Keanan Bennetts to Notts.

First time we've really seen calls for "sign the trialist".

Wasn't there to see, but definitely seems to have had an effect on a lot of fans.

Hopefully can prove the goods!

I think maybe we might see a couple out the door now and more moves made closer to the window closing.

Feel optimistic now, a lot of manoeuvrability in many aspects of the squad.

I'm very pleased with this signing. Keanan gave us evidence when he came on as a substitute against Cardiff, that he could be a big asset for Notts on the left wing.

He can also play as a wingback or in an attacking midfield position. He is 26 years old & has experience of playing at a higher level, so his signature is a coup for Notts.

Notts Director of Football, Roberto Gagliardi, said that they were very pleased to secure Keanan’s services, having had the chance to work closely with him during his trial period.

Keanan becomes the ninth player to join Notts this summer. Hopefully, Keanan won't be the only player to be signed by Notts before the transfer window closes.

Sounds like an interesting signing based on what I'm hearing, especially if he's versatile.

His career makes for interesting reading. He hasn't played more than 20 games in a season since 2020-21, when he was at Ipswich. He joined our pre-season opponents Darmstadt in October 2022 as a free agent and played 16 times as they won promotion to the Bundesliga, but with just over 200 minutes played in total he was clearly used as a super sub. Nevertheless, their fans seemed to rate him and were disappointed when he left the next summer. He then suffered a long-term injury at his next club.

Sounds like a player with pedigree who needs some games and a bit of luck. Welcome!

By all accounts he played really well during his trial period so I hope he carries on in that vein and it could be a very good signing.

I wouldn't have signed him based on his performance at Cardiff, and I obviously missed the German friendlies. However, they might have influenced the decision. He shows potential and was impressive going forward, but I have concerns about his defensive abilities. When will we have another opportunity to evaluate him further? We wouldn't, and it's not my decision to make. I just personally wouldn't have offered him a deal, but I do hope it works out and that my doubts aren't correct in time.

One point which I would like to make is that his career having been overseas does seem to attract more optimism than some who don't have a glamorous football CV.

It's quite unusual for me to acknowledge that his positivity largely stems from the clubs he has been associated with. However, my son was really hoping that we would sign him, and I do respect the club's decision.

I am also open to the prospect that he does have a level of exciting ability; it's just the defensive side, but that might be perfectly fine against teams at our level.

I would always welcome such a signing, regardless of my personal thoughts. I do hope Keanan Bennetts does well for us.

A field where dreams become reality.

As far as I'm aware he didn't play for us during the German tour @Chris. However, I noticed that after his stint at Darmstadt he was signed for SV Wehen Wiesbaden by Paul Mackie, who moved in the other direction soon after and is now DoF at Darmstadt. I wonder if this is how the contact came about?

Bennetts played most of his football in Germany at Borussia Mönchengladbach II, who play at the fourth level. However, he's frequently been in and around squads at Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 level so must have some potential. But what he really needs now is regular games. Fingers crossed the move benefits club and player alike!

He also went through the German and then England youth national teams up to the U19s, so he clearly possesses a lot of talent and skill.

I'm hoping his cameo appearance is just a glimpse of what he can do, I think if he can settle with us given how we’ll suit his style and how he’s probably better than this level of football, he should be a really good player for us.

He seems like a decent player. I think it's worth taking a chance on him. He could do well and get sold for more money later, or maybe stay and become a proper part of the Notts team.

If he provides a bit more guile and physicality than Jarvis then he’s a decent signing in my view. Need to see him in action before attempting to judge/assess him tbh.

Keanan Bennetts strikes me as one of those overlooked players who’ve slipped through the cracks. British clubs don’t always catch wind of their potential, and I hope joining Notts turns out to be a clever move. It’s still early, so hard to judge him from his time at Cardiff. But I do welcome him to Meadow Lane and I’m hopeful he can grow into an important part of our side.
