Does anyone else get really annoyed when on the radio they refer to the A52 as the Brian Clough Way?

It really grates on me, why isn't there a Jimmy Sirrel Way? Or a Tommy Lawton Road or even a Tony Hateley Avenue.

I suppose we do have Iremonger Road though so that is something.

What great Notts player/manager/chairman/owner would you name a road after?

Could you just see them naming the side street near Meadow Lane - Trew Avenue hehe

Jimmy should have one, perhaps something for the J&J Committee?

Whisky Way would have been a more appropriate name.

That's an odd one in truth but a fair point, compare Clough to Best - Only one who stands out by a mile and he's the one being discussed.

personally i don't find it too offensive. he was super important to english football, and was the greatest manager to never manage the national squad. i genuinely believe that if he had coached the england team he would have got us another world cup. He is a true legend in the derby-notts area therefore totally deserving of the road linking them to be named it.

yes i do agree that there should be a lawton and a sirrel way. but it wouldn't suite the nottingham council to do this, as they only push things from the other side of the river trent

Brian Clough is an absolute legend to us Rams fans and also that other lot too,and I think it fitting that the road joining our two cities now bears his name. There should however be some way of remembering Jimmy Sirrel and other Notts legends.Perhaps the roads around ML could be renamed.

It does not bother me, notts can name our legends and reflect on the things they have done.

naming streets after people is a little bemusing to me.

If Derry keeps us up this season he'll deserve a knighthood and a road names Derry Drive

Derry Main Streets got a ring to it, yet he does have some sort of drive (I don't quite believe it's by hurt tho).

No it doesn't. I think it was an appropriate gesture. To do what he did with 2 provincial clubs marked him out from other managers. To do it once can be a result of good fortune, twice is special.

Jimmy Sirrel's achievements at Notts were equally impressive.

Brian Clough Way named 'worst road in England'

5917913-large.jpg

More than 60 per cent of all journeys along Brian Clough Way in Nottingham are delayed, making it the 'worst road in England'.

The statistics, from the Department of Transport, for 'on-time' car journeys are now being used by WeLoveAnyCar.com to inform motorists which roads they should avoid.

The delays put the A52 Brian Clough Way in the number one position for the ten worst roads in England.

The worst ten roads in Britain have also revealed all is not well in the south, with traffic nightmares near Brighton and Bexhill clogging up the roads on a daily basis.

You was saying @tonyhateley? ;)

this would never happen to a notts legend because the road would not important, the council would make sure of that!

It must be remembered just how good a striker Brian Clough was until his career was brought to such an early end. In my opinion he was at least equal to Jimmy Greaves and George Best in both ability and charisma and, in the long run, gave more back to the game.

202 goals in 222 games for Middlesborough and 63 goals in74 games for Sunderland says it all.

I'm glad I don't have to drive on it very often, I call it by its proper name A52.

A52 it is then! ;) I would hate to see a legend of ours highlighted in a article like the above one.

There is some horrible roads here but plenty of places to drive which are enjoyable.

Never driven on the road but its bad for a true legend.
