If Kirkby in Ashfield counts as a long way...we had a few flurries of snow throughout the day, but nothing serious. Not fair. I want to go sledging!

Where I am is always cold come the end of October all the way through till mid February normally, i've gone out to a frozen car everyday since last Monday, yesterday morning was worst, it was minus 6 till about 10:30am, it warmed up a little after that but never went above minus 1, we did have a little snow & sleet this morning, it was very brief though, only about 10 mins.

I've noticed that its ever so cold around here, I'm surprised Super isn't moaning.

We've had to turn the radiators on, usually we rely on electric because of how expensive gas is and if it gets colder we'll need to invest in some more portable heaters or we'll all be wearing 20 thick @super_ram styled jumpers.

Just a bit wet here in mansfield no sign of any white stuff.

We are just outside Nottingham and it is very cold we've given up worrying about the cost of heating we just turn it up until we are warm enough. I make sure we are on the cheapest energy tarrif possible and we have the lastest efficient combo boiler, double glazing, thick curtains etc.

This year because I'm 62 I received my first winter warmth payment from the government which was £200, a nice bonus to help with the bills.

Well up here, we had our first wintry showers yesterday morning, too wet to settle, or so we thought..

The east fell side looked particularly white. Now after having a good nights sleep we have woken up to white fields around the valley, although it looks to be just a spattering instead of deep stuff

@hissingdwarf we will be sledging and skiing over the festive period if this year is anything like the last few..

Thank god it isn't as bad as our first winter up here, when the warmest it got in the afternoon was minus 14

I hope we do get the chance. Every year for the past 20 if the school has closed I've spent the day worrying about getting to work the next day. Even if the roads were closed one head actually rang me up and said he'd checked with the bus company and they would be getting a bus through in an hour and I'd best be on it. I told him where to shove it, but that's how it was. This year no drive to work, just walking downstairs! If it snows then sledging here we come with no boss to worry about!

In fact one year the staff got so fed up we all swapped phone numbers and if one person couldn't genuinely make it in We'd all ring in and say the same thing so he had no choice but to close!

@hissingdwarf shocking, absolutely shocking, you see this is what is wrong with the country today... to hell in a handcart... LOL

Unfortunately I don't have that luxury, you see all you good people still require everything, and that means that we have to go out and deliver it...

Sorry it is going to snow, cancel Christmas, your dinner, the shopping, can you imagine?????

That's why I shop early. Had the pork ( can't stand turkey!) In the freezer for 2 months now. What is it you do for a job then?

Wednesday Going into Thursday We're expecting 15 - 25cm of Snow. Come on over for Sledding :D

Honestly, You get used to it! and you can have loads of fun, in the Snow & Cold.

Me personally it's one of my favorite seasons.

I'm struggling to stay warm just sat by the fireside! No snow yet.

I'd love to live elsewhere. I'd miss a few things such as Notts! But overall after family, not much else.

Medical care is always the issue with Ben's condition. We looked at moving to Ireland a few years back, but the cost of the health care for him over there was too much to bear so the nhs will keep doing us fine!

My kind of weather, I would never get bored of playing in the snow & thankfully my childishness has rubbed off on the kids!!!

No snow yet but we had a shower of baked beans yesterday!

I wish it would snow, so i can't really moan about the cold as it wouldn't otherwise. It has been colder early in the morning and late at night more recently but its warmer than it normally is in december.

Everyone should hate that stuff :( . One of mother natures deadliest weather systems

I remember last year, we had a storm which dumped 10mm of freezing rain (mini hail storm) and you might as well have had Ice skates on.

Down here it's just cold, no wind, no rain and no show.

Lucky? I think so.

Very windy here too, at least the shortest day has come and gone. It will gradually start to get lighter now.

I was hoping to burn more of the garden rubbish but it's been far too windy.
