Winter resigns

Featured Replies

Did I read somewhere that Julian appointed David Weir as manager at the Blades? That was a colossal failure. No tears that he is going / gone

Amazing....unbelievable....incredible............the club is in meltdown, and the one person causing it is still there..........for now!!

If you are referring to JF, I don't agree. He didn't cause this by himself, he walked into the situation and made it worse, granted, but those above him created the situation.

Actually one wonders whether the "Official Statement" last night was the final straw. There was a chance to lay out a fuller sequence of events but presumably chose to be selective in the statement of facts as released?

It just gets worse.

I have to say this is more of shock/surprise than being told by @cheeky~k8 that Mr Trew had stepped down. I think it's safe to say he's still running the club, considering the article says he 'accepted' the resignation. Hopefully this will all clear up soon, it's just unbelievable.

PS. I thought this may have been due to the takeover being closer than we thought.

@Super_Danny_Allsopp well if Jamie embraced Ricardo's legacy and just fixed the defence, I would have more time for him. The risk to me, was not enough background checks on the style of football he promoted and those "training legacies" left at Bolton.

Mr Trew has resigned....the club is for sale....so theoretically Ray has gone.

The catalyst for the current implosion is JF, he picks the team (I assume!), sorts the tactics, decides when to play subs (if at all!) and is/was heavily involved in the SA fiasco.

This all started after the Orient game where we had one shot on target..............so I blame JF

I do however accept the point about Trew/Winter selecting JF in the first place.

This is totally crazy. There's a lot more to this than meets the eye. No CEO resigns because fans don't like the manager.

Aborah breaks his silence via BBC Nottingham, the day after the CEO resigns. Is there more to this?

Certainly plenty to speculate on isn't there?

I doubt it, the NEP states that Winter is dismayed at the fans' reception of Fullarton. While that may be true, I doubt it's the reason he resigned. More a parting gift to JF.

Maybe Winter realises that a new owner would replace him anyway and has been applying for jobs elsewhere. Wouldn'T be surprised to see him turn up at another club soon.

One thing's for sure, we'll find out soon. The club isn't exactly good at keeping things under wraps.

Community Leader

ok...let's think this through.

We know several candidates applied for the job....."Winter of our discontent" vid

Winter said "any of them could have been appointed....it was close".......but IMO, if it was really that close....the Chairman has the deciding vote?

So Winter goes back to Ray at some point and says "this ain't working".......everyone else can see it!!

Ray decides to "stick with the hand he picked"?

Winter resigns

..........or, it was Winter's fault all along ie HE chose JF.....so now he feels guilty and resigns

Either way.....there is only JF left to fire now.......2pm Press Conference?

One can only make assumptions but maybe the official statement released yesterday regarding Stanley could have been fuller in information provided. It's briefness left a lot to be interpreted..... It was a chance to lay down the facts in full and it wasn't taken.

#Stanley for first team, CEO and player manager :D

When you see so many resignations, it makes you wonder how they think genuine fans feel? I fear for Saturday's attendance, I hope it's not as bad as I think it will be. If people start to blame fans for not turning up - it won't be on. I know of people who aren't going for real reasons, such as someone who doesn't feel safe going down because she's disabled. Whilst another fan is sick of the atmosphere and is very, very loyal.

yea an they were down bottom most of season til they bought in clough I think

and how long with this new guy last, Benedict Mason... In respect to the official statement regarding Stanley, maybe we should refer to a quote from Benedict on his own appointment Quote  I  can also acknowledge that certain things may not have been done as well as they could have been in the past, particularly with regards to communication on a club-fan level. I plan to address this and go beyond, providing transparency and consistency online and on all media platforms to benefit the supporters, and aid the advancement of this club on and off the pitch."

Have to agree on that one, I don't think the statement went far enough to clear it up

@NewNottsFan For a CEO and a so called professional media team...the standard falls below what I would consider acceptable by a Public company, e.g. release of information to shareholders and the like. It was their big chance to "factually" put down the timeline and facts, not all because some may remain confidential, but the full essence needed to be conveyed fairly..which is the most important thing

So the quiet man has finally roared and decided that he has had enough as well. Well I won't miss him, in fact I've hardly heard anything from him, so it may be for the best that he is off to Huddersfield (allegedly).

Obviously he never did his homework before joining Notts, because anybody that had would have realised that the club needed an experienced manager and not another rookie put in charge of the team. Huge mistake Mr Winter and that is your Notts County legacy.

@Piethagoram couldn't agree more with you but for some reason that chance wasn't taken....I don't work there so I can't comment further

There seems to be a mistrust at the moment and an assumption that the club , and their officials, are lying about things just now which is shame but if I've read the word 'Liar' once online , I've read it a million times about the club and staff, across all social media and I'm not entirely sure why fans would think the entire club is lying to them? People can argue about performances, appointments, communication, promotions, prices, form, condition of the pitch, stadium or where the club is going.... but when you get to a stage where some fans feel that club are lying to them no matter what they issue, then you are not in a good place.

Why has Julian Winter resigned? I have absolutely no idea but when the fans assume everything that is said is disingenuous then that can't be good.

This is based purely on accounts across all social media and not reflective of users on here (before you all pile on)

I just hope the fans get back to a place where they, at least, believe what they are being told...if not?  what's the point?

I'm not convinced by any stretch that information from the club is anything less than 100% factual and well intentioned but , then again, I'm not always in the majority it seems

@NewNottsFan It's really a back to basics situation. One of the first doctrines of business is "Know your customer". What has subsequently happened could and should have been predicted.

Had Jamie's philosophy been to come in and just tighten the defence without losing the forward potency of the team, all would have probably been fine. I respect your views, but on the evidence that Jamie has presented us, he has put the football light years back with hoof ball, he does not engage well in media interviews, which us sensible fans rely on to understand the decision making process, and seemingly has put our continental players out in the footballing wilderness. No wonder the "natives" are not happy.  Furthermore the interviews Jamie has given does not tie in to the game we supporters have just seen...and don't get me on about playing Alan Smith and Noble as a winger. All this points to absolutely no confidence in the manager. Not once has he put his hand up to say ..."Folks, I got it wrong?"

Someone has mentioned that Julian has lined up a post at Huddersfield. Whether that is true or not I don't know. His own silence during the months he has been with Notts has done nothing visible to promote the club. He has appointed a new media and marketing executive..and to oversee the first official statement on Stanley, was a big failure.

The whole club is in chaos. I just hope we gather enough points from somewhere to avoid relegation. To be outplayed in the final 20 minutes by a team that hasnt won in 2 months, says all you need to know about the state of things here.
