I see Hughesie scored a hat trick for Port Vale against Burton. SIGH!

He did not want to stay, his career understandably is what wanted to prolong as much as possible.

I understand that but given the chance, he could and would have scored more for us. He could be a great impact player but he could also contribute the start of every other game. I don't know if he were on of our top earners, supposedly he was getting around 3k but he was reported to take a wage cut. We can't sadly debate his stay everytime he scores, just think of his time and hope we can find someone else who can fire us on our way.

Glad Hughes is making himself known back in the game.

you dont need him.

i respect Joe to much to say anything else, you will find someone.

It's a funny one Will, I've always said he was good enough to start or be an impact player, he was a player who would do so much but as some said to me he was clever on the pitch. (he liked getting one over people) He's the type of player you can't replicate, you can't teach it and it's something natural. I know not everyone likes him as a person but he's paid his time, I know that doesn't change what happened but I am sure he would if he could. I don't think people should always be judged by there past but who they're now.

He was very kind and humble. I miss him :)

legend here, features him on pons flyer. nicer if you meet him and glad hes scoring.

Yes he does, I'm going to choose a little wiser next time. I just wanted to pay respect to the players who we had from our Championship winning season and there's no two bigger players at our club at the time. I'll get both Hughsey and Bish to sign one! I'm determined :D

I wished we gave him the chance to play more too, but i do think there was a disagreement somewhere that made him leave with consent.

I'm also glad hes getting to play more and scoring alot of goals, just wish it was with us.

We will eventually find someone new but it takes time and budget.

The reason he wanted to leave was because he wasn't getting enough football and he felt he could play more. He had his No 9 taken off him and given to Showumni, I know a shirt number shouldn't mean anything but it must have been a huge psychological blow to him and maybe even the rest of the team. Especially when the player who was given the shirt turned out to be a bit of a flop and certainly wasn't a replacement (in terms of goals) for Hughes.

He wasn't just important scoring goals he was hugely entertaining to watch the sort of player who could get the crowd going.

As Joe said he did his time for a terrible mistake he made in his life and I'm sure if he could he would turn the clock back and change everything.

He's certainly doing ok at Port Vale and I wish him luck, if Vale get promoted and we play them I will be the first to give him a cheer if he plays against us. Unless he scores of course.

And you can bet he will score Tony

Oh yes, he's bound to, I wonder if he would be brave enough to "do the Hughesie" in front of the kop?

Port Vale fans now love him which shows what type of fans they have.

I wish him luck in the rest of his career and hope he carrys on doing well, as he deserves too. I still do wish we had him in our team but that can't be changed.

Some players are great with fans and others arn't as interested. Those that speak or come across to fans will always get a better response when they move on to another club as fans will always remember what they have done for the club and themselves.
