RIP Sinéad O’Connor

Speculation is that she took her own life, some time ago, her son did the same thing. :(

I think it's awful.

Rest in peace, Sinead O'Connor.

When you have lived a life as difficult as hers, it is easy to imagine.  It is awful, indeed.

I think that is almost certainly the case @Chris but until the inquest and a verdict is reached the papers or news outlets will not state that.

I don't know much about her background. I recall the media storm when I was much younger where they relentlessly pursued her for having a mental break-down. I know about some of her activism such as ripping up the picture of the pope etc.

A lot of that work she did help others and raised awareness, so she was a very brave soul who crusaded for others above her own health.

Unfortunately, some of the online news has already stated that it was suicide. :(

Yes I really should have said any REPUTABLE news outlet. Sad to say some news outlets have no sympathy or feelings to those bereaved by suicide. I could write an essay on this subject but it’s not appropriate here. ☹️

She had a terrible childhood and younger years at the hands of her mother and then a childrens' home run by the Catholic Church.  That really shaped her in her adult years.  Her son killed himself about 18 months ago.  I don't think se had much joy at any part of her life. The picture of the Pope was apparently her mother's so it is not clear whether she was making a statement against the church or her mother (but both would have been points well made given her experiences).

Good singer, I think her move to America played a lot on her mind as people who have spoken about her, always mention London and how she liked being there. Rest in peace, may she finally rest.

I watched a tribute to Sinead O'Connor, her story was very sad but it's good that she managed to keep her music going even if she remained out of the spotlight during most of her career. It's a shame, but she leaves a legacy.

I hope that inspires others.

Rest in peace, Sinead O'Connor.
