If Notts are to have a chance of automatic promotion, they have to keep Jatta.

🫣 Nooo! I say the rest of the EFL needs to get some good recruitment of their own!

I think that’s more than we got for Langstaff, every player has his price so I’m just hoping no-one matches that this January. My guess would be as we’ve just lost Crowley we would be reluctant to lose another key-player so soon. But if a club offers silly money, the worry is that it is going to be hard for us to turn it down.

I think it may depend on who we can bring in during the next several days. I suspect Notts would be looking for a tall, lanky & strong individual.

As @menzinho writes, every player has his price, but after losing Crowley it would be a big blow to lose Jatta even if the price was right.

Sometimes there is more value to keeping a player rather than selling them.

I have no issue with Notts selling players, but we should limit the number sold during a season because the loss of a player can hinder the progress made. It also depends on the squad's depth and cover for that position. Selling Alasanna Jatta now, even for £750,000, would be silly unless a suitable replacement could be signed before the transfer window closes. I hope this is just Plymouth floating the idea and that Jatta remains a Notts player for the rest of this season. The money would be nice, but it could hinder us too much.

I really hope the club don’t consider selling Jatta, after losing Crowley it would be a hammer blow and leave us questioning the clubs ambition. If we are serious about promotion we should be adding quality players not selling them.

I don't understand what difference it makes if fans know the figure offered in the situation with Alassana Jatta being happy. I don't suspect he's unhappy, as there are no signs of it. There were some concerns with Dan Crowley, but the situation with Jatta is different.

The only thing about known bids is that it can tempt clubs to swoop in at a higher price. I am not sure an agent would be bothered by that.

It's possible that Jatta is open-minded about making a move, and they want to play it down while nothing concrete has come forward. Rejecting a bid usually sees a team end their interest or re-evaluate what they offered. This could explain the annoyance about the fee being leaked, but this is football and not all "undisclosed" transfers remain unknown.

It's quite well-known how much we paid, so I don't see the concern.

You're all spot on - I know every player has his price, and 750k is a huge amount of money at this level. However, having already let Langstaff, Nemane and Crowley go, this would be a very negative step. It's also in an area of the team where we're thin already.

In my heart of hearts I don't see it happening though - with Crowley we had a player whose mind was clearly elsewhere and would have left for a free in the summer. That's not the case with AJ; if we want to cash in, we can also do so in the summer when it's easier to get replacements in.
