Notts County announce the appointment of existing board member, Aileen Trew as their new Chief Executive Officer.

Mrs Trew, who has worked closely with all departments in the football club as a Director for the past four years, takes up the new role with immediate effect.

Chairman, Ray Trew, stated: “Aileen has enormous passion for this football club, and as a dedicated member of the Board for the past four years I am confident that she will embrace the challenge in her new role as CEO.

Mrs Trew, who adds the role of CEO to her directorial duties at the club in the wake of Jim Rodwell’s departure last week stated “I’ve got to start by thanking Jim Rodwell for all that he did during his time at Notts County, I have thoroughly enjoyed working alongside him and wish him well in his new venture.

“As we face new challenges now I want to assure all our supporters that we have a strong team of dedicated, hard-working and forward-thinking employees at all levels, all of whom have something to contribute to the vision of progression that we share.

“I must at this point clarify one issue that has arisen recently, which is the future of our Commercial Director, Damian Irvine. Despite rumours circulating, I can confirm that Damian will continue in post and both myself and the Chairman are looking forward to working more closely with him as we prepare to expand on commercial activities and re-launch The Bench, his revolutionary vision that was so rightly rewarded with the prestigious Best Club Marketing Campaign accolade at the Football Business Awards last year."

Mrs Trew went onto to add:“I know that I have plenty to work on in taking on this new role of CEO, but with the support of the team around me, and with Ray taking a much more hands-on approach to the club, I know that we can continue to build for the remainder of the season and beyond.

“So while there’s plenty to be done, on the pitch and off it, I want to assure our supporters that it is business as usual here at Meadow Lane and our focus remains on making Notts County the very best football club that it can be, a vision that I hope you can all share with us.â€

Not sure if this is a good move or not? Not positive that the owner and CEO are both from the same household, so to speak, but I'm no businessman. I'm kind of glad Rodwell has now gone, despite not knowing much about him/his job, there were a lot of negative rumours and there's no smoke without fire.

It will certainly save a lot of money, Rodwell must have been on a fair wack. Interesting to see Damian Irvine isn't leaving now.

Interesting what the SLO said about Rodwell. Not a popular bloke for a number of reasons.

This makes sense. Mrs Trew has shown her commitment to the club. I think she'll do a fine job.

Brill News, Now This is Progress

I fail to see the negativity here, I think it makes sense because I am sure it's keeping the costs down.

I personally wish Mrs Trew all the very best with the role, it won't be easy at all - It's a difficult job but I am sure she will rise to the challenge and I hope we can get that level of stability which is required to progress from here.

Good Luck @erindoors!

from what i know @erindoors runs a lot of the club already, she knows what needs doing and is passionate about that. i hope she enjoys the role and keeps clear of mad because as the fans have learned. good luck to our new ceo!

I have no idea of Mrs. Trew's previous experience in this sort of role, or a similar role. Does she have any experience/qualifications to back this up, apart from being the owners wife?

Good luck @erindoors.I hope all the changes in the club structure bring changes in results.

Am I right in thinking that @erindoors will be one of only only a few female CEO's in the league. I think Mansfield had one, not sure if she's still there.

That's the critical point, surely?

Why do we need a CEO - to control the business, make strategic decisions and administer the finances? Well, we have an owner for that. Whatever people thought about Rodwell, he had a knowledge and understanding of football Clubs and related League administration, he knew how things worked. He also had pedigree, a background in the game, life prior to Notts.

I'm not sure that Mrs T offers anything like the same background and experience. Equally, not sure how much impact our CEO actually has. If RT is pulling all the strings anyway, what's the point?

Some would have you believe our plight is due to JR. I don't buy that, he didn't pick the team, nominate the substitutions or perform on the pitch. If he was responsible for us hanging on to Derry & Abbott for 3 months too long then he has some culpability but I don't believe that either tbh!

I hope this works out, and the new CEO works to end the negativity, if she is half as successful as Karren brady, then yippee

I think we have to give her a chance, I am sure if she can't cope or fails someone can do a better job she would step down. Its hers and Rays money!

Good luck to her!

I suppose its a good way to save money as its now one less wage to pay. I never liked Jim Rodwell anyway :)
