School holidays

The kids summer holidays are looming, do you have children? Are you looking forward to having the kids at home or are you dreading it.

We have mixed feelings we look after our two youngest grandchildren 3 days a week and they seem to have boundless energy, we love having them but find it hard to keep up with them and keep them entertained.

How about you?

Bring it on. It has good and bad sides for us.

1 the twins we have, their mum is a teacher so we dont have them for the six weeks which is nice to give us a break from the babies.

2 one of the girls we have had from when my wife started minding is leaving in two weeks so that will be sad (but financially we have already replaced her starting September - a business needs customers!

3 Our own two are difficult to occupy. Abbie my 9 yr old, has been off for the past week with chicken pox and at this rate wont get back to school alot before they end so it is a seriously long slog for her to keep occupied. She has been signed up for anything going at the local leisure centre!

4 We know we are likely to be inspected in the next three weeks as the new framework kicks in from September the 1st ( and I assume they want us checked under the old regime!) and we go away for a fortnight at the beginning of August so the next three weeks are going to be slightly tense every time the phone goes!!!

The holidays are quite a nice period for us, myself and @cheeky~k8 enjoy having family days out, or just doing things around the house. It's certainly nice to spend time with them, as when they reach their teens I am sure they will want to be spending it more with their fans.

Only reason I don't really like them, is it tends to make everywhere busy and then we have children playing on the streets.

It's not as bad really but they do get on my nerves, thank god my own children have respect.

A field where dreams become reality.

I hate when the little ****s around here are off, its unbearable. You can safely say I am dreading it!

Our Summer Hols started on the 23rd June, YES we have 9 weeks off and love every minute of it. My Eldest is at Army Cadet Camp,  my Daughter is in Art School and we're heading to the East Coast in August.

You have to make the Summer as good as anything, Because the Winter takes it out of you (6-8 months of Winter)

I love summer holidays... 6 weeks without the roads being clogged up with cars....

P.s cure for some childhood obesity... mek em walk

I have to agree with you there @PTID1862 the parents seems to take the kids every where in cars these days, I used to walk about 2 mile to school and now I've got a lovely silph like figure.

Seriously the roads are much quieter, my son lives on the same road as a school it's absolute bedlam during dropping off and picking up time.
