Congratulations to him. He deserves it.

If Jatta is absent I'm sure that Notts will be able to postpone any matches if they wish while he's absent.

Yes I wondered about that, I thought you had to have several players called up for internationals, we’ll definitely miss him so hopefully we’d be able to postpone matches but then again we don’t want a fixture pile up.

@Fan of Big Tone I've just googled it to make sure, this is what I got.

EFL

"In EFL competitions, a postponement can be requested if three or more players are called up for their national teams".

The PL is different the PL will consider any reason for a postponement.

So it looks like you were right.

Congrats AJ a well deserved honour playing for Your Country. The worst things about the Situation is Missing  Important Notts Matches, being Named in the Gambian Squad, but ending up Not Playing in any of the Matches.

I will ask a Question though What would Happen if AJ turned down the offer to play for his Country, preferring to Play for Notts? Would he find himself Banned from playing for the Magpies or would he be fined, Or Both?

If Memory Serves, didn't Macca pull out of the England C Squad on one occasion Preferring to turn out for the Magpies instead?

@Wheelbarrow repair man

Looking at Jatta's wiki, he hasn't been selected for Gambia before, so it's going to be a big opportunity for him.

If I were him I wouldn't refuse the opportunity. It might not come around again, & an opportunity to either player in the Africa Cup or World Cup would be big for him.

It's like anything else in life, if you pass over an opportunity will it ever present itself again.

Personally, I think he should go. The only worry I would have would be the possibility of an injury.

But good luck to the lad, & him being selected is good on Notts too for the way they play.

Would think he will definitely want to play in it, I know I would.

It will mean he misses the Crewe game, which isn’t ideal, especially with our current injury problems.

Great for him, not so good for us!

We managed to cope without Jodi last season when he was called to the Mata squad. And with Jevani Brown in good form I’m hoping it won’t affect us too much. We should also have Austin and Crowley back by Crewe so one of them can play in behind with Brown and McGoldrick up top. But yeah, it does mean we'll basically have no other forwards for the Crewe match.

Perhaps #Notts will consider a new contract. Potentially a striker that could be worth millions soon

if he does well with gambia, then i would think more clubs would pay him attention and a new contract would give us some room for attracting better bids. i dont want us to fall into the macaulay langstaff issue of if hes going but i do think a new deal would be good for the reasons i have expressed. its great that hes been called up, its a major milestone in his career.

i hope he goes and does well, but it does leave us a bit short.

notts needs to allow him to choose and i hope he goes.

Good for Jatta and good long-term for the club (having internationals being developed in house).

Short-term it leaves us extremely light. I guess there is no word on Scott coming back? McGoldrick still out?

Brown's performances certainly have improved recently, but every time we have seen him in the 1 up top alone, he looked lost.
