Ok, so I know I'm a miserable old bugger and I've probably posted this every year since joining this forum but the fireworks have started already round here, why are shops allowed to sell them so early and why is it now referred to as "Firework Season" when I was a lad it was bonfire NIGHT, ok we might have let some off a few days before but not weeks before and weeks after.

Nothing wrong with fireworks or the firework season, it's the idiots who are the problem and they spoil it for everyone else. Kids and family deserves the time to celebrate with each other and small gatherings are nothing, what annoys me is idiots who aim them at people through cars or just walking. A few years ago myself and @super_pie was nearly struck by one which was aimed at us from a car, as we got off a bus.

I won't go into what I said to the idiots but yet I did get a chance to bump into them as I walked further up, they had gone into a Spar store near Supers and Grannys. What do you think for?

I think fireworks should only be sold to people over 25 years of age, if they look or act dodgy they should be refused service.

PARENTS should stop buying them for their kids and wonder why they have to visit A&E because they've burnt their hands or worse.

Yeah, I would tend to agree with you Tony.

I have no heard any yet, so I should push my luck but I do hate seeing people using them as an excuse to be antisocial.

not much will change, the government a police do swot when it comes to people letting them off early or late, your not supposed to do it at certain times.

There is not a problem around lambley, we tend to have one night between the small community where i live. I can relate to those who do become annoyed by it, I spent several years working near the meadows and it was hell around this time of year.

It is a problem, I agree.

We normally go to Papplewick for their bonfire and firework display. Excellent value for money and if you get there early enough you can stand close to the fire and it keeps you nice and warm for the firework display. That and a good helping of mushy peas!

Yes,hardly a week passes without fireworks being let off somewhere within earshot,especially weekends.We seem to get a lot at Christmas and New Year too!

How far back do we have to go to find Fireworks just being used to remember remember the 5th of November...

 

They get used by all manner of folk now, New Years Eve celebrations the world over, Birthdays, in fact any celebration anywhere... And it isn't just your usual anti-social lot using them. Plenty now do it...

 

I have to say up here, it helps that they have to travel 10 miles to get to the nearest firework stocking outlet...

Yes it's quite a few years but I'm old enough to remember when fireworks were only used around November 5th.

The first time I remember fireworks being used for New Year was 2000 which obviously was a bit special even we had some but now every new year sees them.

Personally I think moving 'em to communities or events might help but it would spoil it for families like mine.

I agree, families have done this for gawd knows how long. I remember many a bonfire with family, it was always on the Friday or Saturday and it was everybody who turned out, the full experience, with food, guy competition, the fire, the fireworks......

I'm going to prepare the bonfire next week and also get the guy ready.I've got plenty of rubbish to burn!
