Swansea Sniffing Around Richard Montague... again..?

Featured Replies

It's not out of the realms of all possibilities that his first job there could be to tell Luke Williams he hasn't got one anymore.

Swansea are in really poor form at the moment and they lost at home again tonight mustering up just 3 shots all game! 😬

It's all good having future goals but they can't keep on losing, they are yet to win a home game in 2025. What happens if Swansea get to the end of the month and they still haven't won any of them? There's hardly going to be a buzz around the place and most fans will want something or someone to change...

This is very disappointing news, regardless of his destination. In nearly five years at Notts, our fortunes have turned around and Montague has clearly been a major part of that. This also makes the choice of his successor a crucial one for the club. I think an appointment from within would be sensible to maintain continuity.Β

@menzinhoΒ Seems LW sacking, RM avoids that encounter!

Maybe RM will reconsider moving?

Bit of a embarrassment for Richard. He moved to Swansea to work with a Head Coach he knew & had worked with successfully.

Now he has to look for a new HC & hope that it's the right choice. It's not the best start for him at a new club.

It’s a bit of a mess really, in an interview Luke was really excited at the prospect of his friend Montague joining him at Swansea, now Luke’s gone, I would imagine that a big reason Montague leaving Notts was joining Luke so where does that leave him now?

Think it's time to eat humble pie and ask for my old job back if I was him.

Unless of course that was his first job at Swansea? No, surely notΒ πŸ‘Ώ.

On a more serious note, do feel some sympathy for LW even though he did leave us at a bad time.

Montague hasn’t started in his new job yet so he didn’t sack Luke.

@Fan of Big ToneΒ If Richard hasn't started his job yet, maybe time to reconsider & ask for his old job at back at Notts. I'm sure he would be welcomed back.

It would be a bit embarrassing for him though, would his pride let him? Plus as @Piethagoram has pointed out he’s not a director at Notts now.

You are probably right. We may not know for sure, but Luke may have had something to do with Richard making the move to Swansea.

Richard will be heavily involved in who the next head-coach will be, if he gets it wrong their owners and directors will just blame him… A really tough start to his new job.

I really am surprised they’ve sacked Luke Williams this early though, maybe he wasn’t the right fit but there’s a lot more wrong at Swansea than just the head coach. Surely the plan was for Luke and Richard to link up and look at how they can improve the squad over the summer. That’s all out the window now.

It shows Swansea owners and directors will no way be as patient as Chris and Alex and I think Richard will be fighting against them a whole lot more than he’ll expect. I wish him all the best in his new job, because I think he'll need it!
