixon scored a wonder-strike in the 20th minute to take the Rovers into the lead, which was also their first league goal of the season after failing to score in the previous two. A back post header from Louis Reed brought the game level, but after an outside of the box effort from Tommy Rowe was parried out into the area by the keeper, striker Joe Ironside was there to pounce and restore the hosts’ lead.Β

However, Doncaster could not hold onto their lead for the second time in the game, with George Maris striking from distance with ten minutes of regular time to go – both sides left with a point on Tuesday.

After impressing in the last two games – with an assist, a shot leading to an own goal and the most shots and xG against Morecambe – Notts fans could be looking to play-off hero Jodi Jones to impress once again this weekend.Β
The Maltese winger found minutes hard to come by last year, after only recently coming back from big injuries, the player only started eight out of the 19 league games since his loan signing from Oxford United.Β

This season, he has found his fitness levels and ability from his time at Coventry, and is a first name on the team sheet for Notts, as shown through his three starts in three games.

One to watch for Doncaster this weekend is striker Joe Ironside, who signed from League One side Cambridge United in the summer.Β

The 29-year-old only managed six goals last season but was in a poor side that finished 20th narrowly avoiding relegation. However, the previous season when Cambridge finished 14th in League One Ironside racked up 14 goals and got three assists.

i do think we are starting to find out feet, the focus on high possession is a good thing because when the focus levels increase and the players fully settle into the season. we should be able to create more clear cut chances. i think we have a good chance to get a good result tomorrow, we just have to make sure that any errors dont punish us.

A triumph would provide a significant boost, not only for the travelling supporters, as indicated by the latest indications of 2.5k as confirmed by Notts, but also for the players to fully progress in the season.

I believe that cohesion will emerge when the players derive enjoyment from their football and the club achieves the necessary results. Doncaster raises concerns due to their squad's height advantage and their home advantage, despite their very poor start.

It would be pleasing to witness Notts secure the victory; presently, my intuition leans towards a final score of 1-1. Nonetheless, I earnestly hope that we can begin accruing points that elevate our position in the league. Doncaster won't prove as straightforward as the league table might imply; they performed decently against Mansfield, a respectable team at our level.

Notts must commence securing victories in matches of this nature if we are to advance further in this season. My expectations are somewhat flexible, yet simultaneously, I possess an ambitious outlook and believe that we are unquestionably on par with the majority of the superior teams in League Two. I am confident that Doncaster Rovers will endeavour to create challenges, but overcoming these obstacles falls upon us and Luke Williams.

Given our current position, an away victory would be highly beneficial for Notts, particularly one that instils confidence in the players. Our record stands at two games with clean sheets and undefeated, a streak I trust we can uphold.

Looking ahead, I anticipate Notts will create numerous opportunities on goal. It is imperative that we capitalize on chances from beyond the penalty area on occasion, along with delivering crosses and seeking to breach the defensive line.

Continuing our unbeaten run is important, but more than that, we absolutely must start turning draws into victories. We've shown our prowess in possession; the next step is to convert that into clear scoring opportunities.

Looking forward to the weekend! An away win would be a significant morale boost for our players and fans. Also, keep an eye on Jodi Jones, I have a feeling he's on the verge of lighting up this season.Β

I think we have a golden chance to capitalise on Doncaster's poor form. But remember, football is unpredictable. Every game we play makes us stronger and smarter. Hoping for the best.

Tomorrow's game is crucial for the team's confidence moving forward. So far, Jodi Jones whose impressive form lately has us all looking forward to another match-winning performance. More precisely, it's our attack that needs an uplift, with creativeness and precision being key.

One thing that stood out from our performance this season is that Notts is beginning to show signs of dominance with ball possession. But it's time to turn those possessions into successful finishes. We've observed that even with a higher possession percentage, we end up with similar shot rates to our opponents.

This needs to change. A move towards a more direct and attacking mindset, integrating creative plays to break down Doncaster's defence, is what I'm hoping we will see next.
