Snooker or Pool?

Anyone play either of these? Which do you prefer?

I am a snooker player myself.

I used to play snooker when I was around 18. I was rubbish. Mind you, so was my girlfriend, it took us ages to finish a frame.

I'm OK at pool at first, then become progressively worse as the alcohol kicks in.

Usually people I know tend to get better as they drink, not including myself though.

I prefer pool, it's easier and simple. I tend to get bored of playing snooker but I can play well, I guess it depends. @SIMMO and @jsrjay both play snooker, it would be interesting to see them play each other though, as one supports us and the other is a red.

I'm also hoping to beat @super_ram quite a few times on holiday at pool. :D

I think it might be a confidence thing @notts-joe. Sometimes I start like a world-beater, then I pot the white or something, I try too hard and things go downhill from there. The fact that the pool table and the room are spinning by this time only contributes to my woes.

I played snooker quite a bit  from about 18 for a few years too.I was never all that good at break building but did occasionally make some brilliant pots.Very enjoyable.

I take that as a challenge ,bring it on, but don't leave it till just before last orders.

When I lived in England I did play snooker but after moving, pool is just far more common here.

Snooker for me, my dad bought a small snooker table (quarter size I think) when I was a lad and we used to put it on the dining table In the front room and play, we had a special short cue to use when the long one nearly knocked my mums best vase off the mantle piece.

Aged around 17 I used to go to the local snooker hall with my mates to play in a dark smoke filled room, you could smoke indoors in those days. I wasn't much good at break building either but enjoyed it.

DID SOMEONE MENTION SNOOKER  :)

I am  a snookerholic live and breed snooker.

Play in local league of which I captain my team, also play in a lot of our singles comps.

On top of that I am also involved in the committee that runs our league I am the player secretary so any issues any players have they get in touch with me 1st before going to the chairman, I am also the handicap secretary on top of that which means I have to handicap all our players in making it fair for the lesser players to at least stand a chance of beating a better player. All our players are on between 0-56 handicaps and we go up in 7s so 0 7 14 21 28 etc etc . For the record I play of 28.

I actually 1st started playing pool when I was bout 8 due to parents running and living in pubs, they then ran a club which had 8 snooker tables when I was 15 so that's when I began playing snooker and got involved in our locl league when I was bout 22.

My highest break in practice is 97 my highest playing a mate is 68 my highest in a match is 57.

I am genuinely shocked... I know that tree huggers are strange... but what is all this about breeding with a snooker table

It is a "wooden" table after all.

Leave the Forest fan alone though, he's looking after PON.

I used to play for the Crusader pool team on thurs nights back in day. Had some cracking nights visiting other pubs around nottingham. Then all the lads seemed to get married have kids and the whole thing fizzled out. Shame really.
